Editor's note
This review is based on the operator’s current sports offer in Australia.
Expert verdict
If you are a fan of betting on the horses, then you will struggle to find a better option than BoomBet. The operator has a clear focus on the sport and its provision is second to none.
If you’re not so keen on the horses, then there’s no need to entirely discount BoomBet from your thinking, but there are stronger options out there. This is especially true in areas such as the number of sports betting markets covered and the payment options permitted.
That being said, the odds are generally very good, especially for point spreads or line bets, so if you are somebody who sticks to major events and markets, BoomBet sports betting makes for an excellent choice.
In conclusion, this really could be two separate reviews. In terms of betting on the horses, BoomBet gets full marks and a huge stamp of approval. In terms of betting on any other sport, it’s very good, but not quite the best you will find.
Sports and markets at BoomBet – Great for horse racing
If you are looking to use a Boombet deposit bonus, or just wagering with any BoomBet money funds, you’ll want a wide range of sports and markets to choose from. So let’s look at how BoomBet stacks up in this area.
Horse racing is the clear focus at BoomBet. Players can get great fixed odds on race meetings all over the world. There are also a large number of futures markets, meaning you can wager on racehorse meetings taking place over the next few days and beyond.
Additionally, BoomBet offers markets for 18 other sports. These include many of the most popular sports in Australia such as rugby league, cricket, tennis and soccer. In our section ‘Is BoomBet legit?’ we’ll look more closely at whether you can completely trust the operator for your online sports betting.

Sports & markets rating
- Vast choice of domestic and international horse races
- All major sports covered
- Many smaller sports absent
Like other BoomBet reviews, I have to say that if you are keen on horse and greyhound racing then you are going to love BoomBet. It certainly does more than enough to achieve a high score from me.
That’s not to say BoomBet is poor when it comes to other sports, but compared to many competitors, the range of sports covered is somewhat lacking. With only 15 sports available here, the choice pales in comparison to the 31+ available at Bookmaker.com.
The markets provided (not including the horse race and soccer markets) are pretty standard and I was not blown away by their creativity. I found a far more interesting and in-depth selection at CrossBet. That being said, if you want to bet on major events, everything is present and correct, so that’s fine with me.
Additional market details: The racing markets are especially impressive in their depth. Not only are a multitude of racehorse meetings covered from across the globe, but the markets for each race are truly superb. As well as basic fixed odds betting for standard win and place bets, you can place a variety of exotic bets including trifectas, exactas, first fours, half-the-field bets and quinellas.
Additional market details: The soccer markets at BoomBet are just as outstanding. You can choose from over 30 national leagues, plus a range of other major competitions. Game day markets typically include a vast array of options for your bet slip including match winners, line bets, over/unders and a wealth of additional markets and quick bets.
Betting features at BoomBet – Enhance your bets
The BoomBet sports betting site includes a number of features aimed at enhancing your personalised wagering experience. Under Australian law we’re not allowed to cover areas such as the BoomBet sign up bonus in this review, but we will take a look at the other features offered by this brand.
Although you cannot create your own bet builders at BoomBet, there are a number of prebuilt same game multis for major AFL and NRL fixtures. These bets can be accessed by selecting the ‘Quick SGM’ option from the event pages and adding them to your bet slip.
The early cashout options at BoomBet are limited to major fixtures. whilst live betting is not available, either online or by telephone. Similarly, there are no live streams available to watch the action unfold.

One unique feature offered by BoomBet is Hot Bet betting tips. This provides detailed analytics of how the ‘hottest’ tipsters are currently performing. You can see their recent results and their tips for upcoming races. This is designed to help you find winning bets and maybe make a big BoomBet withdrawal.
Betting features rating
- Hot Bet betting tips
- Cashouts on major events
- Pre-built bet builders
- No live bets
- No live streams
I can’t say I was overly impressed by BoomBet in this area. Yes, there are some features available to enhance my betting experience. But, compared to other online bookmakers like Neds that also specialise in horse racing, these BoomBet features are limited and not available as readily as I would have liked. As such, I gave a significantly lower score than for some other operators.
Of course, if you want to bet with BoomBet on major AFL or NRL games, then you will find cashout options and bet builders, but fans of other sports and leagues will be left disappointed. Therefore, I could not award BoomBet more points here.
The lack of telephone live betting was also disappointing and puts BoomBet well behind other Australian bookmakers like GoldBet, which offers a large number of live streams and live phone betting. I’m hoping this is something that BoomBet will develop in the near future.
Additional features: The big plus point for BoomBet in this area is the Hot Bet Betting Tips. This is a great tool for finding the best online tipsters and getting their predictions for upcoming races. To help you make informed decisions on which tipsters to trust, you can check out their profit lines. Plus you can even see the recent results of some of BoomBet’s successful punters.
BoomBet odds – Leading the way on the horses
Finding great odds for your wagers is paramount to your overall betting experience. At BoomBet, there is a major focus on horse racing odds. For major races, you can choose to bet using the starting price odds, fixed price odds, best Tote odds and ‘Best of the Best’ odds.
These options mean that BoomBet guarantees to match the best odds in the market. This regularly places the payout percentage at BoomBet well over 97%. In other words, you will not be able to find more competitive odds anywhere in Australia.
This feature is exclusive to the horse racing markets, so you will not find the same options in other sports. As such, the payout percentages across other sports on the site are lower, but still broadly in line with what you will find elsewhere. With an average payout of 96.20%, Boombet can expect a high score from us.
Odds facts
Category | Details |
---|---|
Average payout | 96.20% |
Boosted odds | Yes (20% boost on multi bets comprised of 4+ selections) |
Parlay boosts | No |
Line movement | Moderate |
If you place a successful parlay bet that contains four or more fixed odds selections, you will automatically receive a 20% boost on your potential profit. There is no limit to how many times you can take advantage of this feature.
Odds rating
- Payout percentages of 97%+ on horse race bets
- Above average payouts on other sports
- Odds boosts on successful 4-legs+ parlays
- No live odds
By guaranteeing to match the best odds in the market, BoomBet betting is really putting itself at the top of the pile along with TAB when it comes to horse racing odds. Whenever a major race comes along, I can highly recommend heading straight to BoomBet for your wagers.
Naturally, the operator is not quite as impressive in other sports, but it far outstrips the likes of WinnersBet with its average percentage payout of just 84.50%. You will regularly find payout percentages in excess of 95% at BoomBet, hence its excellent score in this area.
So overall, I found this to be an excellent and high-scoring area for BoomBet. Clearly horse racing fans are going to love being able to find industry-leading, high-quality odds, but I was also impressed with the brand’s strong performance in other sports. It is definitely worth checking BoomBet out if you want to maximise your odds.
BoomBet review: Payment methods
In this next section of our review, we are going to look at the Boombet payment methods. At the time of writing, there are five options accepted for deposits and three accepted for withdrawals.
The accepted deposit methods are Visa, MasterCard, POLi, BPAY, and bank transfer. BPAY and bank transfer requests may take up to 48 hours to arrive in your account, but all other options will lead to instant deposits.
The minimum deposit into your account is $10 and there are no fees attached to any of these payment options. There are no limits stated for maximum deposits on the BoomBet website, but the operator states that it may place limits on individual accounts.

Although withdrawals from BoomBet start at $10, there is no figure given for the maximum amount you can withdraw. However, it should be noted that the maximum amount you can win on a wager is $100,000. There are no charges applied to withdrawal requests and regardless of your withdrawal method you should receive your funds within 48 hours.

Payments rating
- Good processing times
- Fee-free
- Limited number of payment options
- No withdrawal limit information
I really like to see an operator offer at least 10 different payment options, just so that I have plenty of choice. So, I was a bit disappointed that BoomBet, like GetSetBet, only supports five payment options.
However, the $10 minimum deposit limit is similar to what you will find at many other online bookmakers. Personally, I give higher scores to brands that have slightly lower minimum deposit limits, but this is a relatively minor point and I was happy overall.
I do like it when operators such as bet365 accept additional options like the prepaid Paysafecard. Although there is nothing fundamentally wrong with the payment options at BoomBet, they are simply lacking in variety.
BoomBet safety features – Fully licensed operator
This is probably the most important area of our review. Whenever you wager online, you need to be assured of a completely secure and trustworthy betting experience. In short, you should only ever use fully licensed operators.
BoomBet Australia is licensed by the Northern Territory Racing Commission. To acquire and maintain this licence requires the operator to successfully demonstrate that it provides a fully secure betting provision throughout Australia.
Another important component of safe online sports betting is responsible gambling. To this extent, BoomBet provides a range of safer gambling tools. This allows you to limit the amount of time and money you spend at BoomBet.

Safety rating
- NTRC licence
- Approved betting partner for several sports
- Good range of safer gambling tools
I always like this to be a straightforward area to review, and that is certainly the case at BoomBet Australia. A full licence from the NTRC gives me total confidence that this is a bookmaker that can be trusted and immediately ensures a good score. They are on par with reputable operators like BetNation in this regard, so top marks here.
BoomBet also has a very good responsible gambling provision. Players can access a range of articles on the topic, as well as tools that allow them to set deposit limits and self-exclusion periods. Because of this, I am fully confident that BoomBet takes safer gambling very seriously.
My only real quibble in this area is that BoomBet seems to be a bit reluctant to display some of its credentials. For example, I could see no specific information on the level of SSL encryption. Visit a site like Elitebet and you’ll see this information readily displayed. Nevertheless, this is a strong area for BoomBet and you can use the operator with full confidence.

Support rating
- Social media support
- 4 support channels
- Live chat not available 24/7
I felt that this was almost a perfect area for BoomBet, but there is one glaring problem that adversely impacts my score – none of the support options is available 24/7. This immediately puts BoomBet behind the likes of PointsBet, which offers 24/7 live chat.
The good news is that the quality of the customer support at BoomBet is very high. All of the options I tried provided an excellent level of service from the BoomBet team. It was also good to see BoomBet offering social media support. something you do not find at ZBet.
Regardless of your preferences, you’ll find a suitable way of contacting BoomBet. If you like to bet late at night or very early in the morning, you are going to be somewhat disappointed. But for all other players, BoomBet offers a solid customer support service.
BoomBet platform – Superb mobile betting
The BoomBet website home page is clean and easy to navigate. It does have a strong focus on racing and the upcoming horse, greyhound or harness racing markets are readily visible. There are also easy links to other major sports.
If you are looking for a sporting market not highlighted on the BoomBet homepage, you can just click on the ‘Sports’ tab to see an A-Z of the sports currently available.
If you are a mobile bettor, then the new BoomBet app is available for both Apple and Android mobile devices. It offers the same features and markets as its desktop equivalent.

The Boombet Android app can be downloaded from the Google Play store and the Boombet iOS app from the iTunes store For our review, we tested both the Boombet website and mobile betting apps. In all cases, we experienced no glitches and the loading times were extremely fast on Apple, Android and Windows devices.

- Android and Apple apps available

I absolutely loved the BoomBet mobile app. It really is one of the best mobile betting options on the market. In fact, I much preferred using the BoomBet app to its desktop site. It was cleaner, faster and more intuitive.
I’ve long considered Unibet to be the leading name in Australian mobile sports betting, but the BoomBet app can now be placed on a similar pedestal. Simply put, this is an almost perfect mobile betting app and one that thoroughly deserves its excellent score.
If you are a ‘traditional’ desktop player, then you can still have a great time when you join BoomBet. The website is intuitive, easy to navigate and looks superb. Yes, a search box such as the one on the Ladbrokes site, would have been nice, but this is the only real flaw. Overall, this is an excellent betting platform for mobile players.
