Best betting sites Michigan — An eagle-eyed look
When choosing our top Michigan betting apps, our teams take into account the overall quality of the sportsbook. However, we also look at what makes these platforms specifically good for MI bettors.
We rate highly if there are local benefits like deals with MI sports teams and exclusive Michigan legal sports betting promotions.
Below, we break down the sites that made our top 3, and show you what they had to do to get there. This page focuses on sports betting, so be sure to swap over if you’re looking for Michigan online casinos.
Following Michigan Gaming Control Board regulations, FanDuel partnered with MotorCity Casino to go live in Michigan. As well as launching a retail sportsbook there, you can visit the casino to make fast deposits and withdrawals with your online account.
However, the partnerships for FanDuel don’t stop there, as the betting site is the official partner of the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings and the MLB’s Detroit Tigers. You’ll often find exclusive odds and bonuses on games featuring these teams, and both franchises frequently appear in FanDuel’s daily picks game. The sportsbook also allows you to live stream NHL games, including those that feature the Red Wings.
There is a lot for Michigan bettors to like about BetRivers, including the sportsbook’s many free games. These include its Free2Play picks game, which often features Michigan major league teams, and free bingo games.
However, the best promotion at BetRiver is its iRush Rewards program. You can earn points by placing bets to work your way up to tiers ranking, unlocking BetRivers swag, special offers, VIP dinners in Michigan, and more. In addition, you can use points you earn from betting to redeem promotions like free bets and bonus funds.
The sheer amount of sports available to bet on is a factor too; it’s the largest betting library in MI. It’s also a site that lets you bet on more than sports — you can bet on entertainment awards etc here too.
BetMGM provides bettors with 17 different sports to bet on, and a range of ongoing promotions for existing players. The daily odds boosts are a godsend, but our favorite is the MGM Rewards program, a free loyalty program that offers you real-life prizes. These include hotel stays, meals, and more at the MGM Grand in Detroit, though you can get sportsbook stuff with them too.
BetMGM is an official betting partner of the Detroit Lions, so you’ll find promotions for Lions games like odds boosts and free bets. You will also find bonuses like free Lions tickets and fan experiences in the MGM Rewards program. They’re another site that allows betting on more than just sports, allowing bets on film awards and more.

How to bet at MI sportsbooks
Even if you are entirely new to MI sports betting, betting sites try to make it as easy as possible for you to register. In fact, you can get your account set up and start betting with most Michigan sports betting apps. Follow our step-by-step guide below for advice on the information you need to register with most Michigan sports betting sites.
Sign up to one of the top Michigan sportsbooks.
Navigate to your chosen site, and hit the “Sign Up”, “Register”, or “Join” button to start the sign-up process. You’ll need to provide your full name, date of birth, address, email, phone number, and the last four digits of your Social Security number. Michigan sports betting sites need this to protect from money laundering and fraud.
Make a deposit and claim your bonus
Visit the cashier section to make your first deposit. You can choose a payment method from the options available and how much money to add. You may need to meet a minimum deposit requirement if you are claiming a welcome bonus. Most MI sports betting bonuses are applied automatically, but you might need to head to the promotions tab to opt in, or even enter a code.
Make a bet
Once you have money in your account, browse the betting site’s markets to find your first bet. You’ll find a wide range of bet types available, and clicking a wager will add it to your bet slip. In your bet slip, you will see the odds offered for your selected betting line. Choose how much money to stake and confirm your bet.
Wait and withdraw
Now that’s done, all you have to do is wait for the game to be played, and see if your predictions come true. If your wager is successful, return to the cashier section, hit withdraw, and follow the instructions on screen to confirm your payment. If you don’t want to withdraw, you can use your winnings to make more bets instantly.
Popular bets in MI
Michigan sportsbooks offer you the chance to place loads of different bets on dozens of sports. You can either place these bets before an event begins or place wagers in-play. Here are some of the most popular bets at Michigan sports betting sites, and at US betting sites overall.
- Moneyline: One of the most straightforward bets available at Michigan sports betting apps, all you need to do is pick the winner of an event. Regardless of the final score, you will get your payout if you predict the victor correctly.
- Point Spread: A point spread gives the favorite a handicap, in order to score you better odds on the best teams. If you want to back the favorite, it needs to score more than this deficit for your bet to win. However, if you’re betting on the underdog, it can lose within the point margin or win for you to collect a payout.
- Totals: With a total bet, a sportsbook will set a number for a particular statistic. You have to predict whether the final number at the end of the event will be over or under that amount. For example, over/under 2.5 goals in a soccer match.
- Player Props: A player prop is a bet on the individual statistic of an athlete, such as a certain player scoring more than 20 points in basketball.
- Team Props: Similar to a player prop, a team prop asks you to predict the statistics of a whole team, such as a team hitting more than 300 passing yards.
- Parlays: With a parlay bet, you combine multiple bets into a single wager. All of your predictions have to be correct for you to win your bet. However, you will get better odds by placing a parlay rather than betting on each market individually.
- Same Game Parlays: Rather than taking bets from different events, a same game parlay allows you to add multiple wagers from the same event into a single stake.
- Futures: A future bet is a wager placed on a significant event in the far future, like a team winning the Super Bowl or a player winning an MVP award.
