Expert verdict

Simply put, 1xBet is one of the best online bookmakers in New Zealand. It scores high marks in almost every category in this 1xBet sportsbook review, and the attractive range of sports sets it apart from the competition. The multitude of payment options, including over 40 cryptos, makes depositing and withdrawing simple for all players.

To sweeten the deal further, 1xBet’s odds on all the major sports are often near or at the top of the pile, especially for football, ensuring you get the best returns on most markets by betting at 1xBet sportsbook.

New customers will also enjoy the 1xBet bonus, which gives up to NZ$175 as a matched deposit when you become a registered customer, although this does have 5x wagering requirements. This bonus can be doubled (up to NZ$350) when using the promo code 1x_1694782.

The only real downside I found when carrying out this 1xBet review was the lack of licences beyond a Curaçao eGaming License, as this is the weakest available in terms of player safety. I would like to have seen one from the UK or Malta to strengthen 1xBet sportsbook in this area.

Bonuses at 1xBet sportsbook

1xBet welcomes newly registered players to the sportsbook with a fantastic matched deposit bonus of 100% up to NZ$175.

To make the most of your registration, use the 1xBet promo code 1x_1694782 to DOUBLE the welcome offer! That’s right, you’ll get to claim 200% up to NZ$350 instead.

All you have to do is make an initial deposit of between NZ$2 and NZ$175 using any payment method except a cryptocurrency, and 1xBet will automatically credit you with the same amount in bonus funds to use on any sport.

Once you’ve signed up at 1xBet, you’ll get access to their wide variety of promotions and bonuses, including risk-free bets on chosen events, bet insurance, and points that can be spent on free bets.

Bonus rating

90/100 Excellent welcome offer along with unique daily incentives
  • Generous welcome bonus
  • Various daily promos
  • Money-back offers
  • Can’t be claimed with crypto

This 1xBet welcome bonus is one of the best for New Zealand bettors, with NZ$175 in bonus credits extremely generous and significantly boosting your bankroll.

It’s not without flaw, though, as the 5x wagering requirement on the 1xBet bonus means you have to play through it five times before it becomes withdrawable cash. So, whilst it does give you extra funds to play with, it does require some effort before it is yours.

Everything is found under the ‘Promo’ tab at the top of the screen, including unique promotions such as Advancebet and a bonus if you lose 20 bets in a row.

Advancebet is essentially betting with credit provided to you by 1xBet, except you only pay it back if your open bets cover the amount advanced to you. If not, bets made with Advancebet are void.

The only real negative about most of 1xBet’s promos is that deposits made with cryptos aren’t eligible, which is very frustrating for a sportsbook that accepts over 40 of them.

1xBet sports and betting markets

Having a wide range of sports and markets is crucial for any New Zealand sportsbook, and punters will love the variety available at 1xBet. A good NZ sports betting site has at least 25 sports, so the incredible 57 at 1xBet shows how great this site is.

Many of these sports have upwards of 100 betting markets for each event, with the bigger events, such as tournament finals and important games, having over 300.

While writing this 1xBet review, we were pleased to find that the sportsbook offers niche events such as bare-knuckle boxing, padel, and sumo wrestling, as well as a host of popular esports titles.

There are also entertainment options for movie and TV buffs, with betting markets on the opening weekend grosses of certain films and reality TV show winners.

Sports & markets rating

92/100 Great sports diversity, including several unique markets
  • Offers 55+ sports
  • Hundreds of markets
  • Films and politics betting
  • No virtual sports

It’s difficult to say anything besides good things about this aspect of 1xBet. Having 57 sports and events to bet on blows every other Kiwi sportsbook out of the water.

Even bet365, one of the biggest sports betting sites in the world, boasts 43, which is a strong amount but nothing compared to 1xBet.
The best part is that most of these sports also carry lots of depth, so you’re rarely just limited to popular tournaments or basic markets within a sport.

For example, there are thousands of football competitions, as expected, but there are also hundreds of basketball tournaments worldwide.

Adding virtual sports would be ideal and push 1xBet even closer to a maximum score, but this is just nitpicking, as the diversity of sports and markets available means there is always something to bet on.

Betting features at 1xBet NZ

Having a good variety of betting features is no longer optional for sportsbooks, and fortunately 1xBet hits most of the mark in this category, too.

1xBet has most of the tools that punters know and love, making it near the top of New Zealand sportsbooks, with all the basic features, including cashout, bet builder, and live betting, all offered.

There’s also a convenient stats section at the top of every event, giving you all the information you could ever need about a game, such as recent form, weather, and style of play.

No virtual bets is probably the biggest miss by 1xBet as many other NZ sports betting sites offer this, but no betting exchange isn’t a huge deal here.

Betting features rating

86/100 All standard features, but poor bet builder experience
  • Live streaming
  • User-friendly bet slip
  • In-play betting stats
  • Bet Builder hidden

It’s another impressive score here for 1xBet, who continue to showcase why they are one of the best sportsbooks for Kiwi punters. Although not perfect, they’re pretty close to it.

Cashout is offered on a large range of sports and can be accessed by simply clicking on “My Bets” on the right-hand side. If a bet is eligible for cashout, the amount will be displayed, and you can decide whether to settle your bet for the value shown.

1xBet also boasts a decent, if unspectacular, bet builder feature, which has a huge problem in that it’s hidden away. On many other sites, it’s often the first or second tab at the top when you select an event, but that’s not the case with 1xBet.

Instead, it’s a small green button on the edge of the screen with what appears to be an image of a crane stacking blocks on top of each other. Sure, the image makes sense when you put it like that, but the illogical nature of using an image instead of just writing “Bet Builder” in a bigger box means 1xBet’s score takes a hit.

The other problem with 1xBet’s bet builder is that it’s pretty basic. You can combine as many markets as you like, but the overall odds are capped at 100.0, and you can’t add player markets.

Making up for the poor bet builder is the live streaming aspect, as 1xBet can show streams of many sports, including volleyball, tennis, basketball, football, and ice hockey.

1xBet sports betting odds

Having good odds can make or break a sportsbook, and for 1xBet, this is another category where they thrive, thanks to their low pre-game margins on most major sports.

Paying out at an average of 97% across the most popular sports puts them well above the average mark of 95%, with some sports paying out higher than others. For instance, football odds come in at over 98%.

It may not sound like a lot, but margins are tight when it comes to sportsbooks, so 97% being two percentage points higher than the average, is very significant.

The odds for bet builder aren’t great on 1xBet sportsbook compared to most other sites in New Zealand, which is worth considering if you like to place those kinds of wagers.

Odds rating

93/100 Above-average payouts, with football exceeding 98%
  • 97% average payouts
  • Excellent football odds
  • Generally low margins
  • Complicated fractional odds

Having average payouts of 97% is phenomenal by 1xBet as it means they are making less money per $1 wagered compared to other sportsbooks. Even bet365 only averages 95%, while Ladbrokes clocks in at a meagre 93.5%.

I was particularly impressed by the small margins available on Premier League football, with the payout coming in at over 98% in the main win-draw-win market. Other sites in New Zealand have margins of between 3-10%, depending on the game.

Although it is not reasonable to claim that 1xBet offers the best odds on all sports betting markets, it is uncommon for other sportsbooks to surpass them significantly.

The only frustrating thing about 1xBet’s odds is that they operate in decimal odds, which is fine for most players, but the old-timers who still work in fractions may become perturbed by seeing 187/250 and 233/200.

Payment methods

It’s no good finding a sportsbook you love and being unable to put money into your account. Any good betting site has at least eight on offer, and you probably won’t be surprised to learn that 1xBet carries a lot more than that – boasting 49 in total.

It’s slightly skewed because 40 of those 49 are cryptos, but 1xBet also have a minimum deposit of just NZ$2, meaning punters can get involved without spending much.

The minimum withdrawal of only NZ$2.50 also ensures players can withdraw whenever they like and is much lower than the usual $10 mark.

As stated, 40 deposit methods are various cryptos, but even discounting those nine other methods is still a great offering from 1xBet.

Payments rating

90/100 Diverse array of fiat and crypto options, with low transaction limits
  • Accepts 40+ cryptos
  • NZ$2 minimum deposit
  • Near-instant withdrawals
  • No card deposits

Given how well 1xBet has performed so far, it’s little surprise to see that they make it pretty simple to deposit with all the popular cryptocurrencies available, plus a range of other methods like Skrill.

With nerly 50 different deposit options, 1xBet blows most other sportsbooks out of the water. Other crypto betting sites like Stake and Winz.io offer only around 10 cryptocurrencies.

These deposits are instant, and so are all withdrawal methods, which is refreshing to see, with most deposit options also being able to be used to take money out. There are no fees for either transaction, which is great news.

1xBet also boasts some of the best limits available. With low deposit minimums, it earns extra points. For example, the NZ$2 minimum deposit is way below the NZ$10 limit at LeoVegas sportsbook.

The only real issue is that you can’t use popular methods like VISA, Mastercard, or PayPal to fund your account, although you can use Mastercard for withdrawing earnings.

Safety features

Safety is crucial when it comes to your money. You wouldn’t give your money to a bank without checking that it has all the right licences and follows regulations, so you should do the same about sportsbooks.

1xBet carries a Curaçao eGaming License, which provides legitimacy to the online sportsbook. However, it’s not nearly as attractive as having a licence from the UK or Malta, as these give players the best protections.

As well, there’s no information on 1xBet about the RNG audit. While this is only used on the casino side of things, as there are no virtual sports to bet on, displaying an auditor allows players to see that nothing is rigged.

Safety rating

70/100 Safe and licensed but lacks responsible gambling tools
  • Excellent SSL encryption
  • Fully licensed
  • Can self-exclude
  • Only Curaçao license
  • Minimal responsible gaming tools

The saying goes that “nobody is perfect” and this also applies to 1xBet as they are unfortunately riddled with issues when it comes to player safety.

A Curaçao eGaming License is the minimum that any online sports betting site needs to operate and provides very little protection to players compared to a UKGC or MGA licence.

Also missing are good, responsible gambling tools. Betting sites mustn’t encourage gambling addicts from playing by offering tools like deposit limits, timeouts, loss limits, and time limits.

There is some good news in that 1xBet provide top-of-the-range 2048-bit SSL encryption for players, which is much better than most others who only have 128-bit or 256-bit and saves this from getting an even lower score.

Customer support

It’s not something players ever really want to do, but if you run into any trouble, good customer support is crucial to get you back to betting.

Fortunately, 1xBet offers multiple ways to contact their customer support with agents on email, phone, WhatsApp, Twitter, and Signal, all available to answer your query.

Their FAQs section is also very detailed and answers your questions. It is found at the bottom of most pages as a bubble, enabling you to type in a keyword or two to get answers.

There is no live chat available on 1xBet, so if you want immediate answers to your problem that you can’t find in the FAQs, then WhatsApp is the way to go, as I found that they are very fast to respond with the correct answer.

Support rating

85/100 No live chat, but offers fast messaging apps support
  • WhatsApp and Signal support
  • Detailed FAQs
  • Knowledgeable agents
  • No live chat support

Order is restored here as 1xBet offer an excellent customer support experience, providing users with plenty of ways to get in touch, including unique options such as Whatsapp and Signal support.

I was initially set to give 1xBet a much lower score for not having a live chat, but this is offset by the ability to contact support via WhatsApp and Signal. Although it’s less ideal than having native customer support on the desktop or 1xBet app, it’s the next best thing.

On the flip side, 1xBet does offer 24/7 customer support. This is not always the case at sportsbooks in New Zealand. For example, Sportsbet only offers its customer support 18 hours per day.

Furthermore, I must point out that the FAQs section is quite comprehensive. By reading through it, you can get answers to most of your questions without contacting support. The section provides ample information on payments, for instance.

Platform

Whether you’re betting in a hurry or just looking around for a wager, being able to navigate a betting site smoothly and effectively is something that ranks highly in a lot of players’ wishlists.

Not only is having a good desktop platform important, but the same has to be true of the mobile site, and both versions should employ a similar house style and layout. The 1xBet app and desktop experience both hit the mark again here.

First-time bettors at 1xBet may find themselves slightly overwhelmed by what appears to be such a busy sports betting page, but it becomes clear quickly that this is one of the best platforms available in New Zealand.

Having major sports listed at the top of the page is convenient. Esports bettors will particularly love having a dropdown menu that allows you to select from various titles, including CS:GO, Dota 2, and League of Legends.

1xBet do have this for some other sports, but it’s not always clear that hovering over a sport presents hover menus, so it would be good to make it more obvious with an arrow.

Those who like to bet on mobile phones will enjoy 1xBet as the site runs excellently on mobile and desktop, making it easy to switch between the two. The 1xBet app download is found on iOS in the App Store and Google Play on Android devices, while the mobile site runs smoothly if you prefer not to download anything.

FAQs

Is 1xBet sportsbook safe?

1XBet is a fully authorized and regulated online sportsbook and casino owned by ACOM Latin America N.V., an iGaming company based in Curaçao. Like other sportsbooks operating in New Zealand, it holds a license from the Curaçao government. Additionally, the operator provides a reliable online gambling service by implementing 2048-bit encryption, KYC protocols, and other advanced features.

How do I register with 1xBet?

There are multiple ways to sign up at 1xBet, but the quickest way is via one-click registration. You don’t have to fill in any personal information, and if you select New Zealand as your country and New Zealand dollars as your currency, then you’re ready to bet. Beware that registering this way generates you a random username and password, so make sure to write them down.

Alternatively, you can register to 1xBet sports via email, which involves entering your name and city, or by phone, which only requires your number. Finally, 1xBet also offers social network login, which links to social media sites like Facebook or Telegram. All of these methods are eligible for the 1xBet sign-up offer.

Can I use a 1xBet bonus for betting?

Yes. Many promos are available, including the 1xBet welcome bonus, which matches the initial deposit up to NZ$175 when you use any payment options except crypto. No 1xBet promo code is required for this. Other bonuses for registered users can be found in the “promo” tab of the online sports betting site, including free bet offers, money back, and bet insurance.

Is it possible to bet with 1xBet bonus money?

To bet with any 1xBet bonus money you have, select the bonus account in the bet slip when you input your wager, and the funds come out of your bonus amount rather than your withdrawable cash. Remember that bonus money can only be earned when you use any other payment method to deposit than cryptos and that no 1xBet promo code is required for any advertised bonus.

How do I use 1xBet sportsbook?

You can use 1xBet sportsbook on both desktop and mobile devices, such as a phone or tablet, and the great news is that it’s very user-friendly on both. Simply register as normal and deposit to claim the 1xBet welcome bonus, select which sport you want to bet on, and find the market. Once it’s been added to your bet slip, decide how much to wager, place the bet, and wait for it to settle.

What sports are on 1xBet?

1xBet offer 57 sports to bet on, from popular ones like football, cricket, rugby, and tennis to more niche ones such as sumo, hurling, and muay Thai. These sports have both pre-game and live betting options, including accumulator bets and outrights for those who like to have an interest for longer than just a single game.
