Expert verdict

Neds is a solid Australian-based sportsbook that accepts players from New Zealand. There are more than 25 different sports on offer, each with many markets per game.

The site is also home to several top bonuses; you just need to get the Neds code to activate them. Once you log in, you can also find more daily offers in the convenient Neds Toolbox.

Although the site focuses on racing, it’s also got a wide array of other sports. These include domestic and international events, which can be used to get a bonus with the Neds code.

Across the board, in fact, this is a strong site. It’s got excellent support, a phone line, multiple payment options and much more. We recommend playing here.

Neds betting bonuses

We’re kicking off this Neds review with a look at the different bonus bets and Neds promotions that you can find here. One of the first things you will do when checking out any new betting site is see whether there’s something extra in it for you. And there is. Neds offers several exciting bonus bets and more.

However, on the surface, it looks like Neds offers nothing. And this is because the Australian government has prohibited betting sites from advertising any bonuses offered to Aussie bettors. Neds has carried this over to its Kiwi site in case any Australian punters visit it.

Instead, once you sign up for Neds racing, you’ll have to go to the Neds promotions page within your betting account to see what offers you have available. Make sure you claim the Neds code to help you.

Once you have claimed your Neds sign up bonus, this is not the end of the Neds offer options. Head to the Toolbox, and you’ll be greeted with exclusive Neds betting options and various Neds promo codes to use.

Bonus rating

88/100 Lucrative welcome offer
  • Bonus bets offered
  • Impressive ongoing promotions
  • Various daily offers
  • Bonus only after login

I will say this, once you log in, the Neds sign up offer for NZ players is a very lucrative one. It’s just annoying that you can’t see it in advance. But this can’t be helped and applies to other Aussie-owned sportsbooks like Sportsbet.

Where this site truly excels is in the sheer number of bonus bets, free bets and fixed odds bet offers available. There’s even a bet boost button when you log in. Where to find it all? Simple. Just go to the Toolbox, and it’s all there.

I found that depending on the offer, you do need to provide a Neds bonus code to claim it. But the site makes these very clear and easy to find. They even explain how the Neds bonus codes work so you won’t struggle here.

I couldn’t be happier with the options here. It blows most of the competition out of the water, including the NZ-based TAB.

Neds racing and other markets

A big part of playing at an online site like this is accessing various sports. Ideally, the best sites have more than 20 on offer.

Neds has 28 sports betting markets available. These include top sports such as horse racing, cricket, rugby union, American football, soccer and more. There is also a good selection of different unique bets too.

You can also find a selection of different tournaments and leagues within each betting market. These are from worldwide, so you can enjoy an eclectic mix.

Depending on the sport, there is a wide array of betting markets too. Some sports, for example, American football, have over 90 options. Others, like cricket, have fewer at around 50 per game. Read on to find out more in our Neds review.

Sports & markets rating

82/100 Good selection of different sports
  • Strong racing section
  • Novelty bets
  • Alphabetised list
  • Limited smaller sports options

There was a lot for me to like here as there are over 25 sports. However, this is far from the 32 sports at Royal Panda, which is disappointing.

However, on average, there are some 70 or so markets per game across all sports. And this is a nice average I can get on board with. However, it is far from the massive 170 markets on offer at bet365 when it comes to football.

Of course, racing is the priority here, but it works. There are three racing options; you can toggle between these quickly and easily.

I liked the fact that there is the Filter Form and the Punter Assist options when you log in to your account. These make racing betting so much easier.

Additional market details: Horses are the priority here, and numerous AUS and NZ races are available to prove it. Many live-streaming and betting options involve these races over any other sport. Plus, the bonus bets are predominantly for the racing betting markets.

Additional market details: Cricket, too, is very popular. Many of the big international events can be found here. And some fascinating daily betting options are available when you claim Ned’s bonus code. Clicking on cricket brings up all the One Day Internationals, and Futures outrights and more.

Betting features at Neds

When playing online, you want to play somewhere that gives you the most help possible. This is where the various betting tools and features come in.

And it’s also here that Neds excels. Once you log in to your Neds account, you can see the Neds Toolbox. This contains various tools for you to use during the day.

Each of the tools here is for different offers and bet types. They include a price boost for higher odds, multi-bets, extra nudges, and much more to make filling in your bet slip easy.

It’s also worth noting that Neds offers some of the more usual betting tools. These include a straightforward bet builder and the option to cash out early to score a profit.

Betting features rating

90/100 Excellent Neds Punters Toolbox
  • Cash out available
  • Simple to use interface
  • Good bet builder
  • Live betting via phone only

I was impressed here. Yes, this is probably one of the highest scores in this category, but it deserves it.

And yes, you got me. This high score is primarily because there is the Neds Punters Toolbox available once you log in to your Neds account.

This is an exciting set of betting tools and a great way to get players like myself excited to play. It’s also really great for newcomers as it explains what each of the different options can do. I have to hand it to Neds here, making filling in a bet slip even easier than the Easy Form feature at Ladbrokes.

There’s even a section that gives toolbox tips, which is great. Clicking here takes you to some expert thoughts relating to the different sports. And no, it’s not just about the horses.

Impressively, I found excellent tennis, basketball, cricket and more tips. The blog is carefully divided into different sections and puts the offerings from FansBet to shame.

Additional features: The Filter Form is an excellent feature on Neds. It allows you to create singles and multi-bets across all three racing options on the site. Then, once you have inputted the different bets, the Filter Form does the hard work for you. Simply set your bet, and away you go to see if you can get a win.

Neds sports betting odds

Getting your hands on competitive odds is the best way to get ahead at many online bookmakers. Of course, you can also get a Neds code to give you a good bonus too.

When we check out the odds, the way we do this is to look at the payout percentage. We always want to see a sportsbook offering around the 95% payout mark.

Anything higher than this will score as “excellent”. But, we try to avoid sites that offer less than 93%, but that’s not an issue here. Neds sits at a whopping 97% putting it in the very top bracket.

As you can imagine, the in play betting payout drops a little. This is generally the norm, though and not something that is overly surprising to us.

Odds rating

92/100 Very competitive odds across all sports
  • Easy to see odds
  • High payouts given
  • Regular odds boosts
  • Odds drop for live bets

No lies. My jaw dropped when I saw the payout percentages here. These are absolutely top-notch and, without a doubt, the best I’ve seen in NZ.

Football, AFL and horse races all top the odds leaderboard here, each offering an average payout percentage of 97% when you place a bet on them. Sports like cricket and tennis are also high. This far exceeds the payouts from big names like bet365, and its 94.90% average!

Yes, the live betting odds do drop. But even though they drop more than 2%, this is still significantly better than most other NZ sportsbooks. And yes, it beats out sites like LeoVegas and it’s 87.96% live bet payouts with ease.

So there’s not much to complain about here. Neds betting site is one of the best I’ve seen for odds, which means it’s a no-brainer to try placing a few wagers here.

I guess it’s not surprising, though, as Neds is now part of the Ladbrokes company. As such, it does have access to much more competitive odds. You’re not hearing me complain, though!

Payment methods

When you play online, it’s important that you can choose a good payment method that offers safe and secure payments to your Neds account. We like to see at least ten different options.

The Neds website does a good job with eight payment methods available. These cover several diverse options, including PayPal and the Neds card.

These payment methods can be used to deposit and claim any Neds promotions. This is a big plus when playing on the site.

Payments rating

85/100 Good choice of trusted payment options
  • Fast withdrawals on weekdays
  • Fee free transactions
  • Weekend withdrawals take longer

I don’t have a lot of issues when it comes to the payment methods that Neds has on offer. There are eight of them, and these are all pretty diverse though it does seem that the Neds card also offers some good perks.

I was annoyed, though, as it took a lot of work to find concrete information in the help section regarding the minimum and maximum limits. I had to contact support to find out things. This was also the case with PlayUp, as I needed help finding information regarding the maximum deposit or withdrawal limits.

Importantly, while there is only a three-day turnaround for withdrawals, this depends on your request within the week. Withdrawals are only processed Monday to Friday.

Any requests made after Friday at 2.30 pm will take much longer as they won’t be processed over the weekend. That being said, this is still better than the potential 10-day turnaround offered by other online bookmakers, such as William Hill sportsbook, for card payments. You will also need to make sure you verify your account before a withdrawal request too.

Safety features

One of the things we focus on is providing players with safe and secure betting sites to enjoy. The first thing we take a look at is licensing.

We never recommend a site that doesn’t hold a licence. Neds has one from the NT Racing Commission, meaning it has to abide by Australia’s gambling laws or cease operations.

It is protected by SSL encryption protocols too. These are in place to prevent third parties from getting their hands on your private personal and banking data. It’s a must.

A further step this sportsbook takes to keep you safe is the responsible gaming tools it has in place. The Neds Toolbox in this area is excellent, with many ways to limit or restrict online betting.

Safety rating

80/100 Decent security but nothing out of the ordinary
  • Various responsible gambling tools
  • Fully licensed
  • SSL encryption in place
  • No proprietary gaming tools

I was a bit disappointed here. Since this site is closely linked to Ladbrokes, I expected more regarding security.

Yes, the basics are all there, but they are just that… basic. Okay, they are enough, as the SSL encryption is still better than most. But it’s not the hugely encrypted setup that Ladbrokes has with 2048-bit encryption protocols.

That said, 256-bit encryption is much better than the 128-bit encryption and weaker Curaçao licence found at other online bookmakers like MyBookie.

The responsible gambling tools are comprehensive and helpful too. You can find them neatly tucked into the help section or through the footer at the bottom. The site has never been blacklisted, and it has a decent reputation in Australia and New Zealand. It’s growing in popularity too, which is nice to see.

Customer support

Getting in touch swiftly and easily with support is essential if you’ll have a good time online. We always take a look to see what each sportsbook has to offer.

Ideally, we want to see a sportsbook offering three or more contact options, and this is exactly what Neds website does. There are three different options: live chat, email and phone number.

For the phone, there are two lines. One is for support, and the other is to make a live bet. Make sure that you call the right one.

Support rating

85/100 Multiple avenues of support
  • 24/7 support
  • Two phone lines
  • Good help section
  • No sticky live chat

As part of the Neds Punters Toolbox, I was pleased to see various options for contacting support.

First and foremost, the site has 24/7 support, which is a must for me. Then, there is the fact that the best option is live chat. I couldn’t say the same about LeoVegas, though. Its live chat is only operational between 8 am and 2 am NZDT.

Additionally, Neds live chat is very responsive, even if I’d prefer not to look for it in the help section as I did. Not complaining, though, as the staff were accommodating when I got through to them.

I was impressed too that there is a good phone line in place. This is here because of the need to place live bets, but it’s nice that there’s a separate option for talking to support directly too. Betway is one of the few other sites to offer this.

Platform

When you get started at an online sportsbook, it must offer a good platform. This should be usable and accessible for all bettors, not just regular players.

Neds Sportsbook Mobile Screenshot

Neds has made a good effort here, offering a clean, easy-to-use interface. Down the left are all the different options, including the sports, how-to’s, what’s new, blog, and punter assist.

There are no filters for the sports, but this is optional as everything is alphabetised. Clicking on each sport immediately takes you to the different sporting events and available bets.

Overall, I was very pleased with what Neds offered when I went on the desktop and app versions of the site. The site is straightforward and almost impossible to get lost, which I loved.

However, you’ll know by now that I dislike large white areas, which is the case here. In the future, I’d love to see Neds offer a dark-mode version of their site, just like 888Sport.

That being said, the design is excellent and loads well. Like BetVictor, which has excellent apps, Neds design is the same for the mobile site and the apps. Nothing lags, and everything loads smoothly, which is a must.

Finally, the site strives to help out players at every turn. For instance, I could access expert tips, stats and race day information at just the click of a button. It couldn’t be easier.

FAQs

Who owns the Neds betting site?

Neds is owned by Entain, which is also part of the Ladbrokes franchise. It’s actually why these sites are so similar. The site is fully licensed and offers several top Neds promotions for old and new punters to claim when they play here. The Neds website is also nicely designed, giving you access to a strong Neds Toolbox to help you play.

Does Neds betting site have a max payout?

The maximum payout on Neds is not specifically listed. Rather, it says this is subject to restrictions. There is a listed amount of just NZ$10,000, but you can get a higher payout than this. However, it is worth noting that Neds has occasionally restricted winning players, which is a bit of a downside here and rather unappealing.

Do you need a Neds bonus code to sign up?

Neds will match your first deposit. It’s more of a match bet where you can have it matched up to NZ$200. You will need to use the Neds code to claim the offer. You’ll be prompted to do so when you complete the Neds sign up process. If you don’t take it immediately, you can claim it within 3 days from your player account. Just don’t forget the Neds code when you do!

Can you cash out at Neds?

Yes, Neds has a cash out option. You can enjoy both full and partial cash out at this sportsbook. This is only available on live bets though. Remember, these bets need to be placed via phone and cannot be placed yourself via the online platform. However, you can use the Neds code to get more offers on live bets too.

How long does the Neds sign up bonus cash last?

Usually, you have to use your sign up bonus, and any other bonus gained from the Neds code within 7 days of claiming it. After this, you will lose the betting bonus. You must also claim the sign up bonus within 3 days of making a betting account. And you need to verify your account within this timeframe. Otherwise, you will need to make a new account and start again.
