Palmerbet review: Australian-owned bookie with superb prices
Palmerbet is a family-run bookie backed by six decades of delivering exceptional care and competitive lines to punters in Australia.
The operator stands out when it comes to all things sports, but could use a lift in areas of support and platform usability. More on payments, safety, markets, and betting features detailed in our Palmerbet sportsbook review.

Expert verdict
If we’re honest, Palmerbet really does tick many boxes. There are 27 different sports available and these include some of the more niche or unusual sports as well. Better still, there are events from around the world.
If you want to join Palmerbet, the process is incredibly easy and can be done via the desktop version of the site or on the Palmerbet app. All the same features are available on all platforms.
The site has great odds in place too so you can get some top fixed odds bets. Once you get a Palmerbet account, you can also boost your experience by taking on some of the Palmerbet promotions that are available via a promo code.
Finally, Palmerbet Australia offers boosted odds, great security and solid support, although this is not available 24/7. In short, it’s made a splash ever since it arrived on the online bookmaker scene and isn’t going anywhere any time soon.

Sports & markets rating
- Strong domestic markets
- Great racing markets offered
- Lacks more niche sports
Alongside the fast Palmerbet withdrawal time, I was really pleased to see a strong selection of betting markets particularly when it came to domestic sports and leagues and also horse racing.
I liked the strong focus on all horse racing options here. This is a big departure from Picklebet, which had no racing options at all, so more points go to PalmerBet for that in my view.
Of course, Palmerbet is still not quite in the 40+ sports league like bet365 but few sportsbooks are. I did enjoy everything I found here, to be honest, and really liked the inclusion of more unique betting markets as well.
Additional market details: Aussie Rules is one of the top sports that Palmerbet offers. There are a myriad different bet types on offer and these include the ability to make a multi bet, place futures bets, bonus money bets and more. Of course, the focus is on domestic leagues but it does mean some excellent first fixed win bet options too.
Additional market details: Unsurprisingly, Palmerbet racing is one of the top sporting sections. This doesn’t just include nominated thoroughbred races, but also harness racing and greyhound racing too. When it comes to a racing bet, there are many options including each way bets, a multi bet, price push and more.
Betting features at Palmerbet
In addition to the option of claiming a Palmerbet bonus bet, you can also enjoy a wealth of different betting tools and features, all of which are there to make your experience even better.
To start, Palmerbet offers players the chance to cash out on bets when they are in-play betting. So yes, this means that live betting is an option on some sports but you will have to phone in to get the fixed odds price.
There is an excellent bet slip in place that allows you to place single bets or, if you want to boost your racing money, you can also employ the bet builder to create multi-bets as well.

There are many Palmerbet promotions that can be claimed but only once you have signed up and logged into your account. Palmerbet offers a price push, bonus bet matching, racing bonus bets and more on your first bet. These just can’t be advertised by the site.
Betting features rating
- Same game multi bets
- Easy-to-use bet builder
- Cash out available
- No live streaming
I was very happy to see a wide array of bonus bet matching options, Palmerbet promo codes and other betting tools to help players get a boost when playing here. Speaking of boosts, I really like the price push available for some of the racing bet options.
Additionally, I was pleased to see that there is live betting and cash out on offer, even if I had to phone in for the odds and to place the bet. The only site that doesn’t have to phone in to place in play wagers is Betfair, so this is the norm.
I will say that the only thing I felt was missing was any live streaming. Sites like Unibet do this very well by having their own TV widget on their site. In future, I’d like some streaming options even if it’s just for Palmerbet racing, just to bump up this score.
Additional features: Same game multi bets are an exciting option that allows you to combine multiple bets into a single one. At Palmerbet, not only can you make same game multis, but you can also place same race multi bets as well. A multi bet like this means you can combine your first racing bet with your second racing bet to create one larger bet.
Palmerbet sports betting odds
It’s very important to be able to access the most competitive odds, but as these are always changing, it can be hard to know who’s on top here. This is why we always look at the payout percentages.
The best sites have a payout percentage from 95% to 97% and any site offering less than 93% is one that we recommend avoiding. At Palmerbet, the payout is 94.94%, just below that 95% mark.
Of course, this is an overall percentage, so when we looked at individual sports, we found that many of them were far over that 95% mark. Football was the lowest scoring at a low 94%.

We were unable to find any live odds to calculate the percentage payout for in play betting. This is because all live odds are only provided over the phone in compliance with Australian gambling regulations.
Odds rating
- Domestic sports have high odds
- Above-average payouts
- No live odds listed
I was over the moon to see just how high the Palmerbet odds were here. Even just short of 95%, these Palmerbet odds are outstanding and deserving of a lot of praise.
The high odds are particularly noticeable on domestic sports and leagues with Aussie Rules standing out here. Yes, it’s not quite at the heights of Neds with its average of 97%, but give it time and I think it will be.
I was surprised to see that it also beats other sites that I had previously thought were top of the lot (yes, it’s better than Bet Right for odds), so that was also a nice find.
Payment methods found in our Palmerbet review
As you have to transfer money to a betting site in order to place your bets, you need to actually have access to safe, secure payment methods to do this. And, you should have a variety of options.
Top sites will offer around ten payment options covering all the different payment types. Palmerbet offers players a choice of seven payment methods including cards, bank transfer, POLi, BPAY and PayPal with which to place their racing bonus bets.
There is a low minimum deposit and withdrawal limit of AU$10 for most payment methods. The only one higher is BPAY, which has a minimum deposit of AU$25 in place. Not all payments can be used for withdrawals though.

Across the board, deposits are instant. The only exceptions here are bank transfer and POLi, both of which can take a day or two, which means planning ahead when you use these payment methods to fund a racing bet. Withdrawal options are limited, but you can get a payout in 48 hours if you make sure you submit your request before 2 pm and use bank transfer.
Payments rating
- Speedy deposits
- No fees
- Limited withdrawal options
Again, you can colour me impressed here as there are eight different payment methods that Palmerbet offers players. This means that you can really get a bit of choice when you want to deposit and place a racing bet on your bet slip.
Palmerbet actually matches some of the top sites such as Sportsbet, which also has eight payment methods. The only difference I found here was that Palmerbet has a minimum deposit limit of AU$10, whereas Sportsbet’s minimum is AU$5 but this is negligible for me.
I also really appreciated just how fast some of the withdrawal options are. With 48-hour turnaround times, this is significantly better than most, some sites don’t even give transaction times – yes, ReadyBet, I am looking at you.
Safety features
Being able to stay safe online is a must, especially if you are depositing and trying to get the best bonus bet value possible. You need to know that your funds are safe, which is why we always check the licencing.
Palmerbet is licenced by Racing NSW and OLGR. It also makes sure that it abides by the Australian Bookmakers Code of Practice to ensure everything it does is completely above board.
This means that it is also SSL encrypted. By having this encryption in place, player data is protected so that third parties can’t access any of your bank details and personal info when you provide them to the site.

This is another big tick in the box for me as I continue my Palmerbet app review. The security here is great and prevalent across all betting platforms so it doesn’t matter whether you’re playing on your phone or a computer.
As with all sites, Palmerbet is fully licenced. However, it is a little different from the norm as it holds a licence with Racing NSW rather than, like Ladbrokes, with the much more commonly used NTRC. It’s still just as good though.
Another point in favour of Palmerbet is, even though it’s been around for a while, the fact that it’s never been blacklisted or found guilty of breaking any gambling rules. In direct contrast, the new Bet Nation site has already been fined even though it’s not been operational that long.
Customer support
Many players make the mistake of not checking out the customer support options. Even if a site works really well, you should always take a look at how to get in touch.
Ideally, we like to see three options including a live chat and 24/7 support. Palmerbet only has two contact options and these are via email or phone. There are two phone lines, one is for placing a live bet.
There is no live chat available. Nor is there 24/7 support. The opening hours are limited to just Monday to Saturday with the latest time anyone is online being 6 pm AEST.

The FAQ is very comprehensive and covers a lot of the smaller betting details such as how to place a racing bet, what is the bonus bet value, how to find nominated races and so on.
Support rating
- Email and phone
- Excellent FAQ
- Slow response time
- No live chat
After such a good run, I was more than a little disappointed to find that the support at Palmerbet really isn’t all that great. In fact, it was a shock to find that there is no live chat, so I did deduct some points for that.
I was also rather shocked to find how limiting the opening hours actually are. Palmerbet doesn’t even operate on Sundays and has shorter operating hours than Bbet even, so again, points came off.
Okay, so you may be wondering why it’s still not the lowest, and that’s because there’s an excellent FAQ section. CrossBet, gets a lower score because there is no FAQ. But at Palmerbet, the FAQ was a delight. It does make up for the lack of other support features.
Platform and usability
Finally, it’s great to find a site that has all the features you want, but it’s even better if the site is very user-friendly and intuitive. This is why we take a look at the overall working of every site.

Palmerbet has a simple blue and white design that makes everything very clear to read. You can check out all the different Palmerbet racing and sports options via a menu on the left side.
Price push, enhanced odds and the various multis can be found as clickable links here as well. There’s even a blog to give you more information on Palmerbet racing and other sports.

- Mobile compatible
- Android and iOS apps
- Glitch-free interface
- No app-store support
I have to say that I really love the Palmerbet layout and design. Okay, no there isn’t a dark mode, but the way this looks and navigates is a dream so I can’t really fault the work done here.
Unlike GetSetBet, Palmerbet also has a search function (though it still lacks filters), but when you go to the main sports section, everything is laid out so intuitively, that you don’t really need them.
There’s no confusion here or glitches, not like sites such as BlueBet where finding all the sports is hard. If I have to nitpick, you can only download the apps from Palmerbet, they’re not in the app stores. But, I’m not even sure this is a downside! Top marks here.
