Expert verdict
Unibet and the Kindred Group have been consistently successful over many years. They have been able to sustain their business when others have failed, and we can see why they’ve been so successful when we look at the site.
With 37 sports and racing events to choose from and countless sports betting markets, Unibet caters well to the Australian market. It covers sports that Australians particularly love like cricket and Aussie Rules.
However, it doesn’t stop there, it also offers niche sports like chess. The site itself is easy to navigate and the design is bold, but not overpowering. The brand has been consistent over the years, and strives to improve.
Also, it has great customer support and some fantastic promotions for Aussie players. Its odds aren’t bad either. Although there isn’t a Unibet sign up offer, overall, we can safely say this is a really good site for Aussie players.
Sports and markets at the Unibet sportsbook
Although Australian laws prohibit any sportsbooks advertising any bonuses, that means that the Unibet sign up bonus is not available. However, it’s still worth signing up and checking out other Unibet promotions and sports markets. Players can also enjoy a deposit match bonus.
Generally, we like to see sportsbooks with over 30 sports markets and Unibet ranks very well here, with 31. Unibet betting site covers many sports including Unibet racing markets, international and Australian sports. You will find all the high-profile sports here, like Aussie rules betting, football, horse racing and cricket.
Additionally, you can also bet on Politics and Novelty events. At the moment, you can bet on politics in Australia, Finland and UK. Although it is prohibited by law for sportsbooks to advertise their bonuses, there is a Unibet deposit match bonus on offer once you’ve signed up.

Having reviewed many Australian bookmakers, I can safely say this is a good one. I was really impressed with the number of sports bets that can be placed on this site. Also, once you have your Unibet account, the Unibet withdrawal time is pretty fast.
When I compared Unibet to another international bookie, Ladbrokes. I was pleased to see that Unibet offers 37 sports markets, compared to Ladbrokes‘s 28. This shows how good Unibet’s range of sports is.
After all, smaller bookmakers like Picklebet only offer 20 sports. Picklebet also offers far fewer betting markets. For example, there are only four markets available for Aussie Rules at the moment. Therefore, I felt that Unibet deserved a very high score from me.
Additional market details: As you would expect from an Australian betting site, there is also a bet market for surfing. At the moment, Unibet is taking bets on the WSL Men’s championship tour and the WSL Women’s championship tour.
Additional market details: Horse racing markets are also widely available on this site. Not only does Unibet cover horse racing events in Australia, but it also covers international events. Unibet offers live streaming so players can bet live.
Betting features at Unibet
A really great sportsbook gives players plenty of ways to bet and makes it easy for them to place bets. Unibet has a simple system for betting and there is a host of betting features including Unibet live betting. There are even Unibet bonus bets available to players with a Unibet account.
The site had an easy-to-use bet slip on the right of the screen. You can view your bets and add promotions. Unibet also highlights popular bets, like ‘Trending Multi’ or ‘Featured Outright’ on the Sports homepage.
You can take advantage of Unibet’s live betting and live streaming features. Not all Australian bookies offer these features, so it does put Unibet in the top tier of bookmakers.

Unibet has a huge number of betting markets on offer. Even compared to some of its biggest rivals, this bookie is impressive with over 999+ markets for ice hockey alone. Players who sign up can also take advantage of the Unibet free bet offer and add it to the bet slip.
Betting features rating
- Huge selection of betting features
- Can make multis and complex bets
- Easy to use bet slip
- No betting exchange
- Not many Novelty markets
I’m pleased to say that Unibet has definitely not disappointed me with its betting features. You can enjoy a wealth of features like Unibet live streaming, live betting and multis.
When I looked at one of Unibet’s competitors, Elitebet, I found that it didn’t have the information boxes that detail ‘Trending Multis’ and ‘Featured Outright’. I really like these features, as they let players know what the popular bets are and give them some ideas.
One downside, Unibet doesn’t have a sports betting exchange like Betfair. I was hoping that a sportsbook as large as this would have an exchange. That’s why I couldn’t give Unibet an even higher mark.
Additional features: One of the best bet features on the Unibet site is its Statistics and Live scores section. This area can be accessed from the Sports homepage and details all of the statistics for Unibet’s markets. This is very helpful, as you can quickly look up the results for teams and events they’re interested in.
Unibet sports betting odds
When you look for a sportsbook, you should always pay close attention to the odds. After all, the odds can make a big difference to your potential profit should you land a win.
Unibet has a reputation for paying out high odds. We like to see an average payout of between 95% – 97% and Unibet matches up to this well, with an impressive payout 95%.
When we compared Unibet to other bookmakers, we found that their odds to do tend to be higher. Therefore, Unibet does give you a good return on a Unibet bet. Players who are streaming Unibet, can also place live bets, with live odds and sometimes use a promo code.

Due to Australian law, no bonus bets can be advertised by Unibet. However, once you have a Unibet account, you can login and see the Unibet promotions. You will find offers involving free bets and better odds.
Odds rating
- Ability to boost odds
- Consistently high odds across sports
- Many Unibet offers to boost odds
- In-play average betting payout could be higher
- Odds can vary a lot across markets
To be honest, I was expecting a lot from the Unibet website in terms of its odds. This sportbook has an international reputation for giving great odds. So I was very pleased to see that it lived up to that reputation.
When I compared Unibet’s average payout percentage against another big player, bet365, I found that Unibet came in at 95% and bet365 at 94.9%. Therefore, I really felt that I was justified in giving Unibet a very high score.
Not only does this bookmaker have great odds, but it also offers a host of fantastic ways to boost odds. Once players have logged in, they can see a wide selection of Unibet offers and use a promo code.
However, players should always remember to read the Unibet promotions terms. Although PlayUp also has some promotions to boost odds, it has fewer than Unibet.
Unibet review – payment methods
Generally speaking, we like to see a good range of betting payment options at a sportsbook. Ideally, there should be around ten methods. That’s because players need to have a choice of deposit and withdrawal methods.
Unibet has five deposit methods, which is quite average. There are only three withdrawal methods. This number may vary from state to state. It has a choice of traditional banking methods and newer, online methods.
Most of these methods allow players to have a minimum withdrawal and deposit amount of $10. However, this can vary depending on the method used. For example, the minimum for using VISA or Mastercard is AU$5, but its AU$20 for PayPal.
Payment facts

Number of payment methods | 5 |
Popular payment | Apple Pay |
Minimum deposit | AU$5 |

Maximum withdrawal | AU$100,000 |
Average withdrawal time | 72 hours+ |

The banking methods on offer range from the more traditional methods Visa, Mastercard, and wire transfer. Also, there are Australian-specific methods like POLi. Added to this are PayPal and ApplePay. Therefore, you have a reasonable choice of payment methods. All deposits are instant except POLi which can take up to 2 days. There are no transaction fees.

Payments rating
- 5 deposit methods
- Only 3 withdrawal methods
- Minimum deposit AU$5
- Withdrawals can take up to 5 days
I’m a little disappointed with Unibet’s range of payment methods. However, when I looked at some of the other sportsbooks, I found that they tend to have even fewer methods on offer. For example, CrossBet only has four deposit methods.
While players have fewer withdrawal methods, there are still three good methods to choose from. They can use a credit card or PayPal. Another plus for Unibet is that there is no maximum withdrawal limit for PayPal. This is fantastic for high rollers and I gave Unibet even higher points for this.
Finally, I felt that Unibet deserved a high score on payment methods because its deposit amounts are very low. Players using VISA/Mastercard only need an AU$5 deposit. However, when I looked at Winnersbet, it asks for AU$10.
Safety features
This is an area that is often over-looked, but it’s vitally important to the player and the sportsbook. It is important to take some time to find out what steps the sportsbook takes to ensure the safety of players’ data and funds.
Unibet takes security seriously and lays out its security measures clearly in its Privacy Policy. Here, you will find details of what information Unibet collects, how it stores that information, and what encryption it uses.
It uses 128-bit encryption to ensure that all data sent or received is not usable if it is intercepted by a third party. Additionally, the sportsbook continually updates its software and hardware to ensure that it keeps up-to-date with new threats.

It’s hard for me to find anything to complain about, with respect to safety and security. This is such an important aspect of an online sportsbook, that I took a really good look at Unibet. I found that it has security as a top priority and that’s why I gave such a high score.
The sportsbook is very clear about its security protocols, which is not always the case with bookies. When I looked at TopSport’s privacy policy, it said nothing about the actual security steps it takes to protect players’ data.
I found that Neds is also impressive on the security front. It is clear about the servers it uses, and just like Unibet, it prioritizes security. So, I can say that Unibet compares well to other bookies, and it seems to take reasonable steps to protect Australian punters.
Customer support
Another key, but often overlooked aspect of a good betting site, is its customer support options. I like to see at least three options, where at least one is available 24/7.
Unibet offers four customer support channels. It has a live chat and helpline, which are available from 8.30am to 5am AET, email address, and a help centre.
Although the live chat and helpline aren’t quite 24/7, they’re not far off. If you can wait a little longer for a response, you can use the email address.

There is also a search bar which allows you to search across all sports. It will return results for teams, players or leagues. This can be very useful, as there are a lot of sports on the site, so sometimes it can be useful and fast to use the search facility.
Support rating
- Live chat available
- Helpline available
- Comprehensive help centre
- Live chat and helpline are not 24/7
- Emails can take a while to get a response
I was pleased to see that Unibet has so many customer support channels. In particular, I like the fact that it has a helpline. Not that many sportsbooks have them. When I checked out the support options on SportsChamps, I found it only has live chat and email.
I was a little disappointed that the chat and helpline aren’t open for the full 24 hours, especially when I saw that customer support at Booki is available 24/7.
Having looked around at other bookies customer support channels, I feel that I have been fair to give Unibet such a high score. The sportsbook has covered all the bases well, and players can contact it in a number of different ways.
Platform and usability
Ideally, players shouldn’t really need to notice the usability of a site. It should be good enough that they are able to find their way around the site without any issues, the site shouldn’t freeze or crash and they should like the look of it.
Unibet has redesigned its site and mobile betting app many times over the years and has learnt from its mistakes. The site it has now has a simple green, black and white colour palette and its design is instantly recognisable.
Even though there is a lot of information to load on its pages, the load time is fast. It’s easy to see all the bets and other options because the central content area is white with black text.

Unibet provides players with the ability to download the Unibet app on their phones or to use its site as a mobile site. This means that players can use the Unibet Australia app instead of having to go to the site on their browser.

Platform rating
- Simple colour palette
- Easy-to-use navigation
- Fast load times and app
- Font in the left navigation is small
I really like the design and build of the Unibet site. Even the logo is simple but distinctive. I looked at GetSetBet which very similar look to Unibet, but I found that it was harder to navigate and didn’t load as quickly.
Palmerbet is another similar site, but it seems to load quicker and is easy to navigate. However, it doesn’t have the distinctiveness of Unibet. I thought its colour palette of blues and white was dull compared to Unibet’s green, black and white.
Unibet is one of the older sites around, and its design can be seen to not have as much use of colour as newer sites. However, I think it deserves a high score because it is simple to use and easy to look at.
