Expert verdict

After spending some time with PlayZilla, I feel it’s a strong contender for the Canadian market. 4,000+ games is a big highlight, and those games are curated by 99 software providers.

The live casino section is well taken care of by nine live providers, although some key games were missing. Another area that impressed me was the bonuses section. The welcome bonus is fine, but the three weekly free spins reloads and two cashback bonuses are a nice touch.

What needs some work is the Responsible Gambling (RG) section. It’s limited to just one tool, being self-exclusion. While it’s essential, there should also be other limiting tools available to give players a more rounded toolbox. Another area that concerns me is the lack of transparency on the casino’s licensing and ownership.

All in all, PlayZilla puts a good offer on the table. It’s got games, bonuses, 24/7 support, and a decent range of payment options that make it worth considering.

PlayZilla casino bonuses

Newly registered players can claim the welcome bonus of up to C$1,500 and 500 free spins. This is claimed across three deposits:

  • 1st deposit: 100% deposit bonus up to C$500 and 500 free spins
  • 2nd & 3rd deposit: 100% deposit bonus up to C$500

The minimum deposit amount for each bonus is C$20 and the free spins are awarded in sets of 10 every day for 50 days. There’s a 35x wagering requirement on the deposit and bonus amount, and winnings from free spins have a 40x wagering requirement. Wagering must be met within 10 days, and deposits from Neteller and Skrill aren’t accepted for this bonus.

PlayZilla casino bonus offers

Reload bonuses

PlayZilla has a Weekly Reload bonus to get 50 free spins. This bonus applies to the first deposit made every week between Sunday and Thursday, and the minimum deposit is C$30. Then there’s a Weekend Reload Bonus of up to C$1,050 and 50 free spins. This bonus applies to your first deposit made every week between Thursday and Sunday.

For these two bonuses, all free spins are credited on a popular slot chosen by the PlayZilla team, and any free spins must be used within seven days. The wagering requirements on winnings from free spins is 40x, which must be met within 10 days.

Free spins & cashback

On Sundays, you can claim up to 100 ELA Games free spins when you wager on eligible slots. PlayZilla also has weekly 8% cashback up to C$1,500, and for live casino players, there’s 25% cashback on games played in the live casino section.

Tournaments

As for tournaments, PlayZilla hosts several network tournaments, including Spinomenal’s Spinoleague with an C$18,000,000 prize pool. The casino has its own in-house tournaments as well, such as the Monthly Race and Cashcrab Monthly Race.

VIP program

PlayZilla’s VIP program has five levels. Each level comes with increased monthly withdrawal limits, and the top three levels get 5-15% cashback. There are VIP promotions, bonuses, and personalized offers on each level.

Bonus rating

85/100 Generous selection of bonuses, reloads, cashback, and tournaments
  • Good welcome bonus
  • Weekly free spins reload bonuses
  • Weekly cashback
  • 40x wagering on free spins winnings
  • Lacks a no-deposit bonus

PlayZilla’s got practically all the boxes ticked for bonuses. Its welcome bonus is a good way to start your time at the casino, and the bonus amount is decent. There are casinos out there with better-balanced bonuses, like SlotStake, which offers its new players a C$2,500 bonus claimable across three deposits, plus 100 wager-free free spins.

I liked PlayZilla’s reload bonuses. Three free spins options is great as it gives you something to look forward to each week, and it’s a nice way to keep topped up. The cashback bonuses are cool, too, especially having one just for live casino games.

The 40x wagering on free spins winnings at the casino is on the high side, and while it’s manageable in 10 days, it still means playing through any winnings 40 times. That’s not going to leave you with much real value.

PlayZilla’s also lacking a no-deposit bonus. They’re not easy to come by, but it would round off PlayZilla’s offering nicely. It’s got everything else covered, including a variety of in-house and network tournaments.

Games at PlayZilla casino

There are 4,000+ casino games available at PlayZilla, offering a game library made up of slots, instant win games, RNG table games, and live games.

With over 3,000 slots available, the variety is good, covering popular themes like coins, Ancient Egypt, sweets, mythology, animals, and Irish.

106 of those games are Megaways slots, like Wolf Power Megaways from Playson. Hold and Win games don’t have their own filter, but there are great options, too. You’ll find a section dedicated to slots with bonus buy features as well.

PlayZilla casino games library

The instant win section has 167 games, with games like Plinko, Keno, Mines, Bingo, and crash games like Aviator. You’ll also find a handful of scratch card games. The table games section is a similar size, with 161 games available. There are options for RNG blackjack, poker, roulette, baccarat, Sic Bo, and Video Poker.

In the live casino section, there are 402 games available. Players who prefer live dealer tables have access to roulette, blackjack, baccarat and dice games, poker, Sic Bo, and Andar Bahar.

PlayZilla has 15 game shows available in the live casino section. This includes games like Wonder Wheel, Top Card, and Lucky Wheelionaire. As for exclusive games, PlayZilla has a choice of 465 games. You’ll find quirky, unique slots like Joker Jam, Cash of Egypt, and Zeus Winpot.

Games rating

91/100 A games library with a touch of everything
  • 4,000+ games
  • Keno, scratch cards, and Bingo included
  • No progressive jackpots
  • Limited game shows

PlayZilla’s game library has almost every category nailed down. Scratch cards, instant win games, slots, table games, live games – it’s all here.

The only two areas that are disappointing are the lack of jackpots and the limited game show selection. The game shows are small in number, and a lot of popular game shows like Monopoly Live are missing.

Otherwise, what’s available is great. Thousands of slots, with a strong choice of themes and mechanics available. The live dealer tables are good too, and there are many of them available, so live players should be satisfied. I was equally impressed with all the smaller games, like Plinko, Keno, Mines, and the scratch cards.

If no jackpots are a deal breaker for you, you might want to try SlotStake instead. It has 13,000+ games, which include jackpots and a live games section of 2,000+ games.

Software providers at PlayZilla

PlayZilla works with 99 software providers. The list of providers mostly consists of smaller names, like Flatdog, Hold Your Hat, SpadeGaming, and OneTouch. There are some bigger names on there, though, like 3Oaks Gaming, Playson, BetSoft, and BGaming.

In terms of key providers, PlayZilla works with 1×2 Gaming, Iron Dog, and Microgaming.

List of software providers used at PlayZilla casino

There are 10 live casino providers, including Stakelogic, Amusnet, and WinFinity. PlayZilla doesn’t have any bespoke software at this time.

Software rating

74/100 99 providers, with limited key names
  • 10 live providers
  • 99 software providers
  • No Evolution software
  • Only 3 key providers

99 providers would explain why PlayZilla has such a variety of games. It’s great because it means players will have a great selection to choose from, with plenty of major categories covered comfortably.

However, although there are 99 providers, only three of them are key providers. I was hoping to find a few more available, like Pragmatic Play or NetEnt. The same goes for the live casino section. Nine live providers is incredible, but they’re all smaller names and the list doesn’t include Evolution.

As a result, the game show section didn’t impress me since those classic Evolution game shows were missing.

Payment methods accepted at PlayZilla

PlayZilla casino accepts 22 payment methods, which include a combination of cards, e-wallets, and cryptocurrencies.

Deposit methods available at PlayZilla casino

Deposits

You can use your Visa and Mastercard bank cards, and there’s also a voucher option with e-voucher. These have the same minimum deposit amount of €20. As for e-wallets, Canadians will be glad to see Interac is available, along with Neosurf, Neteller, Jetonbank, and MiFinity. The minimum deposit amount varies for these, ranging between €15 and €20.

For cryptocurrencies, it’s Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Tether, Ethereum, Litecoin, Tron, USDC, Binance, Dogecoin, Solana, and Cardano. All cryptocurrencies have the same minimum deposit amount of €20, except for Bitcoin, which starts at €45.

Withdrawals

For withdrawals, the available options are Interac, VISA, Skrill, MiFinity, and Jetonbank. Minimum withdrawal amounts range from as low as €10 with Interac, up to €20 with VISA and Skrill. All cryptocurrencies can be used for withdrawals, with a minimum withdrawal amount of €35, except for Bitcoin, which is €90.

Before making a withdrawal, you’ll need to play through your funds at least once, or else a 10% commission will be deducted. You also need to meet the minimum monthly wagering threshold of $30. Payments are processed within three days, from Monday to Friday, and you can have up to three pending withdrawals at the same time.

The daily and monthly transaction limits are determined by your VIP level. For beginners, the daily withdrawal limit is $750, while the monthly limit is $10,500. Players with the highest VIP level, Champion, have a daily limit of $2,300 and a monthly limit of $30,000.

Payments rating

71/100 Great selection of payment options, including crypto
  • 14 cryptocurrencies
  • Low minimum deposits
  • Missing key payment providers
  • Payment values given in Euros

While the available payment options are good, there are some key names I was expecting to find. Visa, Mastercard, and Interac are widely popular and are essential payment providers, but I was also looking out for PayPal, paysafecard, InstaDebit, and bank transfers. It’s why, despite having 22 payment options, PlayZilla lost a few points here.

The choice of 14 cryptocurrencies, however, is great. It’s not the best out there, since casinos like Stake accept over 20 cryptocurrencies, but Euro Palace, for instance, only accepts six payment options, and none of them are cryptocurrencies.

Otherwise, payments are good. No fees, and decent minimum deposits, with some of them as low as €10. I would have appreciated seeing the values displayed in CAD, since it would have taken away the hassle of converting.

PlayZilla safety features

PlayZilla is licensed with an Anjouan Gaming Licence, but it’s not listed on the site. Nor do they mention who operates the casino or where it is registered. The site has a high level of encryption, with 384-bit SSL using ECDSA technology.

There aren’t any references to RNGs on PlayZilla; however, the casino works with reputable software providers that will be audited by independent third parties.

The dedicated RG page has basic tips on how to gamble safely and lists GamCare, GA, and Gambling Therapy as reliable professional resources players can use.

Self-exclusion is the only tool available. This is set up by emailing customer support, who will close the account as soon as possible. There aren’t any details on how long you can be self-excluded from the account.

Safety rating

58/100 Limited responsible gambling tools, high encryption
  • Dedicated RG page
  • 384-bit SSL encryption
  • Limited RG tools
  • Negative online forum reviews
  • Doesn’t directly reference RNGs

From a safety perspective, despite having a very high level of encryption, PlayZilla’s lost quite a few points.

For starters, I’m concerned about the lack of upfront transparency around PlayZilla’s operator and its licensing. This is information that needs to be displayed clearly, for security, and for players to have the peace of mind that their casino is regulated. The casino also doesn’t reference RNGs or have good feedback in online forums either.

In terms of its RG approach, this is also limited. Self-exclusion is an essential tool, but so are limit-setting tools. Setting a limit on your gaming sessions and spending can help you way before you need to resort to self-exclusion.

Customer support at PlayZilla

You can reach out to customer support at PlayZilla by using the live chat widget or by email on [email protected]. Support is available 24/7 in both cases, with decent response times.

PlayZilla casino's contact us page

The live chat has a fast response time with agents answering within minutes, and with satisfactory responses. Email support had a response time of two hours. The agent was clear and direct, like with the live chat.

PlayZilla doesn’t have a phone number that you can use, but there’s a brief FAQs page that covers the essential questions like verification, withdrawals, currencies, and account closure.

Support & community rating

86/100 24/7 customer support that you can rely on
  • Decent email support
  • Responsive live chat
  • No phone support
  • Live chat agents needed clarification

From a support perspective, there’s not much to complain about. If you need phone support, a line isn’t available at PlayZilla, but their live chat team is highly responsive. I never waited longer than two minutes and the agents were always approachable.

There were cases where I needed to clarify my questions, or the agent had a small mix up, but nothing too serious. One agent gave me the maximum payment limits when I was asking for the minimums.

The FAQs page is handy, especially for questions around verification, as the majority of its questions focus on that. I would have liked to see a broader coverage of questions here, since it’s always useful.

The usability at PlayZilla casino

PlayZilla has a sleek blue background with classic casino imagery. The navbar and the sidebar menu are the main points of reference. From the navbar, you can jump to the game lobby, the live casino section, sportsbook, virtual sport, and promotions.

The sidebar menu has some of the same shortcuts, along with a few others like tournaments, VIP, and the live chat widget. You can also use the sticky live chat widget on the bottom right of the site.

The game filters are good, with filters for top, new, popular, and exclusive games, along with bonus buys, Megaways, and instant games. The live casino section is broken down further into game types: blackjack, roulette, baccarat, poker, and game shows.

You can also use the search bar to search for games by name, and the providers drop-down menu will let you jump to each provider’s full list of games.

There isn’t a casino app, but PlayZilla has a web app that you can install via your browser. Otherwise, the mobile browser version works great too, with full touchscreen capabilities available.

Usability rating

85/100 A fair performance on desktop and mobile
  • Mobile friendly
  • Easy navigation
  • No casino app
  • Limited game filters

A clean design and smooth navigation are almost as important as having good games and bonuses. Luckily, PlayZilla’s got them both. The design looks good and it makes navigating the casino easier, too. Getting around the casino is fine, and all the shortcuts made it easy to work out.

A few more game filters in the main game lobby would help, though. I liked that there’s a filter for instant games, as there often isn’t, but with so many slots, a few more filters to browse slots by theme would have made things easier. It’s also a cleaner way to showcase your full collection.

There isn’t a casino app, although these aren’t overly common in the market anyway. What’s good is that you can use the web app if you want more streamlined access, but when it came to mobile use, I found the casino works just as well as on desktop.
