Why you should tail the bet

San Antonio have shown resilience throughout the playoffs so far and fought back from behind twice en route to their series win over last year’s NBA champs OKC in the Western Conference Finals

It’s a vital game for the Spurs who need to make the most of their home-court advantage before they travel to New York for Game 3 and Game 4

The Spurs have the best record against the spread after a loss in the NBA this season (19-8-0), covering over 70% of the time

Spurs vs. Knicks betting predictions

It’s Game 2 of the 2026 NBA Finals on Friday night. The New York Knicks have taken a 1-0 series lead after beating the San Antonio Spurs 105-95 on the road at Frost Bank Center on Wednesday. The Spurs are the -6.5-point favorites with BetMGM, despite going down early on in the series. I’m going to back the Spurs to cover the spread heading into Game 2, as it’s a must-win game for them before they head out on the road to Madison Square Garden.

A full week’s rest advantage for the Knicks showed in Game 1. San Antonio had to grind out a seven-game series against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals, while New York coasted to a dominant 4-0 triumph over the Cleveland Cavaliers over in the East. However, the Spurs will be expected to fight back, which explains why they are the -6.5-point favorites heading into Game 2.

Jalen Brunson starred for the Knicks in Game 1, putting up 30 points, while a double-double from Karl-Anthony Towns also impressed. Victor Wembanyama recorded 26 points and 12 rebounds for the Spurs, but was unable to help them to a victory in the series opener and shot just 6 for 21 from the field.

New York was down 55-48 at half time, and had to fight back late on to secure the win. They outscored the Spurs 29-19 in the final quarter, overturning a 14-point deficit in the second half to take charge of this year’s finals. That means the Knicks have now extended their unbeaten playoff run to 12 games, giving them plenty of momentum heading into Game 2.

Despite the Knicks having the upper hand in Game 1, the Spurs have proven they won’t roll over easily in the playoffs thus far. They had to dig deep against the Thunder in the Western Conference Finals, and I’m expecting them to do the same in Game 2 and tie things up. They’ve got a young team who will be hungry for revenge on Friday.

Team news

Here’s what you should know going into Game 2:

Basketball Betting Tip 04

San Antonio Spurs team news

De’Aaron Fox’s ankle injury has evidently been hindering him throughout the playoffs. He scored just seven points, converting only three of his 13 field goal attempts, in the Game 1 loss. They’ll need rookie guard Dylan Harper to step up once again and support the offense. The Spurs are not expected to have any injury concerns, however, heading into the pivotal Game 2 matchup.

Basketball Betting Tip 04

New York Nicks team news

Mitchell Robinson was an injury doubt for Game 1, but managed to play just over 13 minutes. He should be good to go once again in this one and will provide valuable rest time for Towns. No other problems for the Knicks to worry about so they should be at full strength.

Spurs vs. Knicks lineups

Despite Fox’s poor form, he should continue to be in the starting five. Here’s how we expect San Antonio to lineup:

De’Aaron Fox – Steph Castle – Devin Vassell – Julian Champagine – Victor Wembanyama

The Knicks aren’t expected to have any injury problems heading into Friday night’s game, so will likely remain unchanged.

Jalen Brunson – Mikal Bridges – OG Anunoby – Josh Hart – Karl-Anthony Towns
