What is Novig and how does it work?

Novig is a sweepstakes sports prediction market app and website. Instead of traditional betting, where you place wagers against the sportsbook, Novig lets users trade bets with one another.

You can “take” an order at odds someone else has already posted or “make” an order and request your own odds.

Some predictions come in the form of simple Yes/No answers, like “Will Luka Doncic win MVP”, while others have a more traditional sportsbook format with moneylines, spreads, and totals. You’ll also see American odds instead of the $0.01–$0.99 contract range typically used by prediction apps.

Novig operates on a sweepstakes model. That means that you’re not trading with real money directly. Instead, you switch between Novig Coins and Novig Cash. Only the latter is redeemable for cash prizes once you meet the criteria.

And yes, the platform truly has “no vig”, meaning you don’t have to pay any fees on orders or potential profits.

Novig app review

The Novig app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, where it boasts ratings of 4.8 and 3.8, respectively.

The app seems well-designed and easy to use from the UX standpoint. The sports menu is clean, markets within each event are neatly laid out through multiple categories, the order slip is beginner-friendly with clear explanations of order types, and the homepage features multiple parlay and futures suggestions.

You get the same welcome offer and can claim a range of other bonuses like friend referrals, daily logins, parlay insurance, and more.

Time2play Expert Analysis

Mobile rating: 90/100

Novig is available on both desktop and mobile. This may not seem like a particular advantage, but it actually is, considering many prediction market platforms are still mobile-only.

That said, some users have had trouble with the app crashing and not letting them log in when they switch devices, especially on Android. While I didn’t experience any bugs during testing, the number of reported issues on Google Play suggests the app might not work smoothly for everyone, which is why I “only” gave it 90/100.

Otherwise, it’s a well-tuned product. The layout is simple, with an easy-to-read sports menu and good market categorization. Some pre-made suggestions lie at the top, letting you easily complete parlays and futures trades without browsing.

I also like the visual cues, specifically how the highlights turn from yellow to blue when you switch currencies, so you’re never confused as to whether you’re placing orders with Novig Coins or Novig Cash.

Bonuses are fairly generous, and 5 Novig Cash is above the market average for sweepstakes platforms (most offer 2 or 2.5 of their redeemable currency). Plus, there are plenty of reward incentives for placing specific orders, like how you get 15 Novig Cash for placing a total of 10 straight orders on markets from the Special category.

The Novig app doesn’t have any unique features and bonuses compared to the website, unlike Kalshi and its Bug Bounty bonus.

Different prediction markets available at Novig

Unlike some real-money prediction apps, Novig leans heavily into sports predictions, with no politics, crypto, finance, or culture markets.

There are eight main sports to choose from, including football, basketball, baseball, hockey, golf, tennis, UFC, and soccer, but when you click on the Entertainment section, you may reveal some currently trending events from other sports, like Formula 1, NASCAR, and chess.

Market depth is pretty good, especially for popular sports, and goes way beyond the simple Yes/No contracts on game or match winners.

Additionally, suggested parlays and futures are available, too. When your favorite teams and players are included in this section, you can add them to the slip with a single tap. Keep in mind that the options that are prominently displayed are likely to draw in more orders and maintain sufficient liquidity. You can also benefit from parlay and SGP boosts on specific competitions.

Market variety rating: 60/100

The variety of sports markets at Novig is very good, but I had to take points off because it doesn’t include other popular options like politics or crypto, like Kalshi or Polymarket.

If you prefer sports predictions anyway (and don’t mind the sweepstakes model), Novig is the app you’ll likely be happy with.

There’s a notable absence of niche sports like table tennis or snooker, but the main ones like basketball and baseball are very well covered, featuring a ton of props and parlay options. For instance, a typical NBA game will have 100+ options beyond the moneyline/spread/totals, with some unique markets like “first basket” that you may not see elsewhere.

How to trade on Novig

Novig looks like a sportsbook at the surface level, even though it works differently. The odds are set by users, not the bookmaker. You can take orders by accepting the odds another user has posted, or make your own and wait for someone to bite.

Limits are guided by liquidity. In simple terms, there needs to be enough activity for an order to go through. For example, if only 500 Novig Cash has been traded on the Atlanta Hawks beating the Detroit Pistons, that’s the maximum you can bet. If there’s no activity at all, you can still place an order, but there’s no guarantee anyone will take it.

Unlike many real-money prediction apps that use percentages and $0–$1 ranges to express contract value, Novig uses traditional sportsbook odds in the American +/- format (you can change it to decimal or percentage in account settings). So, if you see +138 and put down 100 Novig Coins, you’ll earn 138 Novig Coins in profit if your prediction is correct.

Unfortunately, Novig doesn’t let you sell your position after it’s matched. Once your order is locked in, you’ll need to wait for the final result.

KYC verification

Know Your Customer (KYC) verification is required before you can place any trades on Novig. This is a standard safety step used to protect users and block unauthorized access.

During sign-up, you’ll need to enter your home address, date of birth, and the last four digits of your Social Security number. To complete the process, you’ll also be asked to upload a photo of a valid government-issued ID before making any purchases or redemptions.

Bear in mind that you can only join from one of 36 Novig legal states, and you have to be at least 21 years old.

Quick orders vs. limit orders

Quick orders are the simplest option at Novig. You just accept the odds that are already available and place your trade instantly with no waiting.

The alternative to this is the limit order. If you want more control, you can create your own order by setting the odds you’re willing to take. Your offer will then appear on the market, and another user can choose to accept it.

To avoid confusion, Novig does have limit-order functionality, but it’s built into the “Make” order flow. However, keep in mind that limit orders aren’t guaranteed. If no one agrees with your odds, it may never be matched.

Time2play Expert Analysis

Novig is easy to pick up, especially if you’re coming from traditional sportsbooks. I personally needed a bit of time to get used to percentages and $0–$1 pricing ranges, so the fact that Novig sticks to familiar American odds makes the transition much smoother for beginners.

The order slip is just as straightforward. You’ll see multiple odds available on each side of a market, along with the amount currently traded at each price. Order types are clearly explained, and the custom duration feature is a nice touch, letting you set the availability period for your “Make” order.

Novig payment methods

As a sweepstakes platform, Novig doesn’t require any purchase to get started. You can earn Novig Coins and Novig Cash through the welcome offer, daily logins, AMOE requests, and other free promotions.

If you choose to buy in, there are two options:

You can’t enter a custom amount but merely select from preset packages ranging from $5 to $5,000 ($5.15 to $5,150 on Standard). You’re technically purchasing Novig Coins, while Novig Cash is included as a bonus. In most cases, the amount of Novig Cash matches the dollar amount you spend.

To redeem a cash prize, you’ll need to play through your Novig Cash once, with a minimum redemption of $20. Redemptions are available via cards, bank transfers, or Venmo. Some withdrawals are instant, but if your bank doesn’t support real-time payments, it may take up to three business days through standard ACH.

Time2play Expert Analysis

Payments rating: 80/100

Novig is not as crypto-friendly as many other prediction market apps, but it still offers a sufficient number of banking methods, including cards, mobile wallets, and ACH transfers.

There are no purchase or redemption fees, although if you’re buying one of the Standard packages with cards, you’re essentially paying 3% more compared to the Discount bank transfer options.

Package pricing ranges widely, letting you choose from entry-level $5 options to massive $5,000 bundles. I also appreciate that redemptions start pretty low at $20, considering that many sweepstakes platforms impose a $100 minimum.

Novig fees and payouts

Novig removes fees from the equation entirely. The name itself (No-Vig) signals that there’s no built-in house edge baked into the odds as you’d find at traditional sportsbooks.

While many real-money prediction markets also avoid vig, they usually charge commission fees on trades. Novig skips that, too. There are no fees for making or taking orders, so your full stake and potential profit stay intact.

Time2play Expert Analysis

Fees rating: 100/100

No vig, no fees! It’s that simple. You may be wondering how Novig makes money with a commissionless structure, though.

The answer is that everyday users don’t pay fees, but Novig charges institutional market makers and liquidity providers to operate on the platform. This helps keep markets active while allowing retail users to trade without added costs.

It’s also important to remember the sweepstakes model. When you purchase a package, you’re buying Novig Coins, while Novig Cash is included as a bonus. However, Novig Cash must be played through at least once before it becomes redeemable. In practice, this means it doesn’t function exactly like cash at a 1:1 value from the start, since you need to use it in the markets before you can claim any winnings.

Is Novig safe?

Novig is generally considered to be a safe platform. First, it’s important to understand that it doesn’t require a traditional gambling license or regulatory approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). This is because it uses a sweepstakes structure, which is legally distinct and allows it to operate across many US states without standard licenses.

Of course, this doesn’t mean security isn’t on par with that of licensed platforms. SSL encryption protects your data and transactions, and users receive a recovery code at sign-up as a 2FA backup to regain access to their account.

Novig also follows strict Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) protocols, requiring all users to verify their identity before trading or redeeming prizes.

When it comes to responsible gameplay, users can access a range of tools under Account > Gameplay Limits to set time-outs, apply purchase caps, limit Novig Cash trading activity, or request permanent account closure.

Time2play Expert Analysis

Safety rating: 90/100

Novig checks all the key safety boxes, including secure infrastructure, strong identity verification, and responsible gameplay tools.

No one can get in and start trading without confirming their identity, and features like recovery codes ensure your account stays accessible to you and you alone.

RG tools let you curb your trading activity in every way possible, from daily, weekly, and monthly purchase and trade limits to shorter time-outs and complete self-exclusion. You can even reach the addiction hotline at Gaming Addicts Anonymous in just two taps.
