Le Prechaun is an Irish-themed cluster pays slot and the twelfth installment in Hacksaw’s Le series, which follows the mischievous raccoon Smokey. Released in July 2026, the medium-volatility game offers 3 free spin rounds and has an above-average RTP of 96.28%.

The action unfolds on a familiar 6×5 grid with Super Cascades and Golden Squares, though this iteration also expands the setup with Position Multipliers. In this Le Prechaun slot review, I’ll break down these features in more detail and share my thoughts on this sequel.

Le Prechaun slot review summary

As its name suggests, Le Prechaun places the misbehaving Smokey the Raccoon in an Irish folklore-inspired setting. The leprechaun theme is familiar, but Hacksaw Gaming still brings the setting to life with vibrant colors and polished animations.

Gameplay-wise, Le Prechaun keeps most of the features the series is known for. Clusters still build Golden Squares, and Golden Squares still wait for a Rainbow or an Epic Rainbow symbol before revealing Coins with values of 0.2x–500x. That said, Hacksaw has also introduced Position Multipliers, which add another layer of suspense to these well-known sequences.

The game’s RTP is in line with most other online slots. Its 15,000x maximum win is considerably higher than Le Sortudo’s 2,500x but lower than Le Cowboy’s 25,000x. The 15,000x cap applies in every game mode, including the 3 free spins rounds.

Pros

  • 3 free spins bonus modes

  • New Bag of Gold collectors

  • Position Multipliers of up to 100x

Cons

  • Overused Irish/shamrock theme

  • Non-purchasable Hidden Epic Bonus

  • Expensive RainbowRide Epic Drop FeatureSpins

Le Prechaun comprehensive review

I spun these shamrock-themed reels at different stakes across multiple sessions. In this comprehensive review, I examine the game’s math model and variance, break down its features, and explore the paytable in detail.

RTP and volatility

The default Le Prechaun slot RTP sits at 96.28%, which is slightly above the industry average, though Hacksaw Gaming also offers versions at 94.29%, 92.28%, and 86.31%.

Hacksaw Gaming rates the game’s volatility at 3/5, or medium.

Time2play Expert Analysis With a 96.28% RTP, Le Prechaun is on par with Le Cowboy, the sixth installment in one of the studio’s most popular franchises. But with 3 other available RTP configurations on the market, and all 4 being selectable by operators, it’s crucial to check the version before playing.

In my sessions, the game felt consistent with the provider’s medium-volatility rating. I started with a 50-spin session at $0.40 and worked my way up to $1, $3, and finally $5 per spin, and the number of both smaller and larger hits felt pretty equal across the board.

Bonus features

Besides cluster pays, Le Prechaun features new Position Multipliers, the usual Super Cascades and Golden Squares, and 3 free spins rounds that build on top of each other.

Position Multipliers

When a Wild is part of a winning 5+ symbol cluster, the position behind it is highlighted green and turns into a 2x Position Multiplier. If a cascade continues and a new win affects that square, the multiplier is applied to the new win. Every additional Wild in the same position also doubles the value of the multiplier, which can go up to 100x.

Super Cascades

Unlike a regular cascade, a Super Cascade removes all matching symbols, even those outside the winning cluster. New symbols then drop down into the empty squares, and you get another shot at forming a win. This continues until no more 5+ symbol clusters can be formed.

Golden Squares

When a winning combination forms, the positions behind the winning symbols become Golden Squares. A Rainbow activates the existing Golden Squares, while an Epic Rainbow activates all 30 grid positions to reveal the following special symbols:

  • Bronze Coins worth either 0.2x, 0.4x, 1x, 2x, 3x, or 4x your stake
  • Silver Coins worth either 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, or 10x your stake
  • Gold Coins worth either 20x, 30x, 40x, or 50x your stake
  • Diamond Coins worth either 100x, 150x, 250x, or 500x your stake
  • Green Clovers, which multiply only adjacent Coins, Pots of Gold, and Bags of Gold by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, or 20x
  • Gold Clovers, which multiply all Coins, Pots of Gold, and Bags of Gold on the grid by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, or 20x
  • Bags of Gold, which collect Coins and already activated Bags of Gold or Pots of Gold in a 3×3 square before the value is multiplied by a Position Multiplier on the same square
  • Pots of Gold, which collect all Coins, Bags of Gold, and Pots of Gold on the grid, and whose value is also multiplied by a Position Multiplier if there is one in the same position

Bonus 1: Arc Adventure

Land 3 FS scatters to trigger Arc Adventure, which starts with 10 free spins. This round keeps the base game’s mechanics but also makes all Golden Squares remain on the grid until a Rainbow or an Epic Rainbow activates them. The Position Multipliers also become sticky.

A progressive Lucky Charm Bar with 3 levels also appears next to the reels. Every scatter you land moves the bar by one space, and every fifth scatter upgrades the level, which unlocks the following rewards:

  • Level 1: 5 free spins + 2 Position Multipliers are added to the reels
  • Level 2: 5 free spins + 3 extra Position Multipliers are added
  • Level 3: 5 free spins + a guaranteed Rainbow on every following spin

Bonus 2: Clover the Top

Land 4 FS scatters to trigger Clover the Top, which starts with 10 free spins and builds on Arc Adventure’s mechanics, though the Golden Squares remain on the grid here even after a Rainbow activates them. However, an Epic Rainbow only keeps Golden Squares that were already on the reels.

Bonus 3: Shamrock ‘N’ Roll

Land 5 FS scatters to trigger Shamrock ’N’ Roll, the Hidden Epic Bonus, which starts with 10 free spins and goes a step further than Clover the Top. While it reuses the mechanics of the previous bonus, it also removes Coin values of 0.2x and 0.4x from play and makes the Lucky Charm Bar start at Level 3.

Bonus buys and FeatureSpins

Le Prechaun’s purchase menu offers 5 options:

  • BonusHunt FeatureSpins (3x stake): Purchased spins have a 5x higher chance of triggering any of the 3 bonus rounds.
  • RainbowRide FeatureSpins (75x stake): Each spin will land at least 1 Rainbow or Epic Rainbow symbol, and Coins worth 0.2x and 0.4x the stake are removed from play.
  • RainbowRide Epic Drop FeatureSpins (500x stake): All future spins are guaranteed to have an Epic Rainbow symbol, and Coin values start at 1x.
  • Arc Adventure (60x stake): Gives you direct access to the first of the 3 bonus modes with 10 initial free spins.
  • Clover the Top (250x stake): Takes you straight into the upgraded bonus round with 10 free spins to start with.

As with most Hacksaw Gaming releases, especially the ones in the Le slot series, the Hidden Epic Bonus (Shamrock ‘N’ Roll) can’t be purchased.

Time2play Expert Analysis Le Prechaun may not reinvent the wheel, but it certainly improves the usual Le slot setup. The new Position Multipliers add an exciting layer to the 6×5 grid in the base game, boost special symbols within Golden Squares, and really start shining in bonus games, where they last until the round ends.

Even Arc Adventure can dish out some pretty decent wins, especially if you land a few extra FS scatters and upgrade the Lucky Charm Bar. In one session, I upgraded the bar and a 15-spin sequence at a $0.40 stake returned $65.44. And while I never got into Clover the Top by myself, I was lucky enough to see Shamrock ‘N’ Roll in action, which turns everything up to 11 and is the crown jewel here.

Symbols and paytable

Like most slots in this iconic series, Le Prechaun relies on 10 regular paying symbols: 5 card ranks and 5 Irish-themed icons. The card-rank symbols (10, J, Q, K, and A) form the lower-paying group and all use the same paytable:

  • 5-symbol cluster: 0.2x
  • 6- and 7-symbol clusters: 0.4x
  • 8- and 9-symbol clusters: 0.6x
  • 10- and 11-symbol clusters: 2x
  • 12- and 13-symbol clusters: 10x
  • Clusters with 14+ symbols: 50x

The Wild, represented by a big gold W, substitutes for all regular paying symbols. Meanwhile, FS scatters, Rainbow, and Epic Rainbow symbols can’t land at the same time.

Le Prechaun mobile gameplay
Time2play Expert Analysis The lower end of the paytable in Le Prechaun is quite thin, and unfortunately, that’s what most of my hits looked like. Simply put, unless you’re forming clusters with 10+ symbols, which won’t happen too often, these wins are barely worth mentioning.

But get a nice cascade going, and you can more than make up for multiple rounds of dead spins and low regular symbol payouts. And if you land a few Wilds and get some Position Multipliers along Golden Squares, you’re looking at some hefty payouts, even without bonus rounds.

Expert verdict

Le Prechaun may have gone for a boring theme, but Hacksaw Gaming has still managed to make a visually stunning release. A similar thing applies to its mechanics, as the game takes the proven-to-work formula of its predecessors, adds a single feature and 1 new symbol, tweaks the free spins modes, and ends up being a mechanically sound addition to the Le slot series.

There are drawbacks, though. The 15,000x max win is average at best, and the $50 max stake won’t suit any high rollers either. Overall, I consider it one of the stronger installments in the series for casual players and long-term Le fans who prefer medium volatility and layered free spins.
