White Orchid is a 2010 IGT slot with 5 reels, 4 rows, 40 paylines, and a tropical theme built around orchids, animals, and characters. You can also switch on MultiWay mode, which changes the game from fixed paylines to 1,024 ways to win.

In this White Orchid slot review, I’ll cover the RTP, bet range, Free Spins, symbols, MultiWay mode, and whether this older IGT slot is still worth playing.

White Orchid comprehensive review

For this White Orchid slot review, I’ll go through the 40-payline setup, the 1,024 ways MultiWay option, the payouts, and the main Free Spins feature. I’ll also cover the Wild, stacked Scatters, retriggers, mobile play, and how to play this classic IGT slot.

RTP and volatility

White Orchid has an RTP of 95.03% and medium volatility. The game uses 5 reels, 4 rows, and 40 paylines, with an optional MultiWay mode.

Time2play Expert Analysis

White Orchid is very close to Cleopatra with RTP. Cleopatra is around 95.02%, while White Orchid is 95.03%. That 0.01% gap is tiny, so I wouldn’t pick White Orchid for that reason alone.

The better comparison is how each game spreads the bet. Cleopatra uses 20 paylines and puts more focus on the Free Spins multiplier. White Orchid starts with 40 paylines, then gives me the 1,024 ways option if I want more chances to connect symbols on each spin.

I’d still check the paytable before playing, because some casinos can run lower RTP versions. If White Orchid shows 95.03%, I’m fine with that return for an older IGT slot. Medium volatility also feels about right here, since most of the value is from regular wins, MultiWay play, and Free Spins anyway.

Bonus features

White Orchid has Wilds, Scatters, Free Spins, retriggers, enhanced bonus reels, and a MultiWay option.

The White Orchid logo is the Wild symbol. It can appear on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5, and substitutes for regular paying symbols. It can’t replace the Scatter, which is used to trigger the Free Spins round.

The orchid Scatter appears on reel 3. Landing 2, 3, or 4 stacked Scatters on that reel starts the bonus round. Two Scatters award 10 Free Spins, 3 Scatters award 15 Free Spins, and 4 Scatters award 20 Free Spins.

Free Spins use enhanced reels, which gives the bonus round a different setup from the base game. The round can also retrigger if more stacked Scatters land on reel 3 during the feature. Most versions of this slot allow up to 130 Free Spins in total.

The MultiWay option is available from the game controls. Standard play uses 40 paylines, and MultiWay changes the game to 1,024 ways to win. Activating MultiWay also raises the active stake, so the bet range changes from $0.40-$800 in standard mode to $0.80-$1,600 with MultiWay active.

Time2play Expert Analysis

White Orchid has a simple feature set, which works in its favor. After a few spins, I knew what I needed: Wilds on reels 2 to 5, stacked Scatters on reel 3, and enough retriggers in Free Spins to make the round feel worth waiting for.

MultiWay is the one setting I’d check before raising the stake. The 40-payline mode starts at $0.40, so it’s easier to test the game there. Turn on 1,024 ways and you get more chances to connect symbols, although the minimum spin becomes $0.80. That jump is small, but it changes the cost of every spin, so I wouldn’t switch modes without looking at the bet display first.

The Free Spins round is easy to understand, maybe a little too easy at times. I liked knowing exactly what had to land, although reel 3 can make the whole game feel slow when the Scatters stay away. Ten Free Spins can disappear fast, so the round feels much better when it retriggers.

Symbols and paytable

White Orchid pays from left to right when matching symbols land on active paylines in standard mode. With MultiWay active, matching symbols can pay across adjacent reels through the 1,024 ways setup. The paytable changes with your total bet, so the same symbol combination pays more when the stake goes up.

The lower-paying symbols are the card royals: J, Q, K, and A. J and Q are the smallest regular symbols, followed by K and A. The higher-paying base-game symbols are the frog, butterfly, jaguar, man, and woman. The woman is the highest-paying regular symbol.

The White Orchid logo is the Wild. It can appear on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5, and substitutes for regular paying symbols. The orchid flower is the Scatter. It appears on reel 3 and triggers Free Spins when 2, 3, or 4 Scatters land stacked on that reel.

During Free Spins, White Orchid uses bonus-rich reels with higher-value symbols. The bonus round can bring in symbols such as a hawk, hummingbird, and fish, along with the same Free Spins trigger from the stacked orchid Scatters.

Here’s how the regular symbol paytable works using a $1 total bet as examples:

Symbol5 symbols at $14 symbols at $13 symbols at $1
Woman$62.50$10$1.50
Man$25$6.25$1.25
Jaguar$12.50$5$0.90
Butterfly$6.25$1.25$0.60
Frog$6.25$1.25$0.60
A/K$3.70$0.90$0.18
Q/J$1.80$0.60$0.12

Time2play Expert Analysis

The paytable is simple enough, but I wouldn’t spend much time on the card symbols. J, Q, K, and A mostly bring smaller wins. The jaguar, man, and woman symbols are the better ones, with the woman at the top of the regular paytable.

The difference between low and high stakes is very easy to see here. Five woman symbols pay $62.50 from a $1 total bet, and $6,250 from a $100 total bet. So, same hit, completely different result. That’s why I believe it’s important to always check the paytable before raising the bet, especially with MultiWay active.

Frog and butterfly wins are fine, jaguar wins are better, and the two character symbols pay the most among the regular symbols. The Wild helps most on reels 2 to 5, especially with MultiWay active, since one Wild can connect more winning combinations across the reels.

How to play the White Orchid slot

Open White Orchid and check the paytable before you start. Look at the RTP version, stake range, Wild rules, Scatter rules, Free Spins awards, and if the slot is set to standard paylines or MultiWay play.

Choose your play mode. Standard mode uses 40 paylines, with total bets from $0.40 to $800. MultiWay mode opens 1,024 ways to win and raises the active stake range to up to $1,600.

Set your total bet with the stake controls. In standard mode, the bet is split across 40 paylines, so a $1 total bet works out to $0.025 per line. A $100 total bet works out to $2.50 per line.

Press the spin button to play one round. In standard mode, wins land on active paylines from left to right. In MultiWay mode, matching symbols pay across adjacent reels through the 1,024 ways setup.

Use autoplay only after checking your total bet and play mode. The cost per spin changes when MultiWay is active, so make sure the stake shown on screen matches what you actually want to spend for this slot.

On mobile, use the same basic controls: paytable, stake, spin, autoplay, sound, and game settings. The layout may shift to fit the screen, while the gameplay rules stay the same.

Expert verdict

White Orchid feels cozy in a way I don’t see much in newer slots. The theme is old IGT through and through: orchids, animals, character symbols, card royals, soft colors, and that old-school casino-machine feel I personally like so much. It’s pretty, but very much from its time. I see it as a slot made to be played slowly.

If I had to play it again for the first time, I’d probably start on 40 paylines. It gave me enough time to understand the game before touching MultiWay. Once I switched it on, the spins did feel less dead, mostly because there were more ways for symbols to connect. So I liked the MultiWay, I just wouldn’t leave it on blindly.

I’d look for White Orchid for a slower IGT session, medium volatility, and that nice old-school vibe. It has aged, sure, but the MultiWay option gives it a reason to still be around. Not my first pick to be honest, but I can see why someone who likes older IGT games would still give it time.
