We have ordered our list of top online craps casinos specifically by their craps offerings. Here at Time2play, we don’t just copy and paste the same top list on every page, we make sure that each ranking we put down on a page is tailored to the subject at hand.
If you’re still unsure which one to choose and want to play craps with free coins first you can also check out our list of the best sweeps cash casinos.
Basic rules — How to play craps online
While all the boxes, lines, and numbers on the craps table might look complicated at first glance, it’s not as weird as it looks. Unlike games such as poker and blackjack, you don’t need any sort of complex strategy to get the best chances of winning.
In essence, all you bet on is what’s going to come up on the dice. Craps has a few different bets with different house edges, and there’s nothing wrong with sticking to the ones you’re most likely to win.
The main bet is the pass line bet, you roll two dice, and any number between 2 and 12 can come up. 7 and 11 are instant wins that double your money, while 2, 3, and 12 are instant losses. Any other number in pass line bets gets set as a ‘point’, and you keep rolling the dice until you roll that same number again, in which case you win, or unless you ‘seven out’ by rolling a seven, in which case you lose.
We have a dedicated page that covers how to play craps in more detail, but those are the rough basics.
Playing craps for free vs playing craps for real money
When it comes to playing craps for free vs. real money, the situation is pretty much the same as for any other casino game. Although playing craps for real money is usually what most casino players are after, there are several advantages to playing craps for free, especially if you’re a newbie.
When you play any game for free, you are allowing yourself to learn the ropes of the game in a risk-free environment— this means that you can practice free online craps as often as you like without paying the price for it.
Of course, once you’re familiar with everything, you can easily transition into playing craps for real money, which means you’ll have access to more games than when you’re playing for free. Of course, research your payment methods too if you’re looking to play for real — say you want to play at a casino that takes Skrill, make sure it’s available before you sign up.

Online craps games — different variants
Since craps is less popular than blackjack or roulette, many casinos only offer one game variation. However, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t more variations — there are plenty of ways to play craps games online.
Let’s take a closer look at what’s out there.

Open craps
In open craps, bets are made against the person taking the bets. Open craps are usually illegal because someone bankrolls the game, and players meet at an agreed-upon location to play. Many times, the stakes go over the house limit found in casinos. Bets are also made in cash. The table has a lose line, a win line, and the box numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10. Bets on the point can be made as side bets, which means that players can play without a house edge. However, players can’t make all the bets they want without another player taking them. Players can also place bets with the person taking their bets. This is the way the bet taker makes money — by charging a percentage of the cash wagered (typically 5%).

High point craps
Higher point craps work with one change to the traditional craps rules— if the numbers 2 or 3 are rolled on the come-out roll, they are disregarded. However, if you roll the numbers 11 or 12, you win the game. Although you can find this variation both online and in offline casinos, it is far rarer to find it than the traditional one. That said, with a house edge of 2.35%, this variant of online casino craps is not very lucrative.

New York craps
This variant is quite different from the others, and you need a different table to play it. The name is somewhat ironic given that this variant was born in Yugoslavia and is loved by people in the UK. The difference in this variant is that ‘come’ and ‘don’t come’ bets are not allowed. Players directly bet on the numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. If the number you choose is rolled, you win, if you don’t, you lose. The table is different for this variant because it is a double-end-dealer table which means that there are two dealers at the two ends of it, a stickman and a lookman. The layout of the table itself is also different as the bets differ. The commission on this variant is 5%.

Simplified craps
A game for craps beginners, the crap rules here are different, and the points aspect is practically removed. You can win simplified craps by rolling 2, 3, 4, 10, 11, or 12, however, if you roll 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9, you lose. The house edge of this variant is 2.8%.

Die Rich craps
This variant has many special features— the table itself has a blackjack-esque layout, and only one die is used. Die Rich craps has fewer betting options than traditional craps, which makes it the perfect fit for beginners. In die rich craps, 6’s are instant wins while 1’s crap you out. If a player rolls a 2, 3, 4, or 5, a point will be established, and the game will continue as it would in traditional craps. If 1 of the point numbers come up, the player throws again, and if the same number comes up again, that player wins. The player can throw 3 times, and if the point number does not come out, they will lose their bet. The same thing takes place if a 1 comes up before the player manages to get a point number. Player bets are considered to be losing ones if they throw 4 rolls (the come-out roll included), and their bet is yet to be settled. The probability of winning on the come-out roll is 0.166667 while winning on the second and third rolls is 0.111111 and 0.074074, respectively. The probability of winning on the fourth roll is 0.049383.

Diceless craps
Diceless craps does what it says on the tin and includes 2 shoes with 44 decks of only ace through 6 cards. 1 card from each deck is dealt, and these cards stand in for the dice roll. Casinos don’t really like this variant as players can easily card count. Sometimes, when this game is included at a casino, only 50% of the decks are dealt to protect the house.
Which is the best for you?
As any seasoned player will tell you, you should always pick a casino game and variant that suits the level you’re at in your casino journey. What kind of experience you’re after also defines which variant you choose. If you’re new to playing online craps, the simplified version might be fore you. So far, choices are limited and there’s only one version of craps at US online casinos. As more variants become available we’ll update this section. Still, in most cases, the best online craps game, or at least, the most player-friendly, will be whichever one has the lowest house edge.
Online craps casino bonuses
It’s hard enough to find a craps game at US casinos, let alone a craps bonus that links directly to the game. However, that doesn’t mean that there are no craps-enabled bonuses.
So, what kinds of casino bonuses can you expect when it comes to online craps? Well, something that you can almost certainly use is the general casino welcome bonus that usually works on any game. Many legal US casinos, like NJ, PA, MI or WV online casinos, usually offer either deposit matches and/or a no deposit bonus.
Deposit matches do what they say on the tin and match what you deposit at a rate of 100% (depending on how much you deposit). On the other hand, no deposit bonuses are much smaller because players don’t have to deposit anything to receive them. The best casino welcome bonuses can easily hit $1,000 for deposit matches and $20+ for no-deposit bonuses.
All that said, there is a possibility that you won’t be able to put any of your welcome bonus money towards playing online craps in New Jersey anyway, as many times, card and table games online don’t fulfil the wagering requirements set by casinos. This is because they have a much lower house edge than things like slots.
What to look for in a craps bonus:
- The possibility of using your welcome bonus to play
- Low wagering requirements
- A decent expiration date for your bonus — two weeks is the standard
Tips on how to win at craps
There are several tips and tricks that you can use when playing craps. Here we’ll be covering a few of these tricks designed to give you an edge when playing craps.

Always take time to learn the rules
When you’re eager to get started, it’s easy to disregard how important it is to take time to learn rules correctly, but the fact is you can’t expect to play, enjoy, and win any craps real money if you don’t really know what you’re doing. That time you couldn’t be bothered to spend will end up costing you more in the long run.

Play the free game
They don’t say practice makes perfect for nothing. The only way that you can be a craps online expert is if you play the game over and over again, and the best way to do that is risk-free, where you don’t need to drop a dime. Take advantage of learning from your mistakes in a safe environment. You can’t talk the talk without doing the walk.

Stick to bets that have a better chance of return
If you’re after bets on the craps table that have a reasonable house edge and will increase your chances of getting something back, safe bets are often considered to be a pass line bet backed by free odds and a come line bets backed by a free odds bet.

Set a loss limit
When you’re an advanced craps player, it’s easy to get lost in the moment, especially if you’re several rolls of the dice in. This is why you always should set a loss limit to how much you’re willing to lose. You should never ever gamble more money than you have previously set out for this purpose. If you find yourself struggling with this, please visit our responsible gambling page for more info.
How to choose craps casinos
There’s a lot to think about when you’re deciding where to play online craps for real money. Here, we take a look at the most important criteria that you should look at when choosing which craps online casino to play at.
Games
Craps isn’t the most common of casino games, so the amount of craps games (if any) that a casino offers plays an important part. Always take a look at the quality of what is provided and whether or not the casino offers craps variants. In the US market, any online casino with a craps game in its arsenal is already a gem because there are very few casinos that carry the game. Variants are practically nowhere at present, so the first casino to offer them would skyrocket to the top of our list. Other dice games like sic bo online are also quite rare, so casinos get a bonus point for offering those.
Best casino bonuses
When it comes to craps bonuses, no casinos offer the kind of game-specific bonuses that you can find for online blackjack or online slots. Top ratings would go to those operators that provide bonuses specifically for casino craps, but since those are practically non-existent, it’s worth looking at casinos that allow you to use your welcome bonus on playing craps.
Software
We love a good software provider, top ratings go to casinos featuring NetEnt and Playtech and aren’t afraid to showcase them. Of course, most craps games are provided by Evolution software which also have have some amazing live casino games.
App/mobile Interface
There’s no point in having a game on a mobile device that glitches or is of bad quality. Many mobile casinos don’t have the number of games that exist on desktop (often, up to 30% of games are absent, though the odd mobile casino USA does deliver a mobile-first package). However, happily, craps online were available on all of the casinos we list.
Safety
A reputable casino is usually a safe online casino. Every online craps real money casino we recommend here is legal and licensed, and is listed on publicly-accessible sites by state government boards like the NJDGE. To make sure a casino is safe look for responsible online gambling site tools, detailed help pages, and websites with SSL encryption. Plus points to those organizations that have their own responsible gambling platforms.
Payments
One of the most important things in casinos’ weird and wonderful world is what payment options you have access to. Top makes should go to casinos that have a wide variety of reputable payment options. In New Jersey, a top-tier casino would have around 15+ payment options, for example. Of course, it’s not just the amount of payment options, but it’s also the quality. Casinos that accept PayPal and Play + (which was designed especially for casinos), almost guarantee you’re onto a winner.
Overall offering
Overall player experience is essential, so you need to look beyond whether or not a casino offers craps. Make sure to take a look at everything from customer support options to how easily you can find things. Visit our casino reviews page to take a closer look at what we have been placing emphasis on and why.
US online craps — is it safe and legal?
It is 100% safe and legal to play craps at the right casinos but to do that, you need to make sure that you’re not giving your money to those offshore casinos that were abundant in the time when online casinos were illegal in all of the US.
The issue is that even if you google “US online craps” now, you’re still bound to find a few of these old-timers lurking in the shadows and scaling Google rankings, which is why we always suggest you not only stick to playing at casinos which are legal in your state but that you also get your info from a reputable source.
Here at Time2play we only review legal casinos licensed and regulated by the state they operate in because licensed sites are regularly tested for fairness and provide reputable software and payment options that aren’t dubious. These are the casinos that you are able to hold accountable legally – who wouldn’t want that option?

FAQs
Where can I play craps online for real money?
DraftKings casino is our recommendation for craps online. There are several craps casinos in the US, even though it is not the most popular online casino game. Most offer just a single virtual craps game, while DraftKings boasts three, including a bespoke DraftKings-branded version. While we expect the market to grow and change in future, right now we think it’s got the best online craps for real money.
Can I play online craps for free?
Yes you absolutely can. Many online casinos offer players the opportunity to play free versions of their craps games before they get stuck in and play craps for real money. This is an excellent way of testing things out without having to part with your money, especially if you haven’t played craps online before. That said, you can’t win real money by playing craps for free.
Is there a craps strategy to follow?
Not really. There are a few different bets with different house edges, but there’s no step-based strategy when it comes to moving between them. Theoretically, identifying which bet has the lowest house edge and sticking to that one would be the ‘most strategic’ way to play. For a detailed look at the best ways to place bets, take a look at our craps tips section.
Are online craps games rigged?
Not if you’re playing at a legal, licensed casino. The ones we recommend are all listed on publicly-accessible sites by individual states’ governing boards, and are classified as safe. Craps is a game of pure chance dependent purely on dice rolls, however, if you want to be sure that the craps game you’re playing is fair, you need to make sure to stick to reputable casinos.
Can you win at online craps?
Yes, just like at a physical casino, you can win real money when playing craps online. Make sure you are aware of the probabilities of landing a win when betting and keep in mind you won’t win any money if you’re playing a free or demo version of craps online.
