Expert verdict

Say hello to one of the best US offerings to date, with 2,600+ games and a potential $1,020 welcome bonus – a good start for this Borgata online casino review.

It launched in 2013 as one of the original 6 US online casinos and has been a force to reckon with ever since. A 24/7 live casino streamed from Borgata casino itself is one of its more impressive features.

Is it perfect? We’ve seen enough casinos to know that nothing is. But it’s got more good than bad, by far.

Let’s run through all the pros and cons in this Borgata online casino review.

State differences

Borgata online casino is only available to players physically located in the states of New Jersey and Pennsylvania. This casino review is based on the NJ version, home of the famous land-based Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.

The offline Borgata casino launched in 2003 and became the first casino to secure an online gambling site license for the US in 2013. Borgata is now partnered with BetMGM, which runs casinos in multiple states including PartyCasino and Stardust, so expect to see Borgata expand into new states shortly.

If you don’t live in one of the legal states, we recommend checking out our top sweeps cash casinos, which are available across the US.

Borgata online casino bonus – up to $1,020

Borgata online casino offers a welcome bonus consisting of a 100% deposit match bonus up to $1,000 and a free cash bonus of $20. This is well above the average US casino welcome deals around right now.

The Bogata deposit match offer has a 15x wagering requirement on the deposit match bonus and a sweet 1x match on the free cash offer.

Slots, virtual games and scratches will contribute 100% towards wagering requirements. Non-live-dealer blackjack only contributes 10%, but all other table and live dealer games contribute 20%.

If you’re wondering about Borgata casino bonus codes, the code you’ll need to claim the $1,000 deposit match bonus is MCW1000. The $20 bonus is code-free; you won’t need one there.

Once you claim your welcome bonus, there are solid promotion offerings to enhance your Borgata online casino experience. At writing time, one such promotion offers $10 free cash on a particular slot game, as long as you wager $20 on it first.

1-3 other bonuses running is nothing exceptional for most online casinos, and Borgata falls firmly into the pack with 2.

Borgata online casino has Borgata Bucks 24/7 – a series of community jackpots that are guaranteed to drop before hitting particular numbers. There are also slot races that are highly accessible to all players.

Bonus rating

91/100 Terrific, but certainly not perfect
  • Top welcome bonus
  • Loyalty program
  • No welcome free spins

Here we have one of the best welcome bonuses I’ve seen in the US to date, so it’s unsurprising our experts give this Borgata online casino review such a high score.

A free cash bonus alongside a deposit match of over $750 is not something I see every day. The only way it could be improved is maybe by adding a free spins option, as WynnBET online casino does.

A double-tiered bonus (free cash + deposit match) is fantastic and places Borgata amongst the best no-deposit bonus platforms. But, when you consider that NJ is the premier spot for online gambling in the US, and Borgata is NJ’s largest casino, I’m a tad disappointed it doesn’t offer a bit more.

The wagering requirements for the Borgata casino bonus (15x) beat out places like Unibet (25x) or 888 (30x), and the 20% cap on table games is on the stronger side of US casino bonuses. The minimum deposit of $10 for bonus qualification is also better than most.

Outside the welcome bonus, there’s more good than bad, but there’s definitely stuff I don’t like. Let’s run through everything real quick.

Here’s the stuff I like:

– Community jackpots
– Points-based VIP program with rewards and physical casino comps
– Clear and accessible terms and conditions

So why isn’t it perfect? Here’s the stuff I don’t like:

– Only 14 days to wager the $1,000 deposit bonus (SugarHouse offers 30 days)
– Limited options for existing players (BetMGM also offers slot races)
– Existing player bonuses are often specific to 1 game out of 2,800+

On the whole, things look good, but if you’re looking to benefit from existing player bonuses, you may want to shop around.

Games: 4,000+, with exclusives

At writing time, the Borgata casino games library is 4,000+ strong. That’s a top offering, compared to the 500+ average of most US online casinos.

Slots are king here, with around 3,750 in the mix. There are 100+ titles under the exclusives banner, 135+ table games, 20 live casino titles, and 185 progressive jackpots.

For the table game fans, they’ll have 135+ options to choose from, not including the 20+ live casino options.

Demo play is unfortunately not an option and is a black mark against the casino, albeit a small one.

Games rating

87/100 Lots to love, shame about the demos
  • Top-range game library
  • Lots of table options
  • No bingo or lotto
  • No demos

I won’t go on about the demos for longer than I need to – but there’s no excuse for Borgata not having them. Practically all top casinos do.

Not having bingo or lotto is also a slight downer. However, there are plenty of slots-only casinos in the US, so when Borgata’s offers table games, a live casino, virtual sports, and other ‘variety games’, I’m willing to let it slide. They cover all the big ones, including video poker, baccarat, roulette, and blackjack.

My Borgata casino review games verdict? It’s got more than enough to offer most players. Gold star.

Slots and jackpots

There are over 3,700 slots and 180+ jackpots with provider names ranging from Scientific Games and NetEnt to IGT and WMS.

The jackpots are an exciting part of Borgata – the progressives shared over multiple games tend to spike to impressive numbers.

The exclusives like Borgata Cash Spinner and Oracle of Dead share a jackpot of $849,500 at writing time. IGT’s MegaJackpots series is hot on the heels at around $765,000.

One spicy bit of salami is the Borgata Bucks function – small, shared community jackpots that are guaranteed to pay out before hitting their target number. Take a look:

Software: over 20 providers

Borgata online casino has a well above-average haul of 21+ software providers powering their games.

Other top providers at Borgata include Slingo, Scientific Games, WMS, and Konami. Two developers are powering the live casino action here, double the number at the average US casino.

There is no option to download games, but you can play in-browser just as easily. Unlike 888 or SugarHouse, Borgata offers no exclusive software.

Software rating

86/100 No complaints. Way above average.
  • Has Playtech
  • 21+ providers
  • State-specific software
  • Not all top providers present

Seeing Playtech is a huge plus, they’re a popular, award-winning software provider, and they’re missing from a lot of top online casinos.

21+ providers mean Borgata is guaranteed a great score. There are places (cough, Tropicana, cough) that have less than a quarter of that.

The Borgata online casino isn’t home to all the top providers, but I’ve yet to come across one that is. I haven’t seen anything from High 5 Games or Rival at Borgata but that’s not a massive loss.

One other thing I like is that their biggest product (NJ) doesn’t hog everything – Borgata’s PA site runs games from Red Tiger Gaming, which the larger library hasn’t managed to nab yet at the time of writing.

My software verdict for this Borgata casino review? Top-tier.

Borgata payments – 12 options

Borgata’s 12 available payment options are standard for the general market but on the higher end of the casino industry average.

Methods offered include prepaid options like Play+, bank card options, instant bank transfers, ACH, e-wallets, and cash-in-person. They even offer Apple Pay for iPhone users. It is interesting to note that cash-in-person is only common at top casinos.

For card payments, you’ll see big-name options such as Visa, American Express, and MasterCard.

E-wallet options include PayPal, and Borgata one of the few US online casinos that accept Skrill. Cash options include Paynearme and the casino cage, should you happen to be at the Borgata Hotel Casino Spa in person.

All payments have minimum deposit/withdrawal limits of $10, lower than the $20 minimum typically found at US casinos.

Some withdrawal options at Borgata can only be used if you’ve made a deposit via the same payment method in the last 6 months.

Withdrawal options available are Play+, PayPal, VIP Preferred, Skrill, Borgata cage, and Online banking. You can also withdraw via check-by-mail.

Withdrawal methods

Payments rating

90/100 Strong payment options but withdrawals could improve
  • No operator fees
  • All major areas covered
  • Withdrawals can be lengthy
  • Some withdrawals require deposits first

There isn’t much to complain about at Borgata. 12 payment methods is not remarkable, but it’s at the upper end of the average, and more than most competitors. Unibet trails with 8, Golden Nugget with 11. BetMGM tops the ranks with 15.

All major areas are covered, so whether you want to top up your account at your local 7/11 (Paynearme) or want to do everything online (PayPal & co.), you’re set.

You won’t encounter any operator fees from the casino, but your payment provider might not be as lenient, so always check with them. The cash options at the casino cage are staggering – a withdrawal cap of $100,000 is very flexible.

Borgata’s internal processing can take up to 5 days. It’s way over the 2-3 day average for the US. Still, if it’s the price to pay for high limits, I can live with it.

The fact that some withdrawal options can only be used if you have deposited with them in the past 6 months doesn’t delight me. Online banking and PayPal seem to be the greatest victims here. VIP Preferred needs a deposit but doesn’t appear to have a 6-month counter. However, withdrawals can take up to 7 days after processing to come in from here.

Overall though, it’s good news for payments in this Borgata casino review. Borgata floats 8/10 of our top payment methods, excluding just Paysafecard and Neteller. Plus, Borgata is one of the rare casinos that accept American Express.

Safety rating

83/100 All crucial targets hit
  • Safety procedures are all in place
  • Backed by an established gambling brand
  • No detailed info on game fairness

In Borgata’s favor – the help pages are extremely thorough and detailed, even giving info on various game rules, etc. While I wouldn’t call that a safety feature, access to information is a safety bonus, at least to me.

Borgata online casino is licensed by the NJDGE (New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement) in NJ. That means all the legal requirements are adhered to.

The site is SSL-encrypted, accounts must be authenticated with documents/ a social security number, and you can enable 2-factor authentication.

Our Playscore will tell you most reviewers rate it positively, and it’s licensed in multiple states, including an online casino in Pennsylvania, which means more official eyes are watching its moves.

One last thing worth mentioning is the Borgata casino itself – it’s an award-winning casino, which gets some extra merit in our ratings since unsafe operators don’t tend to win awards.

My Borgata casino website review safety rating is strong, but not groundbreaking.

Borgata customer service

The customer service options at Borgata online casino are top-tier, and live chat is available 24/7. There is no phone or X (Twitter) support available at the moment.

Live chat response times were fast during our tests – queuing never took more than a minute. This is extremely quick; 3-5 minute queues are average, and even top places often take 1-3.

Responses to detailed questions occasionally took a little longer, especially when support agents needed to check facts with other departments. However, most issues were addressed within a few minutes.

The time of day made a difference in response quality. Communication with regular-hours support was a little smoother than with late-night support. That being said, all queries were eventually resolved.

Support rating

91/100 No problems here
  • 24/7 live chat
  • Quick queue time
  • Contact page semi-hidden

Talking to customer support is fun… said no one ever. Yet, the Borgata online casino customer service interactions I had were pleasant enough.

Agents were polite and generally knowledgeable about the simple stuff. When I asked questions that required a bit more detail, they had to turn to other departments. When this happened, they made sure to keep up communication – asking permission before putting me on hold, etc. That was a nice touch.

Queue times were fantastic, though being put on hold meant I had to wait a while to get certain answers. I did get them though – I was never fobbed off to a useless FAQ page with a generic answer, and then ignored.

Their FAQ pages are quite standard, but their Help pages? Incredibly detailed. They even have some detailed game guides in there.

The one downside is how many steps you have to go through to find support details. I had to go through FAQs and click a couple of answers to get a ‘Do you need more help?’ prompt. Only from there was I able to access the contact page.

The same goes for Unibet and Caesars. 888 hasn’t even got a live chat option. BetMGM is almost as good as Borgata in online casino customer service, but you have to schedule your phone calls through email.

Usability at Borgata online casino

Registering at Borgata online casino involves nine fields and around 11 clicks in total. It was a two to three-minute process from start to finish.

The site is easy to navigate, with different sections in the header bar for quick reference. There are no filter options available but the search bar enables a fast scan of the site’s entire library of games.

Borgata online casino homepage and live dealer games

The Borgata online casino app can be downloaded for Android and iOS. Most games are available, with just over 98% of the desktop collection present.

The app is generally smooth, and we didn’t experience any serious glitches or crashes while playing.

Claiming the welcome bonus claim is easy, you don’t need a Borgata promotional code to claim the $20 free cash. It’s added automatically upon signup + identity verification.

Usability rating

82/100 Strong search, easy access to all areas
  • Better than average search
  • Clear navigation
  • No real game filters

Starting with the bad news for Borgata – there are no game filters. They’re a super useful tool, and it’s a rare casino in the US that offers good filtering options.

It’s usually easy to register your Borgata online casino account and to get around the website, but I don’t like that the header bar with all the sections listed on it seems to give up around halfway through my screen.

It offers me a ‘More’ button around the 50% mark. That opens a dropdown menu with links to the banking and VIP sections — 2 more buttons could easily fit on the bar, so it seems silly to me.

While there are no filters, Borgata does better than most online casinos. First, it lists some software provider names in each section, offering you ‘top IGT games’ and the like – so if there’s a top provider you’re looking for, you can probably find it. Borgata doesn’t list all its providers, though.

Just as navigation is easy through sections, it’s the same through verticals. One-click will take you to Borgata’s dedicated poker and sports sections too. A plus to see those available and accessible.

If you’re a mobile player, the Borgata casino app will do you proud. You can play just about everything, minus a couple of games, and there are some interface improvements I prefer to the desktop version.

Borgata isn’t groundbreaking in terms of usability, but it’s one of the better casinos you’ll find in that area and definitely won’t be a deal-breaker if you like the rest of what it’s offering.
