Editor’s note

Unibet casino will no longer operate in the US, effective from 31.12.2023.

This review is based on the operator’s current offer in NJ. Data and analysis below are accurate at the time of publishing, but may be subject to change or removal. PA deviations are noted in our state differences section.

Expert verdict — strong, but needs polishing

I think Unibet’s a good casino with lots to offer. There’s a large selection of games, decent registration bonuses and occasional promotions for existing customers. Unibet’s mobile app is excellent, and there’s a good range of payment methods that make gaming accessible to just about every player. The website could use a little upgrading though, especially by adding proper filters, displaying game info such as RTP before launch, and overhauling their FAQ section.

Unibet States of America — where do they operate?

Unibet’s currently operating in 2 states. Unibet NJ and Unibet online casino PA are amongst the popular New Jersey casinos and Pennsylvania casinos. The brand also shows its face in Indiana and Virginia, however, only the Unibet sportsbook is available there for now.

Seeing as Unibet operates in over 100 countries, we don’t doubt that they’ll be moving into other states soon. Especially when you consider that they only entered the US of A in 2019, and already have four on the book! That being said, they’re not the fastest expanders. BetMGM, for example, showed up in 2018, and has already made it to 10 states and D.C. smaller library. In general though, according to all US gambling statistics, the market is growing, and so will Unibet.

If you’re eager to start playing though, we suggest checking out our top sweeps cash casinos, which are available across the US.

Unibet in New Jersey

New Jersey’s what this review is primarily based on, and if you’ve read up to here, you should be out of questions by now.

In any case, here are the highlights:

  • $10 no deposit bonus, 1x wagering requirement
  • $500 first deposit bonus, 25x wagering requirement
  • 600+ games, 10 blackjack tables
  • 8 payment options
  • Apps for iOS and Android

Unibet in Pennsylvania

Generally a little smaller, and we can’t really recommend making the trip to play in PA if you’re NJ-based. However, PA compensates for its size a little – it has a couple of exclusive games in virtually every category, including some Philadelphia Eagles branded games. The welcome bonus is a little better too.

  • $30 welcome bonus, 1x wagering requirement
  • $500 first deposit bonus, 10x wagering requirement
  • Unibet bonus code not required
  • 188 games, including some exclusives
  • Exclusive jackpot title
  • 8 payment options
  • Apps for iOS and Android

Other bonusesCompetitive wagering races, Casino Live Booster

Registered users who stick around and remain part of the Unibet union beyond the new player offer will have a few bonuses to choose from, with three currently available. The Live Casino Booster adds $5 bonus money to your balance when you wager $10 at the live casino during weekends, and the weekly deposit reload is a great example of a regular online casino promotion that sweetens the deal for long-term users.

More sporadic stuff will occasionally show up too — a few months back, Unibet casino online ran a Player’s Choice Monthly Showdown, where every dollar wagered awarded players a point on a leaderboard, with the top scorers being eligible for cash prizes of up to $2,000. They also offer a loyalty rewards program.

Bonus rating

83/100 Favors new players and high rollers
  • Free cash bonus
  • Available on table games
  • 1x wagering on no deposit bonus
  • Less choice for casual players

In my opinion, Unibet is one of those online gambling sites that offer new sign-ups a better deal than long-term players.

There are generous welcome bonuses that are better than the likes of, say, SugarHouse online casino. The terms and conditions of their sign-on bonuses appear to outclass the industry average, with a solid 25x wagering requirement on the $500 first deposit bonus, and a downright lenient 1x wagering requirement on the $10 no deposit bonus (on par with the really great no deposit casinos). For contrast, 888 Casino for example offers a $20 no deposit bonus, but you’ll need to wager it 30x before you can claim your cash.

I really like what they’ve got going with the Live Casino Boost. It’s great to see promotions that target casual players, and a table game bonus is a nice twist! Though it’s a bit of a drag that other available bonuses aren’t as accessible.

We all love the excitement of a competitive betting round, and it’s certainly a plus in my book. But I’m a little underwhelmed that two of Unibet’s promotions only target the highest of rollers. Both the Player’s Choice Monthly Showdown and the Table Game Race award cash prizes to the top wagerers, closing the door on casual players. (For detail’s sake, there’s 10 winners in the Table Game Race, with prizes ranging from $25 to $1,000, while the 50 winners of Monthly Showdown can score between $25 and $2,000.) But hey, if competition and big bets are your thing, a Unibet casino bonus gives you a clear chance to shine!

Other promotions

When it comes to other online promotions at Unibet casino, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. There are currently 3 available promotions available for existing customers, which certainly nets Unibet a point. Some casinos completely abandon their clients once they’re signed up, (looking at 888 again) and that’s not what’s happening here.

Here’s what’s currently running:

  • Table Game Race: Runs weekly, with prizes for top 10 positions. $25 goes to 10th place, and $1000 to first
  • Player’s Choice Monthly Showdown: Monthly, with prizers for 50 winners, where the bottom 20 are awarded $25 and the top is awarded $3,000
  • Deposit Reload: 25% deposit bonus up to a maximum of $50
  • Live Casino Booster: Tiny promotion, available on weekends. $5 credit once $10 are wagered on live table games

When it comes to existing players, the Unibet casino bonuses on offer have solid upsides. But considering how much you’d need to bet just to get to the $25 pool in the competitive races, the everyday player doesn’t benefit much.

I do have to say, I’m not overly impressed with what’s available at Unibet. Running 2 or 3 bonuses is pretty standard for most casinos, but I’m not happy that 2 of Unibet’s exclude most players. Still, I’ll give them a shoutout for running these occasional promos, like the Player’s Choice Monthly, that offer something different.

Bonus terms

Apart from very specific bonuses, Unibet keep things simple, with practically all games available for bonus claim. Compared to the rest of the US Market, I think Unibet’s terms are closer to good than to average.

The general wagering requirements of 100% on slots and 10% on all other games are in line with other strong casinos. Caesar’s for example, is currently running a promotion that only lets slot games contribute 50%, though they compensate by upping video poker to 25%, and all other games match Unibet at 10%.

Where Unibet really wins out  is with the time pressure, offering 30 days to claim most promotions beats a lot of other offers. That Caesars promo only has 7 days to be played through, and even top scoring casino promotions like ones from Golden Nugget (100% on slots, 25% on everything else), limit their claim times to one week.

Unibet bonus codes

In terms of Unibet’s bonus codes, the system varies by state. NJ is the only state that currently requires them, as displayed in our table. These bonuses are still fully claimable in PA, you just don’t need a code for them.

Across the entirety of the US, you’ll find that some places use codes and some don’t – in general, it doesn’t make much difference, except that it’s easier to miss a potential bonus if a code’s needed. That’s not a problem with Unibet though, they’re clearly displayed on the site

Games: 600+ with lots of slots!

Popping open the box of Unibet casino games, there’s over 600 of the best games across the whole site. While that’s less than Golden Nugget’s 850+ games, others like Tropicana get by with around 150. That puts Unibet’s lobby on par with some of the best in the industry, who all average above 500.

Breaking things down, the casino sports over 500 online slots, video poker games, 39 jackpots, 23 table games, and 16 live dealer games, most of which are available 24/7. Sports betting is available for those wish.

High rollers may be interested in the VIP and higher-stakes games like online blackjack tables, one of which offers a betting range of between $30 and $5,000. For contrast, even a large casino like Golden Nugget has a high-limits blackjack table with a max bet of just $2,500. In our view, this makes Unibet one of the top blackjack apps in the US.

There’s a few scratch games, card games and a couple of video poker options hidden in the pile, but Unibet doesn’t seem to be offering any options for lotto, bingo, online craps or keno at the moment. If bingo and keno are what you’re looking for, the Tropicana and Sugarhouse online casinos might be worth checking out. If live casino games are your jam, stick with Unibet.

The only solid complaint we have about Unibet’s games is that for most titles, you can’t view the RTP and other info without launching the game. If you know what kind of game you’re looking for, this can really slow down your search.

Games rating

86/100 Great for fans of slots and blackjack!
  • Over 500 slots
  • Live tables, including high stakes
  • No options for bingo, lotto or keno

In my opinion, the games are certainly one of Unibet’s stronger points, both in terms of quantity (600+), and variety (table, live, high-stakes).

I’m quite happy with the available live options. Though there are currently only 2 poker and 3 roulette tables (including French roulette), and just 1 for baccarat, there’s 10 options for blackjack. That may not sound like a lot, but it’s ahead of the curve. For comparison, BetMGM’s a strong casino, and its live casino offers 2 options for baccarat and roulette, and 4 for poker and blackjack. Even Borgata only hosts 14 live games compared to Unibet’s 16.

Unibet does deserve a point for including a filter system for its games. Its search bar and alphabetical sorting will help experienced players find their favorite games, though it could be more extensive. Looking back to Golden Nugget, they have a phenomenal filtering system which allows you to sort by studio, game type, theme and even user rating.

Among the things which are clearly missing are options for lotto, keno, craps or bingo, which keeps Unibet’s online casino from hitting a perfect score. Tropicana’s online casino should sort you for bingo, though it has a much smaller library on the whole. Caesar’s and Sugarhouse have libraries similar in size to Unibet’s, but they can offer a couple of keno options if that’s your jam.

As far as slots go, I’ll stick to this one. And with 39 jackpots to play through, I’ll be here a while.

Slots

Unibet’s slot library contains over 500 games. It’s more than average, but not as much as somewhere like Caesar’s (700+) or Golden Nugget (aorund 800). Still, Unibet is hosting a lot of popular slot games, making it a solid choice. For fans of particular studios, big ones present here include SG, WMS, High 5, Slingo, NetEnt and IGT.

The casino has a ‘popular’ tab, which makes it easy to find well-loved games, and Unibet offers an ‘Our Favorites’ option to put forward their own recommendations. Based on player popularity, casino recommendation and our experience, we’ve handpicked a few top titles so you can jump right in.

Player popularity: Triple Da Vinci Diamonds

A hugely popular High 5 game centred around a spin-crease meter that improves theoretical RTP over time, this (renaissance) masterpiece has a well-loved  tumbling reels feature that can net you multiple wins on a single spin.

From Unibet’s recommendations: 100,000 Pyramid

Themed after the Dick Clark tv show, IGT’s 100,000 Pyramid offers players adjustable betting lines, a Winner’s Circle scatter bonus that’ll have you grabbing free spins and multipliers as you make your way up the pyramid. Last but not least, there’s a 100,000 coin jackpot feature.

Expert’s pick: Starburst slot

This simple game from NetEnt is popular with players of all slot experience levels. The cosmic theme and arcade lights and sound effects are fun to hear when you score a win, and the game keeps it chill, with its main feature being a Starburst Wilds reel that can net players up to three respins

Jackpots

Here’s where I think Unibet does really well, 39 jackpot games available is quite a large  number compared to the general market. SugarHouse and Golden Nugget have huge game libraries, and they’ve only got 10 and 14 respectively.

Looking for top picks, we’re pleased to see a couple of titles from IGT’s MegaJackpots series – they’re not the flashiest games ever, but the series is from a reputable provider, and has paid out some huge rewards in the past, including a $900,000 + jackpot earlier this year

Divine Fortune is another top name that’s worth keeping an eye on – the NJDGE keeps track of $50,000 + jackpots, and one Divine Fortune game’s nearly up to half a million.

Other casino games

Coming to the less slotty stuff, there’s a fair suite around, though it’s mostly dominated by Unibet’s table games. Unibet gets a decently high score here when we contrast with the general casino market. Some slots-only casinos exist and happily get by,  whereas Unibet offers table games, video poker and scratch cards on top of that, not to mention the live dealer games.

Unibet online casino doesn’t have everything, so it doesn’t merit a perfect score, but it covers all the big bases. The other stuff we’d like to see are chiefly lotto, bingo, craps and keno.  To make some more concrete comparisons, we’ve got to say that Unibet doesn’t have the biggest table library we’ve seen. It offers 23 games, in a market where it’s not uncommon to see close to double that. BetMGM’s online casino had 36 at my last count, and 888 and Resorts casino both hit the 40+ mark.

It’s not all doom and gloom for Unibet though, their list is actually quite varied, with top providers such as NetEnt, WMS, SG and IGT all providing games for their table. Of course, more variety points go to those with bigger libraries, but there’s quite a diverse selection, considering Unibet’s library size. Let’s check out what they do offer:

Poker is the big one here, there’s 10 different options, ranging from a few versions of Texas Hold ‘em all the way up to five-card variants.

Roulette players have American, European, French, Multihand and Advanced to pick from. With a maximum bet of $5,000, Roulette Advanced is something the high rollers will want to keep an eye on – even some bigger casinos don’t set their table with a high-stakes option. For those who like a bit of a twist, there’s a Monopoly-themed variant called Monopoly Big Spin.

There’s one option each for video poker and for baccarat, and scratch card enthusiasts will find a couple of choices around, including the wildly popular Merlin’s Millions and Oil Mania, both powered by NextGen.

While we’ve already talked about it, it’s worth remembering that Unibet do allow their table games to contribute towards wagering requirements. Purely as a point of comparison to the general casino market, it scores them a few extra points in our ratings.

We’re saving our top picks for the classics though, and Unibet’s Popular page seems to agree with us. Ultimate Texas Hold ‘em, American Roulette, and classic Blackjack all rank near the top of the page, and having a Baccarat option is a nice bonus too.

Unibet live casino games

Blackjack players should have a great time at the Unibet live casino, with 10 tables available. A chat with customer support confirmed that most of the live tables run 24/7, which is another point where Unibet outclasses the industry average. While it’s not uncommon at big casinos – some of Caesar’s games run 24/7 (GN has some24/7s if we need another example), SugarHouse’s “only” run from 11AM-2AM.

There’s a few options for other games, 2 for poker and 1 for baccarat. There’s three options for roulette though, including the Lightning Auto Roulette – a fast, automated version. Author’s note: I usually like to take my time and relax when I’m playing, but I know that there’s plenty of more energetic players out there, so this might be something you’d want to watch out for. I’ve seen this game at other casinos, but what’s cool about the Unibet live casino is that they offer it on the mobile app too, which I haven’t seen at too many other places.

Theoretical RTP by games type

Disclaimer: Most casinos don’t disclose their official numbers, and Unibet is no exception here. True RTP scores are dependent on the amount of money played on each individual game, and can’t be calculated just from the theoretical numbers. Our RTP scores are based on the available (theoretical) numbers, but we believe these scores are still in your interest, and offer value to players based on their playing pattern. To calculate these numbers, we went through every available game in each category except slots, where we averaged from the top 20, since these are the games players are most likely to encounter

With over 20 game studios represented at Unibet, experienced players will quickly spot some titles they recognize as they scroll through the games library. Popular providers on the list include NetEnt, IGT, SG and High5. Not all the huge names are represented at Unibet though, with Playtech and Microgaming among the missing.

Software rating

82/100 Strong library, but missing a few favorites
  • Large range of software
  • Live games streamed directly from land casino
  • Room for a few more top providers

My take is that there’s good stuff going on here. The large number of total software providers (20+) is certainly a feather in Unibet’s cap, when our average scores go to operators with around 10-15. That being said, there’s a few top names here I’d like to see.

I’m always happy to see NetEnt pop up in the list, and it looks like Unibet is too. The protagonist from one of NetEnt’s most popular games, Gonzo’s Quest, is splayed across the promotions banner on the Unibet site. NetEnt are quite known for their 3D slot games, but they’ve been pushing into the live dealer sector too, so I’m hoping that Unibet will eventually bring some of those in and continue to strengthen their live portfolio even further.

Currently, the live tables are handled by Evolution, and it’s always great to see them. They’re the market leader for live casino, and you’ll see their name on many top live casino sites.

I won’t waste time writing out the details of every provider listed, but some others I’m pleased to see are IGT (known for their jackpots), Scientific Games (huge company, in games since 1932) and WMS (probably most known for their branded slots). That being said, there’s room for growth when it comes to top stuff.

We’ve got a shared list of favorite top providers floating around, and when we’re scrolling through top casinos, we tend to spot around 8 or 9 of them on average. At Unibet, I’m only seeing 6, so I think they could definitely improve that regard. Without names like Playtech and Konami showing up, I’m not comfortable giving Unibet a top score here.

(Note – If you’re curious, the 6 faves at Unibet are NetEnt, High 5, IGT, SG, WMS and Slingo).

I’ll give Unibet some more points for other aspects though – I specifically like that they’ve got Evolution streaming their games on-site from Atlantic City, especially since they run 24/7. Smaller places can’t always swing that, and it’s great that Unibet are among those that can.

Know your software – who are our Unibet casino faves?

Unibet’s top softwares

  • NetEnt – Known for 3D slot games with good audiovisual effects (we like Dead or Alive 2!) They’re also the minds behind Divine Fortune, our favorite jackpot game at Unibet.
  • IGT – Known for their MegaJackpots series, which share progressive jackpots between games, and for their Megabucks slot, which has served up some of the biggest wins in the USA, including a recent $10.5 million hoard! Sorry to say, you won’t find that, even at some of the best online casinos. There’s a couple of MegaJackpots titles though!
  • SG (Scientific Games) – SG is a huge developer with a massive library, and 8 different software developers are currently operating under their umbrella. They can trace their roots back to 1932 as a pinball company. With such a dynamic range of titles under their name, it’s hard to pick out something concrete – but we can try be clever and choose something unusual. They’re one of the video poker providers in the table games section, and their DJ Wild Stud Poker is one of the highest RTP games at Unibet, with a theoretical return of 99.22%.
  • WMS – Actually one of the divisions owned by SG, WMS is another old hand from the pinball world, stretching back to 1943. You may know them as the guys who came up with the tilt device in pinball machines. They’ve been hanging around the online casino world since 2009, starting off in the UK market. They’ve made branded games for some huge names in entertainment, such as Star Trek. While that one’s not showing up at Unibet, you may still recognize a few big brand names, such as Anchorman. It technically comes up under the SG handle when you’re loading up the game, but  don’t be confused. It’s a WMS title, and may show up as such at other casinos. They handle some titles for Monopoly too, such as Monopoly: Electric Wins.
  • High 5 – Creators of the incredibly popular Da Vinci Diamonds slot series, High 5 has been a sleeping giant until recently. After years producing games for other manufacturers (Konami, WMS, IGT etc), they’ve put effort into making sure everyone learns their name. They’re known for innovating some interesting mechanics for slots players, such as tumbling reels and stacked wild symbols. Triple Da Vinci Diamonds features those tumbling reels, and is near the top of the list on Unibet’s Popular page.

Live casino software at Unibet

The live casino at Unibet is handled by Evolution, and absolutely no one should have a problem with that. Evolution are industry leaders in the live casino game, and you’ll see the name all over the web. They have their own Evolution Gaming Academy to train dealers, offer high-quality video with multiple camera angles, and almost always stream their games from physical casinos (including at Unibet). If you’re looking for something to try, their Infinite Blackjack is well-loved on account of it’s high theoretical RTP, which averages at 99.51%.

Payment options — eight ways

Unibet’s options here are highly functional, with payment methods covering all the key bases. Credit or debit card payments, PayPal, a prepaid Play+ card and cash payments are all available. ACH methods are offered too, from VIP Preferred, as well as Online Banking Transfer.

Payments rating

71/100 Covers all key options and accepts PayPal
  • PayPal friendly
  • Can deposit from a physical casino
  • Payout times could be faster

Unibet online casino offers enough options to cover just about every player, but I think they could be doing better.

First off, I’ll mention their withdrawal times – they usually take up to 3 days, which is pretty average for big casinos. Caesar’s is on par with 3 days, though Borgata can take up to 5.

Second, a bit of clarity would go a long way – Neteller isn’t listed in the payment methods, and didn’t show up in my withdrawal options, but it was referenced in a support article. Whether or not it’s available, I don’t appreciate that inconsistency much. (By the way, I continued researching for this Unibet casino review, and it turns out Neteller isn’t available).

That means Unibet could do with strengthening their payment portfolio. Some options that we see at other top casinos aren’t available here – for example, Golden Nugget accepts American Express, and BetMGM takes Skrill. Unibet’s total number of payment methods is 8, which is about average. We set 10 as the benchmark to be called ‘above average,’ and BetMGM gets a top score with 15.

It’s definitely a huge plus that PayPal is available. The payment giant is known for being ultra-strict with its dealings in the iGaming world, so a vote of confidence from them is a bonus in my book.

I also quite like their payment options for cash-based customers. Local participating stores (over 27,000 locations, according to Unibet) can be accessed for payments, or clients can handle everything from a physical casino.

Having their own prepaid Play+ card is a nice bonus too, and plenty of top casinos offer that option, such as 888 and Golden Nugget.

I’ll give Unibet one more point for not having deposit and withdrawal fees on their site – the FAQ section was vague about it, but I didn’t come across any fees when I was using the site, and a chat with customer service confirmed that the casino doesn’t surprise players with bills.

Unibet payment specifics

Full details of all of Unibet’s payment methods are listed here, but if you’re looking for a top option, we can never recommend PayPal enough. They’re known for being stricter than most casino regulators when they decide who to do business with, so if you’ve got a PayPal account, you can rest easy, as far as we’re concerned

Credit/debit card

Visa and Mastercard accepted. However, transfers are often rejected by banks. Unibet identifies Bank of America, Capital One, JPMorgan Chase and Santander as problematic, and recommends ACH e-checking systems instead.

PayPal

Super accessible, super safe. A strong all-round choice. According to the Unibet Casino NJ, withdrawals take approximately 3 business days. Requires an active bank account to be linked to your PayPal account.

E-Check

E-Checking methods are available from VIP Preferred.  They allow you to transfer funds directly between your casino and bank accounts. Requires a US bank account to use, and there are unspecified deposit limits “subject to individual banking statuses.”

Online banking transfer

Allows funds to be transferred to and from checking and savings accounts at participating banks. Requires an account at Bank of America, BB&T, Chase, HSBC Bank USA, ING Direct, PNC, Regions, SunTrust, TD Bank, U.S. Bank, Capital One 360 or New York Community Bank.

Pay+

The Unibet Prepaid Pay+ Card can be used wherever Discover is accepted, and at ATMs that accept PULSE® and NYCE cards. It will take 10-14 days for the physical card to arrive, but it can be topped up from your bank account with ease.

PayNearMe

Cash payments can be made at participating 7-Eleven, Family Dollar and CVS. There’s a $500 per day limit on cash transactions via this method, but it is fee-free, and your account will be credited within 30 minutes.

Casino cash

Cash deposits and withdrawals can also be made in-person on selected casino floors. That’ll be the Casino Cage, Hard Rock Hotel Casino, Atlantic City for the NJ clients.

Safety at Unibet — strong performance, unhelpful web pages

Unibet online casino is legal and licensed in every state it operates in – that’s Pennsylvania and New Jersey, though Unibet also runs sportsbooks in Indiana and Virginia. In New Jersey, the regulatory authorities that oversee Unibet are the New Jersey Casino Control Commission (CCC) and the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE).

The larger Unibet brand is a winner of international gaming awards, including a Corporate Responsibility Programme of the Year for its “Player Safety Early Detection System”, at the 2019 Global Gaming Awards. It encourages players to play responsibly and to avoid any gambling problem, and Unibet online casino legal matters should give the player peace of mind.

Safety rating

84/100 Everything looks above board, but info is hard to find
  • Part of award-winning brand for player safety
  • Dedicated pages to responsible gambling efforts
  • Transparency issues – US information is difficult to find.

*For full disclosure – While Unibet has never been blacklisted in the US, it was among a block of major operators (including William Hill, PokerStars and Betway), who were blacklisted in Lithuania in 2016 for operating without “special permission.”

Despite being a large international operator, and an award winner for player safety, I have to dock a few points off Unibet for transparency on their website.

All the right stuff is there – the responsible gambling logo you’ll find on licensed NJ sites, the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE) logo in the footer, etc. But, it’s hard to find any of the details and information on their website. I’m using Unibet New Jersey as the example here, but it carries over to PA – there’s all the right logos from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) about.  Everything seems above board at both of Unibet’s online casinos, but their FAQ and help sections need improvement to reflect this.

I may be nit-picking a little, but player safety should be the most important thing for a casino, and I believe specificity makes a difference here. Yes, Unibet’s FAQs confirm that they are licensed and regulated by the NJDGE and the CCC, and separately states that their games are audited to ensure the fairness of their RNG. But they don’t specifically state that the NJDGE audits their games. Honestly, they probably do, it’s a fair assumption – but I’ll keep my top safety scores for operators who specifically state it (BetMGM and SugarHouse, for instance.)

Unibet does have a strong responsible gambling page with all the necessary info, and the right links to support organizations for players who feel they need to reach out. They offer responsible gaming tools, like the ability to set deposit limits, session time limits and spend limits. Again, great stuff, but not the best I’ve ever seen. When it comes to player safety, I really appreciate those operators who go the extra mile – for example, I love that Virgin and Tropicana put thumbnails linking to their responsible gaming tools inside their promotions page.

Unibet covers all the bases, and look to be perfectly fine from where I’m standing, but my top scores go to casinos who make that little bit of extra effort.

Player safety summary and awards

Unibet Casino is safe for a number of reasons

  • The casino’s licensed in multiple states and regulated by multiple organizations (NJ: New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE), license number NJIGP 20-010. PA: Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), license number IG-11702-1)
  • Games are audited by the NJDGE and the PGCB.
  • Unibet implements responsible gambling tools such as deposit limits, spend limits, and session time limits.
  • Compared to the rest of the iGaming industry: Unibet certainly covers all the bases, but it doesn’t go the extra mile that places like Virgin, Tropicana, BetMGM and Sugarhouse do.

Responsible gambling awards

Unibet are award winners for responsible gaming – even if outside the US. They recently scored awards for their “Player Safety Early Detection System Program,” and for their socially responsible operation.

In line with NJ law, their responsible gambling pages also give external links to the Council on Compulsive Gambling New Jersey (https://800gambler.org/) and to the National Council on Problem Gambling (https://www.ncpgambling.org/).

Unibet’s mobile app gets an outstanding score — but why?

Every single game from the desktop version is available in the Unibet casino mobile app. There are mobile apps for both iOS and Android devices. Our test of the Unibet casino app went well, and we experienced no glitches or crashes.

The search bar isn’t available on the main screen, but navigation is generally easy. Unibet comes out ahead with a mobile-exclusive Touch Roulette title, and by offering a higher proportion of total available games than most of its competitors.

Mobile rating

94/100 Even better than the web version?
  • All games available on mobile
  • Exclusive mobile table game – Touch Roulette
  • All interface options on mobile
  • Search bar is a little hard to find

I know, I know. ‘Even better than the web version’ is a tall order for a mobile app, but here’s my logic: It’s almost exactly the same, and has one more, mobile-exclusive game. The same +1 is better, right?

Jokes aside, I think Unibet’s mobile version is amongst the best mobile casinos I’ve seen. It has the same issues with filters and stuff that I point out in the usability section, but that’s a Unibet problem, not a mobile problem, if you get my drift.

What I’m evaluating the mobile experience on primarily is the number of games available when compared to the web version, and guess what, Unibet aren’t missing a single one! Trust me, that’s quite special. Some comparison points – Golden Nugget scores pretty highly on our mobile front, and they’re missing over 20 games from their mobile app. Our average scores go to places that are missing between 20-40%.

Even more impressive is the Unibet live casino app. Unibet manages to keep all its live games, especially when you consider it’s got one of the larger live game libraries we’ve seen. To compare with something of a similar size, Unibet gets 16/16 onto its mobile version, while Borgata only manages 12 out of its 14. Both operators run Lightning Auto Roulette, but only Unibet sends it to my phone. Though I’ve got to say, the live games at Unibet casino look better on an ipad than on a phone.

Having native apps on iOS and Android is pretty cool, but that’s just about expected from anywhere that wants to be taken seriously as a top casino.

I didn’t have any trouble getting around the Unibet casino app. Everything loaded fast, and even the demo versions of games were available. The only complaint I have is that I had to open a side menu to access the search bar, but I’ll survive, somehow.

Support options at Unibet casino

Unibet Casino’s support offers a wide range of easily accessible help options. Phone, email, live chat, and an FAQ section are all available, plus a ‘leave a message’ option during the live chat’s off hours.

Live chat is available 7 days a week, which is a good thing, but Unibet misses out on being an industry leader by not offering it 24/7. Lower-tier casinos will only offer a few hours of chat functionality during weekdays, but big players like Borgata and BetMGM man the channels 24/7.

Support rating

88/100 Great options, quick replies, bad FAQs
  • Good range of support options
  • Live chat 7 days a week
  • ‘Leave a message’ option with file attachment
  • Answers could be clearer
  • FAQ section could be improved

Mostly good things to say here. Players can contact Unibet through email, live chat or by phone. Top places should offer all those options, but some don’t – 888, for instance, only has a contact form. Unibet is ahead of the pack when it comes to availability.

The live chat is available 7 days a week, which is good, but not 24/7, keeping Unibet from a perfect score – I’ll call Unibet above average in this respect, on par with places like Resorts casino, which offer similar hours.

Response times to live chat were great during my test, I never had a queue time of more than a minute for Unibet, which is fantastic. 3-5 minutes is quite average, and I had to wait over 20 the first time I tried Golden Nugget’s!

One huge plus is that the live chat is open to all, and you don’t need to be signed in for it. I think it’s a great option that not all casinos offer. It helps new players make informed decisions, and is super helpful for customers having account issues. There wasn’t any need to answer questions before starting the chat either, so I’ll give Unibet a point over BetMGM, even if the latter’s a strong operator with 24/7 hours.

When I was testing out live chat for my Unibet casino review, the answers I got were mixed, but I rate most of them well. Simple questions were no problem at all, but I got stock answers to more technical stuff, like the availability of specific payment methods.

I got one “bad”  answer when I tried the ‘leave a message’ function to ask about deposit times and got an answer about withdrawal times, but I can write it off as a simple mistake. Apart from that, staff were polite and friendly, seemed knowledgeable, and were well-equipped to answer most questions.

I really do like the ‘leave a message’ system, especially since it offers users the ability to attach up to five files with their message. If you are struggling with a glitch or a pop-up, this system makes it very easy to show Unibet support exactly what you’re up against. I’ve seen it at some other casinos like Resorts and SugarHouse, but that doesn’t make me love it any less.

What I will complain about is the FAQ section. It could be much bigger, and answers could be significantly more detailed. I really don’t like the FAQ on deposit/withdrawal fees, all it says is that “any” fees will show up when you make your transaction. An answer like that doesn’t give players the weapons they need to fight hidden costs.

Our Unibet support experience – data and guides

Our customer support experience: the data

We had a good run with Unibet’s customer support. It’s very hard to compare response quality from different casinos except in the most extreme cases, but they had no trouble answering our questions. You can definitely compare speeds, and Unibet’s live chat responses were practically instant, beating out bigger casinos like Golden Nugget. The email answers were a little more sporadic. For full disclosure – we sent them during off hours. Some of them came back within 30 minutes of opening, and others near the end of the workday. However, everything took less than 12 hours from start to finish.

Accessing live chat

Live chat is available by pressing the Help & Info tab in the top right corner, which will open a new window to the FAQ section. Once there, a green bubble in the bottom right corner can be clicked to open a chat box. The chat box functions as a second search bar for the FAQ section, but contains a ‘get in touch’ button that will allow players to open live chat or leave a message and an email address. While useful, I do prefer to see support bubbles on the main pages too, which means Unibet misses out on a point that I’d award to other casinos, like Caesar’s, Resorts and Mohegan Sun. It doesn’t say much about their overall quality, but it’s a simple change with a big difference.

Unibet’s usability rating — good but not great

Unibet’s site is easy to navigate. Signing up doesn’t take long (a couple of minutes) and claiming bonuses proved to be quite easy during our test. Getting around the site isn’t difficult, with clear categories available in the header, and finding specific games is no problem at all, thanks to a handy search bar.

That being said, the interface can be improved. While it’s easy to find individual games, finding groups is a chore, since the filter system is quite basic. If you’re a fan of, say, NetEnt, and you want to see all the NetEnt games, you’re out of luck.

Usability rating

89/100 Easy sign-up and bonus claim, the interface needs work
  • Handy search bar
  • Clear section divisions
  • Easy sign up and bonus claim
  • Filter system can be improved

Signing up to Unibet wasn’t an issue whatsoever. Comparing sign-up processes between sites is incredibly subjective, but here’s my take on Unibet’s.

The sign-up form is a little longer than some other sites’, like Resorts or BetMGM, because Unibet asks for security questions. That being said, Unibet has everything on one page, which sped up the process – in the end, none of these took me any more than a couple of minutes.

Claiming my welcome bonus was child’s play too, the code box was one of the fields on the sign up form. With 20 fields on the sign-up page including 9 drop-down menus, you’ll be up and running in 30 mouse-clicks.

Navigating Unibet’s site is another matter. It’s not a complex procedure, but I think it should be. Weird right? I’ll explain.

While it’s great that you can get around the site in just a few clicks, I think Unibet are really missing a trick by not implementing an advanced filter system. Personally, I like NetEnt games, and Unibet doesn’t give me the option to sort by provider. I know some of my readers will agree – especially the IGT fans who’ll want to pick their jackpot games out of the pile.

Unibet’s system lets you sort games by ‘Our favorites’ and alphabetically, in both ascending and descending order. It’s not bad, especially when you combine it with the list view option, that actually shows the game titles! But if you compare this with SugarHouse’s filter system, which lets you sort by provider, number of pay lines and ‘top historical win multiplier,’ Unibet has lots of room to improve. And if you compare it to Golden Nugget’s filter system… no contest.

That aside, Unibet’s site is generally easy to navigate. The top menus split the site into sportsbook and casino, and once on casino, all the categories are there. The ‘Popular’ page is a great touch, and I like that table games and jackpots have their own categories. My verdict would be to score the interface somewhere in the middle, when compared to the overall casino scene. Though Unibet doesn’t do it as well as some others, they at least have a search bar and ‘sort by’ system, which don’t appear on Virgin/Tropicana.

Tips and tricks, the sign-up process, and the future of Unibet

Interface in overview

Unibet’s interface is quite simple, first splitting off the sportsbook from the casino, and offering some broad options for navigating once in. Players can choose between their desired game types and get browsing. It’s good to see a ‘Popular’ page, it’s something that we haven’t seen show up often on other sites, even big names like Caesar’s, Golden Nugget, and BetMGM. We think it’s a really good tool for new players to find the good stuff.

There’s options to sort games alphabetically, and the list view displays titles, which is another thing we like. Sure, there’s a search bar, but if you can only remember one or two words from the title of a game you liked, it’ll help you bust out the ol’ ctrl+f.

What's next for Unibet?

Unibet is growing. When they launched in the US a couple of years ago, they didn’t have a single live dealer game, and now, they’ve got one of the largest selections we’ve come across. The site’s developed in the time we’ve been playing here, and we’ve no reason to believe the trend won’t continue.

A ‘New’ page shows that the casino’s serious about growing its site and game library, and scrolling through other Unibet reviews helps confirm this suspicion – the more recent reviews note down larger game numbers. We’re confident that more stuff will show up here, and it’s worth keeping an eye out. For comparison, Tropicana and 888 have been in the online casino since 2013, and both have smaller libraries than Unibet’s.
