Released in May 2026, Le Digger is one of Hacksaw Gaming’s latest additions to the recognizable Le slot series. Like its predecessors, this cluster pays slot is played on a 6-reel, 5-row gaming grid. However, this time around, it’s paired with mining-themed Layers and Dynamite Removal features.

Le Digger’s RTP clocks in at 96.26%, which is slightly above the industry average. Variance is rated 3 on a scale of 1 to 5, which places the game in the medium-volatility basket.

There are no traditional paylines in Le Digger, as the game relies on a cluster pays mechanic, which requires landing at least 5 of the same symbols on adjacent squares. The larger the cluster, the bigger the payout.

Time2play Expert Analysis With a 96.26% RTP, Le Digger falls in line with the rest of the studio’s Le series, which kicked off with Le Bandit back in 2023. That said, this is the top configuration only, and the provider still offers 3 other operator-selectable RTP versions: 94.33%, 92.34%, and the abysmally low 86.25%.

If you go with the highest-return option, as I did during testing, you’ll find that it pairs well with both the medium volatility and the cluster pays mechanic. The game feels as rewarding as you’d expect from this setup, with a reasonable mix of smaller hits and larger wins.

Le Digger is jam-packed with features, including Layers, Dynamite Removal, Golden Reveals, and 3 distinct free spins rounds.

Layers

After a cluster of 5+ symbols pays out or a cascade activates, one layer is removed from the squares behind the winning symbols. A new one appears, and new symbols drop into those chipped squares. This is repeated until there are no more wins.

All squares on Le Digger’s 6×5 gaming grid have 3 layers. Layers 1 and 2 can feature low-paying card ranks, high-paying symbols, dynamite wilds, and FS scatters, while Layer 3 reveals only special symbols.

Dynamite Removal

Once the grid settles from cluster pays and cascades, Smokey may not be happy with how deep you’ve dug, so he might throw 1–5 sticks of dynamite to chip away at those layers some more. Each explosion affects a 2×2 square and removes all symbols and 1 layer behind them.

If a stick of dynamite gets thrown next to a dynamite wild on the grid, there’ll be a bigger 3×3 square explosion, potentially causing a chain reaction. This also removes all symbols from that area and one layer behind them, but it won’t affect Layer 3 or FS scatters.

Golden Reveals

This feature triggers when you reach Layer 3. Each exposed square reveals special symbols, including:

• Bronze coins worth 1x, 2x, 3x, or 4x your stake
• Silver coins worth 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, or 10x your stake
• Gold coins worth 20x, 30x, 40x, or 50x your stake
• Diamond coins worth 100x, 150x, 250x, or 500x your stake
• Bags of money, which collect coins and collectors, store their values, and then reveal new special symbols. This is repeated for each bag of money.
• Green clovers, which multiply adjacent coins or collectors by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, or 20x
• Gold clovers, which multiply all coins or collectors on the grid by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, or 20x

Free spins

There are 3 distinct bonus rounds in Le Digger, and they all start you off with 10 free spins. Here’s how they’re set up:

• Tomb Service: Triggered by 3 FS scatters, this bonus round adds a Dynamite Collector that picks up dynamite wilds whenever they’re part of a 5+ symbol cluster. On the last free spin, Smokey throws all collected dynamite sticks onto the grid, potentially creating new winning clusters and Golden Reveals.
• Dig It: Get an additional scatter, and you move into Dig It territory, where a Blast Bar sits to the left of the reels and counts the number of symbols removed by winning clusters and dynamite blasts. Fill it up with 85 symbols, and it’ll remove bronze coins from the grid, give you 5 additional free spins, and reset. You can activate the progressive Blast Bar 2 more times, with 100 symbols to remove silver and 115 to remove gold coins and reach diamond ones.
• Gold Digger: Land 5 FS scatters, and Smokey will throw 5 sticks of dynamite onto the grid upon every free spin after cluster wins pay out. This hidden epic bonus round also removes bronze coins from play, leaving you with only silver, gold, and diamond coins and green and gold clovers.

Additional FS scatters can appear during all 3 rounds to extend the bonus, with 2 symbols awarding 2 and 3 symbols giving you 4 extra free spins.

Gamble feature

If you’ve landed 3 FS scatters or bought your way into Tomb Service, you’ll get the option to continue with 10 free spins or gamble for a chance at Dig It. Choose the latter, and dynamite will start blasting symbols on a small 2×2 grid that includes a bronze, a silver, and a gold coin, as well as the FS symbol. The last symbol remaining is the one you’ll be awarded.

The same principle applies to Dig It, with the Gamble feature giving you a shot at Gold Digger. However, you now have 8 symbols in play, including 2 silver coins, 4 gold coins, a diamond, and an FS symbol.

Le Digger’s Buy Bonus menu has 4 purchase options:

Time2play Expert Analysis Le Digger drops the series’s well-known Golden Squares in favor of a more layered approach via the aptly named Layers (and Golden Reveals). Although it’s unique, I’m not sure I like it, as it just feels like there’s now an extra layer you need to dig through to get to the good part. And dynamite isn’t as helpful as I had hoped it would be, as it only chips away 1 layer at a time.

That said, I have to give it to Hacksaw Gaming for their bonuses once again. While they build on the base game’s mechanics, they’re also quite diverse. I was lucky enough to trigger all 3 at least once, and as expected, Gold Digger’s explosions on each spin felt the most rewarding, whereas Tomb Service and Dig It tossed me a few smaller hits in between too many dead spins.

But if there’s one thing I wasn’t even tempted to try, it’s the Gamble feature. In an attempt to upgrade Tomb Service into Dig It, the 4 symbols give you a 25% shot, while trying to go from Dig It to Gold Digger halves your chances. And I don’t see that as ever being worth it.

Symbols and paytable

Le Digger has 10 regular symbols, including 5 card royals as the lower-paying ones. They all pay the same for clusters of 5 to 14+ symbols:

• 0.4x for 5
• 0.8x for 6 or 7
• 1.2x for 8 or 9
• 4x for 10 or 11
• 20x for 12 or 13
• 100x for 14+

The higher-paying symbols consist of 5 dig-site-themed icons: hats, binoculars, backpacks, fossils, and lanterns. Here’s how they pay out:

Besides regular-paying symbols and special symbols tied to the Golden Reveals feature, you also get dynamite wilds, which substitute for all other symbols on the grid.

Time2play Expert Analysis While I’m not a fan of setups where all symbols pay out the same, Le Digger does give you precisely what you’d expect from a 6×5 gaming grid with cluster pays. Plus, the lower end of the paytable doesn’t feel as thin as Le Bunny’s, so you can land decent hits with fewer symbols.

That said, big wins of 10x and more still require clusters of 10+ symbols, and I didn’t exactly see too many of these. Most of my larger rewards came from reaching Layer 3 with the help of Smokey’s sticks of dynamite.

How to play Le Digger

Even if Le Digger’s features seem complicated at first, playing the game is quite straightforward. To start, tap/click the up and down arrows in the bottom right to adjust your stake between $0.05 and $50.

If you prefer to kick back and relax instead of hitting spin, you can use the autoplay option to set 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 500, or 1,000 automated spins, as well as set up loss limits and single win limits or stop autoplay in the advanced menu here.

The menu button sits in the bottom-left corner. Hit it, and you can access the game’s info page, enable Turbo or Super Turbo for both the base game and the bonus rounds, and mute the game’s music or all sounds.

Expert verdict

Le Digger is a genuine step up from Le Bunny, the previous installment in the series that felt like a reskin of the neon Vegas-themed Le King. It’s almost as if Hacksaw Gaming heard the fans and decided to do a full 180 for Le Digger, giving it both a polished thematic refresh and inventive features that play well together.

It’s not without its flaws, though. For starters, it may not suit high rollers due to its $50 max stake, though it’s still better than Le Cowboy’s $40 limit. But overall, peeling back the 3 layers beneath the grid’s squares to reach the Golden Reveals is certainly satisfying, and Smokey’s dynamite throws contribute to the unpredictability factor.

Yet it’s always the free spins rounds with Hacksaw Gaming, right? It’s certainly the case here, as the 3 distinct bonuses ensure there’s always something worth excavating. The Gold Digger round is the crown jewel of the setup with guaranteed dynamite explosions on every spin. Triggering it is a whole different story, though.
