Invaders from the Planet Moolah was originally released by WMS in July 2013. The slot playfully combines two themes, Space Invasion and Farmyard.

After over a decade, how does the game fare today? With cascading reels, an RTP of 96%, and medium volatility, Invaders from the Planet Moolah is still a very decent slot.

RTP and volatility of Invaders from the Planet Moolah

Invaders from the Planet Moolah has an RTP of 96%, which is in line with the industry average. As for the volatility of the slot, it falls into the medium category.

The RTP combined with medium volatility allows for decent payouts overall, even if they aren’t so frequent.

Payout facts

VolatilityMedium

The slot has 13 symbols which can fall anywhere across the five reels. Combinations of three, four, and five, starting from the leftmost reel, must land on any of the 25 paylines for a win. The highest-paying symbols are the Mixed symbols and the Jackpot symbol.

The Mixed symbols are a group of five symbols and landing any combination of these will result in a win. The Jackpot symbol is the highest-paying symbol. Five in a line results in a payout of $7.50. Although it is a jackpot symbol, the game has no jackpot feature.

Payouts rating

70/100 Low payouts and an average RTP
  • Good RTP to volatility ratio
  • Low average win

When I was playing the slot, it took a while for me to land any wins, and those that I did land were quite small. Landing three of the lowest-paying symbols pays out just $0.05, which is all I won sometimes.

Having 25 paylines active at the same time does increase your chances of landing a win. Also, if you land wins across multiple lines, those smaller wins are added together.

I would have liked to land a few more wins, but at least the medium volatility means the game pays out a bit more frequently.

Having the Jackpot as the highest-paying symbol is also a bit misleading, as there’s no grand prize or big win as you’d typically expect.

There are games out there that give higher payouts, but Invaders from the Planet Moolah takes off the edge that typically comes with a higher stakes game.

If you would like to play a game with much higher stakes, try out Finn and the Swirly Spin, with a max win of 5,000x your stake.

Stakes at Invaders from the Planet Moolah

The paytable below the grid allows players to adjust the bet per line and total bet to whatever they’re comfortable with. The bet per line ranges from $0.01–$5 and the total bet from $0.25–$125.

In terms of stakes, the biggest win a player can land is 750x their bet. This means that with a bet per line of 5 and a total bet of $25 if the player lands five Jackpots in a row, the payout will be $3,750.

If you adjust your bet and then refer to the paytable, you can see the values for each symbol have been adjusted accordingly to reflect the current bet configuration.

Stake limits rating

87/100 Decent bet range with lots of paylines
  • Good betting range
  • Low maximum win

With Invaders from the Planet Moolah, adjusting your bet could not be easier. It’s just two buttons to increase or decrease the bet per line.

I really appreciated how simple this was, as well as being able to refer back to the paytable for the adjusted payout values according to my current bet.

The betting range itself isn’t bad, but the highest possible bet is only $125, which won’t work for high-rollers. Again, this is ideal for newcomers or players who aren’t looking for a super serious game.

It gives them room to adjust their bet, and it doesn’t go too high. The 25 active paylines are essential to give the slot that extra push, especially when the max win is just 750x your stake.

Invaders from the Planet Moolah bonus features

When a spin results in a combination that lands a win, the winning symbols are removed from the grid, and the empty spaces are filled by cascading symbols. Landing four or more consecutive wins will trigger the Free Spins bonus game. Four cascades award seven free spins, but eight or more will award 50 free spins.

The Free Spins bonus game is the same as the slot’s base game, with a different background and a funky musical track to build the hype. Further free spins can also be won during the bonus game if four or more cascades are won.

These additional free spins are then used within that bonus game. The bonus game can also be triggered randomly at the end of a spin that doesn’t amount to any wins.

Bonus features rating

32/100 Big on free spins, limited on bonuses
  • Free spins can be retriggered
  • No Jackpot

This is an area of the game where things have been kept as clean and simple as possible. In some ways, I liked that.

Some games are so crammed with features, that it’s more like a video game than a slot. Sometimes, it’s nice to have a clean and classic slot.

However, it would also be nice to have a bit more going on. I found I kept on spinning to try and accumulate wins to trigger the Free Spins bonus game, to change things up.

There aren’t any other innovative or bonus features, which unfortunately did dock a few points for the slot.

With such a cool and creative theme, there definitely could have been room for one more additional feature.

Unfortunately, we’re seeing a feature that we’ve seen before.

Audiovisuals of Invaders from the Planet Moolah

When it comes to graphics and audio, Invaders from the Planet Moolah has a retro and whimsical vibe and is very much on theme. On top of the grid are five alien cows in flying saucers that bob up and down.

These are the invaders from the planet Moolah, who zap the symbols into oblivion when there’s a win. This comes with some minimal animation too as the cows’ faces are animated.

When it comes to music, the game only plays a music track during the bonus game. It’s a fast-paced, funky beat that creates hype during the bonus game, and it follows a long and loud siren and a flashing red button. Other than this, the base game has minor sound effects.

Audiovisuals rating

71/100 A slot straight out of the cartoons
  • Quirky and amusing graphics
  • No background music

The audiovisuals were my favorite part of this slot. They reminded me of the cartoons I’ve watched, which created a playful ambiance.

The graphics and audio are also an essential part of the storytelling of this slot.

Whereas in movies and TV, the cows are always abducted by the aliens, here, the alien cows are fighting back by zapping the farmyard and taking back the cows. It’s silly and amusing and is a major attraction for this slot.

There isn’t any music or a lot of ambient sound during the base game, which I did feel was lacking, but the slot builds a sense of anticipation when the bonus game is triggered.

The sound effects and music throughout feel like they’ve come straight out of a clichéd sci-fi movie, which is charming in its own way.

Invaders from the Planet Moolah game layout

When it comes to navigation, everything is clearly laid out and it’s straightforward for players to find what they’re looking for. The paytable adjusting to the bet configuration in real time is a useful feature that considers the player’s needs.

Turbo mode isn’t available with this slot however, which means it tends to move a bit slowly.

You can play the slot manually by clicking the spin button, or you can use the autoplay settings.

In autoplay you can customize how long your consecutive spins run for by first selecting the number of autospins, then choosing a loss limit, and finally a win limit. The loss and win limit adjust in real time according to your current bet.

The mobile version of the slot doesn’t work as smoothly. The game requires you to rotate your phone and play it in landscape and the buttons disappear. You need to drag them out of the side, but it takes time to find them.

Game layout rating

94/100 An intuitive slot layout, except on mobile
  • Adjustable Autoplay feature
  • Mobile version isn’t smooth

Overall, I found it really easy to get to grips with the slot. Everything is available in the paytable, game instructions and further information are easy to find, and the adjustable autospin is a big plus.

All you have to do in this slot really is just hit ‘spin.’ The lack of turbo spin does drag it out a little, so this isn’t a game for you if you want to move quickly.

I was also disappointed with the mobile version. Even though you need to rotate your phone and play horizontally, the game remains quite small so it’s not so easy to see what’s going on.

It also took me some time to find the spin, autoplay, and even instructions on mobile as they’re hidden off-screen. I didn’t feel it was as intuitive as it could have been.

Expert verdict

Overall, Invaders from the Planet Moolah offers US players a decent gaming experience. The cascading mechanic, ease of use, cute and quirky graphics, and betting range are not something unique.

However, their combination for this slot produces a game that’s light and easy to get to grips with, which is definitely attractive for newer players or more casual players who aren’t focused on high stakes and big wins.

Some games are more modern, in terms of mechanics and design, but Invaders from the Planet Moolah carries a nostalgic retro feeling that makes its storyline memorable.
