My Immortal Romance Vein of Gold slot review breaks down the slot’s RTP and volatility, along with its bonus features, symbols, and their payouts. At the end of the review, I’ll also explain how the slot’s mechanics work and how to play.

RTP and volatility

The Immortal Romance Vein of Gold slot RTP is 96%, but it’s 96.25% when you use the bonus buy feature. It’s got high volatility and is played on a 6×4 grid, with 4,096 ways to win.

As far as slot RTPs go, 96% is fine and in line with the industry average. That boost to 96.25% is attractive too, and not far off from the RTP on Immortal Romance 2, which is 96.30%.

Having an RTP of 96% or more balances out the slot’s very high volatility. Based on my experience, in fact, I felt the game played out more like a medium volatility slot, so I was surprised that Stormcraft Studios labeled it as very high.

Bonus features

There are nine bonus features on the Immortal Romance Vein of Gold slot. This includes Wilds, re-spins, multipliers, and even jackpots. There’s even the Vein of Gold and collection features.

Wild

The Wild symbol is the Immortal Romance logo. It substitutes for all symbols, except for the Scatter, Cash symbol, and the Collect symbols. The Wild appears on reels 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 in the base game, and on reels 2, 3, and 4 in free spins.

Collect Feature

The collect symbol, which is the drop of blood, appears on reels 1 and 6, both in the base game and in Vein of Gold. Cash symbols appear on all reels. When a collect symbol and at least one cash symbol appear together on the reels, the value on the cash symbols is collected and added to the total win of the spin. 

Base game cash symbols range from 0.2x to 20x your bet, while in the Vein of Gold feature, it’s 0.2x to 100x your bet. If no collect symbol is present, the cash symbols contribute to the jackpots.

Bonus Choice

When three or more Scatters land on the reels, they trigger the Bonus Choice feature. Players will need to choose whether they want to play a round of free spins or to play the Vein of Gold feature.

Free Spins

When the free spins start to play out, a multiplier of either 2x, 3x, or 5x will be awarded for every Wild symbol that forms part of a winning line. This will multiply the total win from every spin. Cash and collect symbols don’t appear during a free spins round.

Vein of Gold

During this feature, only the collect, collect retrigger, retrigger, and cash symbols appear. All other reel positions are left blank. With the Vein of Gold feature, a collect symbol is guaranteed to land on reel 1 with every spin. It can also land on reel 6 and collect the cash values from any cash symbols that appear.

The collect retrigger symbol and the retrigger symbol will appear on reel 6, awarding all landed cash symbol values and one additional Vein of Gold spin.

During a Vein of Gold round, the cash symbol values are higher than during the base game. There’s also a bonus multiplier that multiplies every total win.

Bonus Buy

The bonus buy feature can be used to trigger the bonus choice, allowing you to choose a round of free spins or a round of Vein of Gold. Buying three Scatters costs 45x your current bet, for four it’s 75x, five is 120x, and six is 180x.

Re-spin feature

A re-spin is awarded when a collect symbol lands on reels 1 and 6, with no cash symbols and the bonus choice feature isn’t triggered. Reels 1 and 6 will lock, while reels 2-5 will re-spin with cash symbols and blank positions. At least one cash symbol is guaranteed to land, awarding you with that value. This feature can’t be retriggered and is only available in the base game.

Rising Rewards Jackpot Feature

There are four fixed-value jackpots available: Mini, Minor, Major, and Mega. To accumulate a token to contribute to the jackpots, at least one cash symbol needs to land on the reels without a collect symbol. The cash symbol then becomes a token, which increases the jackpot values. Depending on how many tokens you get, 1-4 jackpots will be increased in value by 0.1x-1x the bet.

• 1 token collected = 1 jackpot increased
• 2-5 tokens collected = 1-2 jackpots increased
• 6-15 tokens collected = 2-3 jackpots increased
• 16-24 tokens collected = 3-4 jackpots increased

Collecting tokens grants the chance to trigger the jackpot feature in the base game, with at least one jackpot being awarded, with the value being reset afterwards. These are the starting jackpot values on a bet of $1:

• Mini starts at $5, with a max of $25
• Minor starts at $10, with a max of $50
• Major starts at $100, with a max of $250
• Mega starts at $1,000, with a max of $2,500

Rising Rewards Bonus Multiplier

The bonus multiplier meter is displayed above the jackpots. This feature increases in the base game, applying a multiplier to every win in the free spins and Vein of Gold features. The bonus multiplier increases by 0.5x when two Scatters land in the base game on reels 1-5. The maximum multiplier that can be accumulated is 5x. After a free spins or Vein of Gold round is completed, the multiplier resets to 1x.

Bonus features are something I always expect to find with an Immortal Romance slot, and this one didn’t disappoint in this regard. Jackpots, re-spins, free spins, cash collections, and Vein of Gold are all features that have the potential to be pretty lucrative.

The features definitely help to make up for the low average wins on this game. In one round of Vein of Gold on a bet of $50, I won $4,120. Another time it was $1,085. The jackpots will take time to trigger, but with a max bet of $50, you could win up to $125,000 with the Mega jackpot.

The most commonly occurring feature is the collect feature. You can use the bonus buy to jump to a round of free spins or Vein of Gold, but otherwise, landing three Scatters organically isn’t such a common occurrence.

Symbols and paytable

There are 11 paying symbols on Immortal Romance Vein of Gold, and surprisingly, this is the first slot in the series where the Wild and Scatter don’t have their own payout values. However, with this slot, you can be paid out with up to six symbols, not five.

The lowest-paying symbols are the J, Q, K, and A. On a bet of $1, the J and Q award a payout of $0.20 for three symbols. For five, you’ll get $0.80, and for six it’s $1. The K and A pay out $0.20 more on average, so at the same bet of $1, three symbols are worth $0.40 and six are worth $1.20.

The middle range symbols are the fountain, the gate, and the book. The fountain and the gate have the same payouts, another $0.20 increase from the last symbols. $0.60 for three symbols on a bet of $1, $1.20 for five, and $1.40 for six.

The book symbol, however, has a slightly bigger increase of $0.40. It’s also the first symbol in the game that requires just two for a win. With a bet of $1, you’ll get $0.20 for two, $0.80 for three, and then for six symbols it’s $2.

The four character symbols are the highest paying symbols in the game: Amber, Troy, Michael, and Sarah. Amber has the same payout values as the book symbol, while Troy and Michael have the same payouts, awarding $2.60 for six symbols on a bet of $1.

The highest-paying symbol in the game is Sarah. Two symbols award $1 on a bet of $1, but for five it’s $2.60, and for six it’s $5. On the maximum bet of $50, it’s a payout of $250. The maximum win potential on the Immortal Romance Vein of Gold slot is 5,500x your bet.

The average wins on Immortal Romance Vein of Gold are very similar to Avalon III, where its lowest symbols awarded $1 for five on a bet of $1, however, with the maximum bet, you got $500 for five of its highest symbol. Sarah’s symbol only awards a maximum of $250, half the payout for six symbols.

On Immortal Romance 2, the game that came out before this one, the maximum payout was lower, but so was the max bet. With a max bet of $20, you’d get $90 for five of the highest-paying symbols. With the Vein of Gold slot, on a bet of $20, you’ll get $52 for five Sarah symbols, which is much lower, although with the extra sixth symbol, you’ll get $100.

What was different was that the Wild and Scatter were the highest paying symbols of that game, awarding $100 and $500 respectively. This is the first Immortal Romance slot I’ve come across where the Wild and Scatter didn’t have their own payouts, which although it isn’t a rule, it was a contributing factor to these games having lucrative and more frequent payouts. As a result, the max win is lower, from 15,000x to 5,500x.

How to play Immortal Romance Vein of Gold

Press the spin button to get things going. On the left of the spin button, there’s the maximum bet button. On the right, there’s the autoplay button. There are no additional autoplay settings, but you can have between 10 and 100 autospins.

On the left of the max bet button, there’s the bet button. It displays your current bet, and you can use the plus and minus buttons to increase or decrease your bet. If you click your current bet value, it will open up the quick bet options, starting at $0.20, $0.40, $0.50, $0.60, $0.80, and $1. These continue in $0.50 increments until $3, where the bets start to get bigger: $4, $5, $5, $7.50, $8, $10, $12.50, $15. This continues until the max bet of $50.

Your current balance is on the left of the bet button, and in the left corner, there’s the menu button. Here you have a button for autoplay, betting, settings for volume, the paytable, and help. The paytable provides all the payouts for the symbols, along with brief explanations of the bonus features, but you can go to the help for a more detailed breakdown.

Expert verdict

This is a slot I’d recommend for fans of bonus features, especially if you’re looking to break away from the four variants of free spins found in the classic Immortal Romance slots. In terms of player skill, high-rollers might find this one a bit of a let-down given the low average payouts and lower max win potential.

The bonus features are the shining star of this slot, and there’s so much going on. I’m glad to see that, despite so many features, they don’t interfere with one another or overwhelm the game. The collections feature appears most frequently and offers decent rewards, making up for how long the others might take to trigger.

The slot RTP is good and well-balanced at 96%, but the high volatility will mean your wins could be further apart and less frequent. With 4,096 ways to win, though, there’s a higher hit rate at play, which is always a plus.
