Dazzle Me Megaways is NetEnt’s bigger take on its old gem slot. You still get the diamonds, bells, sevens, gems, and soft neon colors from the first Dazzle Me, with a larger reel setup around it.

In this Dazzle Me Megaways slot review, I’m looking at the old NetEnt idea with bigger reels, falling symbols, and a bonus round that may take a little patience.

The Dazzle Me Megaways slot review summary

The Dog House Muttley Crew moves Pragmatic Play’s dog slot series onto a 5×5 Cluster Pays grid. Wins come from 5 or more matching symbols connected across the grid, so there are no fixed paylines or adjustable lines. RTP is 96.50% on the main version, with lower operator settings also available. Volatility is high, the max win is 7,500x, and the bet range usually runs from $0.20 to $240.

The slot uses pirate versions of the Dog House characters, plus bones, card symbols, paw print Scatters, and treasure chest Wilds. The Wilds can land with 2x, 3x, 5x, or 10x multipliers, and their values are added together when more than one Wild helps the same cluster.

Free Spins need 3 or more paw print Scatters. The feature starts with 10, 15, or 20 Free Spins, depending on whether 3, 4, or 5 Scatters land. During Free Spins, Wilds stay on the grid, and extra Scatter overlays can add more spins to the round. A Bonus Buy is available in some versions, with 10, 15, or 20 Free Spins available for 100x, 250x, or 500x the bet.

Dazzle Me Megaways comprehensive review

For this Dazzle Me Megaways slot review, I’ll go through the Megaways setup, RTP, volatility, max win, and bet range first. After that, I’ll cover the Wilds, Free Spins, Avalanche wins, and bonus round, using what I noticed while playing.

RTP and volatility

Dazzle Me Megaways has an RTP of 96.10% and medium volatility. It uses a Megaways setup, so there are no regular paylines to adjust.

Time2play Expert Analysis

This one took a few spins before I got into it. The screen is busy right away, with the reels changing size and symbols dropping after wins, so I had to play a bit before the game started making sense.

The base game was hit and miss, to be honest. Some spins ended fast, others got better when a diamond Wild landed. The drops were useful when they gave my spins another chance after a small win.

The game is easy once you get used to the reel changes. The 96.10% RTP is good and the medium volatility felt right. Some spins were plain, some had a few drops, and Free Spins gave the game the boost it needed. Next to the original Dazzle Me, this version felt more busy and, naturally, had a lot more room for bigger hits.

Bonus features

Dazzle Me Megaways has Avalanche wins, diamond Wilds, Dazzling Wild Reels, Free Spins, and Wild counters during the bonus round.

Avalanche wins apply after each winning combination. The winning symbols are removed from the reels, and new symbols fall into the empty spaces. Extra wins can form from the new drop within the same paid spin.

Free Spins start when 4 or more Free Spins symbols land. Four symbols award 8 Free Spins. Each additional triggering symbol adds 4 more Free Spins, so 5 symbols award 12 Free Spins and 6 symbols award 16 Free Spins.

During Free Spins, each reel has a Wild counter that starts at 2. When Wilds on a reel takes part in winning combinations, the counter for that reel can increase. When the counter reaches the required level, that reel becomes a full Wild Reel for the rest of the bonus round.

Time2play Expert Analysis

As expected, I got more from the bonus than from regular spins. The base game had a few nice moments when the drops kept going, mainly if a diamond Wild landed around the middle reels. Some spins ended fast, so the Wilds had to somehow compensate for that.

Free Spins looked better once the counters started moving. I was mostly checking which reel was closest, then hoping another Wild would land there before the round was out. It’s pretty simple, yes, and that helped me. I didn’t need to pause and read anything again.

The feature round can still go quiet if the Wilds miss, which happened a few times. When the counters moved early, the whole bonus felt more interesting. When they barely moved, it was just eight spins and done. That may sound obvious, but because it is, yet that’s really how this slot played for me.

Time2play Expert Analysis

The paytable isn’t so bad at all and it’s easy to get. The gems were the small-win symbols for me, mostly little returns. The bell paid better, and the lucky 7 was the regular symbol I wanted most because it can pay from 2 matches.

On a $20 bet, 2 lucky 7s already pay $20, so that symbol had more value during normal spins than the gems. The lower symbols still showed up a lot, of course.

The diamond Wild was the one that changed the spin most often for me. If it landed around reels 3 or 4, the result usually had a better chance of connecting across the grid. In Free Spins, I took it more seriously because it also fed the reel counters. After three rounds, I knew what I was looking at without opening the paytable again.

Expert verdict

Dazzle Me Megaways is one of those slots I’d keep when I want something familiar and easy on the brain. It has the classic NetEnt vibe, the gem symbols, the casino feel, the quick little wins, and then the Megaways setup gives it a bit more fire than the theme suggests.

Of course, it can get dry between the better spins, which I personally saw during testing. The game looks lively, although the actual money moments still come in short bursts.

I wouldn’t necessarily call it a must-play Megaways slot. I’d call it a decent upgrade of a simple NetEnt idea that works. It is easy to sit with, easy to understand, and better when the bonus starts early enough to give the player a boost.

I’d return to it when I want a solid Megaways slot with a shiny casino look. Players looking for a loud bonus machine may get bored. If you, however, like NetEnt’s older style and want a bigger version of that formula, you’ll probably get more from it.
