With an RTP% of over 96%, higher volatility plus progressive jackpots at select US casinos — it’s easy to see why this video slot is popular among players looking for big wins.

But beyond those great stats, how does Divine Fortune slot machine measure up? Just how much can you win for each spin? What about in-game bonuses like wilds and free spins? Are the graphics up to date? More than anything, is it fun to play?

The best Divine Fortune casinos & where to claim your free spins bonus

Who are the best Divine Fortune casinos in the US? Most of the best online casinos and sweeps cash casinos we’ve rated host this popular slot. But, having said that, no operator we’ve rated distinguishes itself by offering a free spins welcome bonus specifically for Divine Fortune.

However, there are other differences between operators, beyond Divine Fortune free spins, like offering megaways versions of the game, that make some stand out from the rest.

Mainly though, we’re looking for Divine Fortune slot sites that offer the best quality experience of playing this classic NetEnt slot. Want to find out who made the top 3? Read on.

All three casinos offer something special for fans of Divine Fortune slot. Although Golden Nugget got the top spot, BetMGM and SugarHouse are both strong contenders for the crown. Both feature Divine Fortune on their main page (so it’s slightly easier to find the game than at Golden Nugget).

SugarHouse offers 100% up to $250, and the best wagering requirements of all three (1x playthrough). Lower wagering requirements mean you can get ahold of your Divine Fortune slot winnings as real money sooner.

Golden Nugget got the top spot for two reasons though: first, its commitment to transparent information on RTP% and volatility and bet limits. Second, you can play Megaways and the original version of the Divine Fortune slot without downloading. We also mentioned Pala online casino as, apart from having both versions of Divine Fortune, they also offer a $25 no-deposit online casino bonus as part of their welcome bonus.

Divine Fortune slot payouts: volatility & RTP%

Payouts facts

CategoryDetails
RTP96.59%
Maximum win600x
Highest-paying symbolMedusa
VolatilityMed-to-high

The Divine Fortune slot has an RTP of 96.59%, which is slightly above average for a video slot. The max win of 600x per spin just beats out other NetEnt classics like Starburst slot (500x per spin). But that’s a lower max win compared to other NetEnt games like Gonzo’s Quest (2500x) and Bloodsuckers (1014.6x).

Landing 5 Medusa symbols across the reels can bag you 600x per stake, and you can trigger the jackpot bonus round if you land 3 golden bonus coins. That’s when things get even more interesting — with the possibility of going into a mega jackpot round, where you can win up to six figures. In 2019 a lucky player managed to take home $306,051 at the Golden Nugget NJ.

Payouts rating

86/100 You can win a (divine) fortune
  • Mega jackpot bonus round
  • Volatility not suited to new players

Every slot fan likes to see an above-average RTP%, but Divine Fortune only just beats the rest at 96.59%. And that stat, along with the medium-to-high variance,  is important to consider if you’re a new player betting small. You might end up losing more than you win in a short space of time.

What about the game itself? In ancient mythology, Medusa is the last person you want to meet on a cold rainy night in Athens (unless you want to get turned into stone). In Divine Fortune, however, she’s the highest paying symbol; if Medusa lands 5 times across the reels, she’s your ticket to some big wins.

What if we compared it to that other classic, medium-to-high variance NetEnt slot, Gonzo’s Quest? The RTP% is roughly the same, sure, but Gonzo’s highest winning symbol knocks it out of the park.  Line up 5 of the blue and gold mask symbols and you can win a massive x2500 per stake. Compare it to poor Medusa, who at x600 is the highest paying symbol in the Divine Fortune slot machine.

But why is it so popular when other games have better stats? In my opinion, Divine Fortune still pulls in players for one big reason: the jackpot bonus round. Six-figure wins are up for grabs. Sounds good, right?

These wins aren’t theoretical either. Some of the biggest video slot wins in the US have been via this game. I don’t know about you, but when I read headlines like: “N.J. woman wins $287K gambling online during work conference call” (from NJ.com), my curiosity is piqued.

Sure, I know the odds are stacked against me (the house always wins, etc). But one can dream. The potential to win big makes me want to don my armor and scale the walls of Troy like the ancient Greek heroes of old. Or settle in my armchair and take the slot for a few spins. Same thing.

Divine Fortune stake limits: how much can you bet and win?

Stakes facts

CategoryDetails
Minimum bet$0.20
Maximum bet$100
Adjustable paylinesNo
Bet per line$0.01
Buy featureFree Spins, Falling Wilds Re-Spins and Expanding Wilds

Divine Fortune has something for new and seasoned players when it comes to stakes. Want to start small? You can with a minimum bet of $0.20. High rollers will be happy (but probably not over the moon) with a max bet that’s set at $100. As a bet range that matches up pretty much exactly with Gonzo’s Quest.

How does that translate to the Divine Fortune slot machine gameplay? When you fire up the game, you can select a bet level from 1 to 10. You can then pick a coin value between 00.1 and 0.50 (this translates to $20 to $100). Select a bet level between 1 and 10 and choose a coin value between 0.01 and 0.50 to spin with a total stake of something between 0.20 and 100.00. Your stake will be spread over the (non-adjustable) 20 paylines.

Stake limits rating

80/100 Decent bet range — not amazing, but not bad
  • Max bet similar to other NetEnt games
  • Bet range could be better

When it comes to stakes the Divine Fortune slot machine isn’t anything to write home about. There are NetEnt slots, like Double Stack, that offer a better bet range than $0.20 – $100.00. On the low end, Starburst goes down to $0.10, which might be more tempting for new players. There are also plenty of games by other studios like Astronomical Magic by Konami that go up to $450 for a max bet.

I feel like the medium-to-high volatility and the bonus options (see above) are the things that make Divine Fortune special — especially when it comes to winning cold hard cash. Ignore the bet limits, which are almost identical to Gonzo’s Quest, and focus on max wins — this is a game for players who want to bet big(ish) and win big.

Divine Fortune bonus features

The Divine Fortune bonus features are where the game really dazzles. To get into the free spins round you’ll need to land 3, 4, or 5 symbols — you’ll get 5, 8, or 12 spins as a reward. Aside from the free spins round, and the jackpot bonus round, the Divine Fortune slot features falling wilds and wild-on-wild. Keep your eyes peeled for the Pegasus symbol, that’s your wild, and it substitutes for all other symbols on all 20 potential paylines. Want to know how to trigger these features? Read on.

Landing the scatter symbol — Zeus clenching a bolt of lightning —  3 times across the reels will trigger the free spins round. To get into the bonus round you’ll need to land 3 or more gold coins (each coin grants instant payouts of up to x200 your stake).

What about the falling wilds and the wild-on-wild features? With falling wilds, if Pegasus, the wild symbol, forms a winning combo it’ll drop down and allow new symbols to fall into place. With new symbols falling down it means more winning combos are possible.

The wild on wild feature is only possible after the falling wild respin. If one of the symbols that falls into place happens to be another Pegasus that’ll trigger the wild on wild feature. After this, the wild symbol expands to cover the entire reel and all bet wins are awarded for that spin — that’s when players can expect a fat payout.

Bonus features rating

89/100 Divine bonuses will keep you coming back
  • The wild-on-wild feature
  • Wild-on-wild can only be triggered after falling wilds

Divine Fortune’s biggest strength is its bonus features. It’s the thing that keeps me coming back for more. Not only can you get free spins, but you can also trigger falling wilds, wild-on-wild, and a jackpot bonus game (that can lead to a mega jackpot game). When it comes to bonus features, the slot compares well with NetEnt’s other classic, Gonzo’s Quest, which has fewer standout bonus features.

The Divine Fortune slot can sometimes feel like you’re slowly being squeezed of cash. I’ve gone almost 7 spins without winning a thing. It could make a new player want to give up. Well, until you see the Pegasus, the hand of Zeus clasping the lightning bolt, or the gold coins line up.

That’s when the fun begins. Falling wilds? Look on with glee as a Pegasus drop down as a free spin is triggered. Wild on wild? After a falling wild respin if a wild lands on a wild symbol, you’ll see it expand to cover the entire reel.

The jackpot bonus round, which you get to after landing at least 3 coins, is something else. There you’ll find yourself in the golden halls of the gods. With 15 independent reels, you have the chance to win one of three jackpots. Get 3 bonus symbols and you’ll win the minor jackpot. Score two entire rows filled with bonus symbols and you’ll get the major jackpot. Get all three rows filled with bonus symbols and you’ll win the mega progressive jackpot.

I don’t know about you, but the prospect of all those juicy bonus features wins makes me want to go back and play the Divine Fortune slot right now.

Divine Fortune slot machine: the audio-visuals

The Divine Fortune slot draws on the classical world of Ancient Greece with its gods and mythical creatures. The graphics and audio may be from 2017 but they still hold up today. As you spin, watch embers from the burning fire float up to the ceiling, casting a shadow over statues of Greek goddesses, while ambient music echoes in the background.

When bonus features are triggered you’ll enjoy animations with obvious references to classic Greek art, literature, and mythology. But there’s a tinge of the big hair 80s fantasy movie about the slot, too (think The Neverending Story or Conan the Barbarian) — especially when the Pegasus expands after the wild on wild feature is triggered.

The ambient soundscape, with its echoey synths, adds to the feeling you’re back in the ancient world. These chilled sounds are occasionally interrupted with dramatic shifts in mood and tone. As with the graphics, the music and effects are always crystal clear and of high quality — and if it gets too much there’s always the mute button.

Audiovisuals rating

79/100 Great soundscapes, visuals not as impressive
  • The wild animations
  • The ambient sound effects
  • No 3D animations

Whether you dig the Divine Fortune audiovisuals is really up to you. Everything runs smoothly so it’s really all a matter of taste. Fans of Troy and 300 (and I count myself among them) will probably fall for this game faster than Zeus can send a lightning bolt down from Mount Olympus.

If the age of discovery (and conquest) is more your thing, then Gonzo’s Quest might be for you. I have to say, even though I prefer the theme of Divine Fortune, Gonzo has more advanced graphics. A nicely rendered 3D Gonzo on one side and a gushing Aztec water feature on the other definitely look better than two stationary statues that frame the Divine Fortune game.

However, if we look ahead, which game will date faster? My bet is that Divine Fortune will stand the test of time, and Gonzo’s Quest will look dated. The 3D animation looks good now, but think about Marvel movies that are more than a decade old. The CGI has already started to look passé. The same will apply to Gonzo’s Quest.

Divine Fortune keeps it simple with beautifully illustrated symbols, accompanied by lowkey sound effects, and a soundtrack that transports you back to the ancient world.

Divine Fortune slot layout

The Divine Fortune slot layout of 5 x 3 reels and 20 paylines is pretty standard for NetEnt (and video slots as a whole). The slot is very easy to navigate, with all the info you need, displayed in a clear way. Want to set the bet level? You can set the coin value from 0.10 to 0.50. You can check your cash levels, how much you’re betting in dollars, and how much you win (after each spin) underneath.

Click on the info button (“i”) to find out about the payout value of each symbol, and all possible winning paylines. You’ll also find more information on falling wilds, wild on wilds, as well as free spins and jackpot bonus rounds.

The autoplay feature is similar to other slots by NetEnt, with spins available in increments of 10-1000. You can set win and loss limits in USD, as well as setting limits if a single win exceeds a certain amount. You can even set autoplay to stop if you luck out and enter the free spins round.

Overall, the layout is easy to navigate and use, so it’s well set up for new players to get spinning straight away.

Game layout rating

85/100 The Divine Fortune game is (almost) ideal for new players
  • Easy-to-navigate
  • Some info is hard to find

Divine Fortune is definitely one of the most easy-to-navigate slots I’ve ever played. And I’ve played a lot. Bet limits, coin values, autoplay function, everything you want to know is all there. If you want to know the value of symbols, winning paylines, and how to trigger the bonus and free spins rounds, you can get to it in a few clicks (or taps if you’re on mobile).

The only thing that’s lacking for me is the fact that info like theoretical RTP% is buried in a long scroll of text. Now, that crucial info is displayed on some online gambling sites like Golden Nugget NJ, but I’d like it to be more clearly displayed while I’m playing. At least it could be one of the first things you see after clicking the “?” button.

All in all, as with the majority of NetEnt titles, the Divine Fortune slot is user friendly. More importantly, new players can access most of the information in a few clicks. That’s got to be a good thing.

Expert verdict: Would we play the Divine Fortune slot again?

82/100 — By Zeus, yes!

Unless you’re put off by ancient gods, monsters, and mythical creatures, you’re gonna really enjoy playing Divine Fortune again and again. When it comes to graphics and audio quality this game is solid. The only thing that lets it down, for me, is the lack of fun animation in between bonus rounds. That would help keep me entertained until my next win.

On that point, the strength of the game has got to be the bonus features. Falling wilds, wild on wild, scatter, and the bonus round — these aren’t just pretty little ornaments that’ll keep you enthralled as you’re playing. Trigger these, and you could be in for winning some serious cash. In 6 spins (on demo, I hasten to add) I managed to lose five hundred bucks and then win $2575. That’s quite a nice profit. I’m kicking myself for not putting some real money down.

That said, the small(ish) max bets might put off a mid-level player, who wants to progress into high roller territory. Other, lesser-known, studios like Everi and Konami offer games like Double Patriot and Astronomical Magic with max bets of $250 and $450 and max payouts in the mid-six-figures.

Most US casinos rightly feature Divine Fortune in their lobbies. Why? It’s easy to play for newbies, with all the information about symbols, bonus rounds, and paylines readily displayed. It’s also smooth to play. If you’re an experienced player who’s after big wins, it’s got you covered, too.

Would I play it another time? Heck yes. Despite not winning as much as I’d like, as often as I’d like — I would happily take Divine Fortune for a spin again and again.

  • Six-figure progressive jackpot
  • Excellent audiovisual effects
  • Easy-to-play for users of all levels
  • Low max bet per spin ($100)
  • In-game info could be easier to access
