Giant symbols
On reels 2, 3, and 4, there’s the chance for all high-paying symbols and the Wild to land as giant symbols. They’ll be 3×3 symbols, occupying 9 symbol positions.
Wild
The Wild symbol, which is represented as a “W”, can substitute for all symbols except for the Scatter. This completes paylines to form a winning combination, but can also award its own payout values.
Scatter and free spins
The Scatter symbol is the Gods and Giants logo. When a full-sized symbol lands on reels 2, 3, and 4, this will trigger a round of free spins. You’ll be awarded eight free spins where all of the symbols that land on reels 2, 3, and 4 are giant symbols. Those on reels 1 and 5 are stacked symbols. The character and Wild symbols will replace all the lower-paying symbols to create higher win opportunities. Free spins can be retriggered.
Giant re-spins
If a full-sized giant symbol lands on reels 2, 3, and 4, and it’s not part of a win, this will trigger a re-spin. During which, the giant symbol has the chance to move to the left or right, or to stay in place. The other two reels will re-spin for the chance to create a winning combination. The reels will re-spin if matching symbols continue to land on the reels.
Power Nudge
If a giant symbol lands on just one or two rows from the three middle reels, there’s a chance the Power Nudge feature will be triggered to push the symbol to cover a bigger part of the reels. The nudge can come from the top or bottom of the grid.
Progressive jackpots
The Age of Gods series is known for its progressive jackpots, which are triggered at random and award one of three possible jackpots to the chosen winner. These are the daily jackpot, the instant jackpot, and the ultimate jackpot. A contribution of 2.11% is taken from every bet placed. The jackpots aren’t available when playing in demo mode.
Although it sounds like this is a lot of bonus features, this isn’t a fast-paced slot, like say Reactoonz, where bonus features are constantly re-triggered and build on each other. In fact, I initially found the slot to be slow-moving when it came to handing out bonus features.
Still, I was able to experience all of the bonus features, except for the jackpots, within my first hour of testing the slot, so they do occur and not that infrequently. What’s great about these bonus features is that they have the potential to be pretty lucrative.
With the Power Nudge, for instance, on a bet of $5, I managed a win of $134 because a giant symbol was knocked into place to fill the middle reels. At the same bet, I had a successful free spins round where I won $267.50. The giant re-spin is the only feature that wasn’t fruitful for me, but since the reels spin until you run out of matching symbols, there’s a chance you might get a decent win.

Symbols and paytable
There are 11 paying symbols in the Age of the Gods Norse: Gods and Giants slot, including the Wild. The five lowest-paying symbols are the letters F, H, M, O, and W from the Norse alphabet. The F, H, and M pay out the lowest in the game, awarding a payout of 5x the line bet for three of a kind and 25x the line bet for five of a kind.
To break that down further, if your bet is $1, that means the line bet is $0.02. Landing three of a kind means you’ll get a payout of $0.10, and for five, it’s $0.50.
The O and W Norse runes have the same payout values, except when it’s four of a kind. Here, it’s a payout of 15x the line bet, instead of 10x.
What follows are the three giants: the purple, the red, and the green. The purple giant can payout 10x the line bet for three symbols, and 40x for five symbols. The red giant also pays out 10x for three symbols, but then awards a payout of 50x the line bet for five symbols.

Thor’s symbol will award a payout of 20x for three symbols, which jumps to a payout of 80x when you’ve got five of a kind. Odin’s symbol, however, awards a payout of 100x the line bet for five symbols.
The Wild is the highest paying symbol in the game, and the only symbol that can award a win with just two symbols. This gives you a payout of 10x the line bet, but with three symbols, that payout is 50x. If you manage to get five Wilds on the reels, the payout is 1,000x the line bet. If your total bet is $1, then that’s a payout of $20.
If you’re playing at maximum bet, your line bet would be $6. That means your payout for five Wilds would be $6,000.
The Age of the Gods Norse: Gods and Giants slot has pretty good payouts overall. The average payouts when playing with a smaller bet are not great, though. $0.10 for three symbols on a bet of $1 is pretty low. Compared with Avalon III, where you’ll get $0.20 for three and a whole $1 for five.
That being said, Avalon III had very low payouts. Its highest paying symbol would only pay out $500 on maximum bet, so Age of the Gods Norse slot blows it out of the water with its $6,000 max payout.
The 50 paylines also contribute to bigger wins, since they tend to add up. When I played on a bet of $5, I had wins from $0.50-$9.50, and even some bigger wins of $42.50 thanks to Wilds and giant symbols.

The bet range starts low at $0.20, which is always good, and it has a pretty high max bet of $300, which should work well for high-rollers. Those 50 paylines also help create wins across multiple lines, especially if a giant symbol is involved.
From a bonus features perspective, there’s plenty going on, but you may need to be a little patient.
