Black Diamond Platinum slot review

The Black Diamond Platinum slot is another gem in the Black Diamond series, with an RTP of 95.95%, medium volatility, and a maximum win of 5,000x.
When it comes to bonus features, players can also enjoy Wilds, multipliers, four progressive jackpots, and the introduction of free spins thanks to Everi’s Platinum Spins feature. If you want to see how this slot stacks up against its sisters, my Black Diamond Platinum slot review has the low-down.

Highlights
Expert verdict
Everi’s Black Diamond Platinum slot doesn’t offer a lot more than the other slots in the series, although its bonus features are certainly stronger. Black Diamond Platinum brought free spins to the table, which were seriously lacking previously. The Platinum Spins feature is a welcome addition, although it only awards three free spins, which is a letdown.
On the other hand, when Platinum Spins is triggered, this also activates the Platinum Jackpots, which can be won on the maximum bet, or alternatively if not playing at max bet, results in higher payouts from the Black Diamond symbol, taking the maximum payout from 2,000 to 5,000 credits. That being said, landing three Black Diamond symbols is still unlikely.
The slot’s RTP is 95.95%, which is just below average. Paired with the slots medium volatility, however, the slot pays out fairly frequently. The payouts are good, but I was expecting them to be higher, with the average payouts more or less identical to the original slot.
The bet range is also limited at $2.25–$6.75. It’s a high minimum for low-budget players and a low maximum for high-rollers. It’s great that the maximum bet is accessible, especially when it’s required to trigger the jackpots, but it leaves the slot with no room for growth. At minimum $2.25 a spin, just 5 spins will cost $11.25, and it’s not guaranteed you’ll make it back.
Everi has also retained the retro visuals, which is one of the areas I feel there was room for development. The Platinum Spins add some jazz to the game, but otherwise it’s fairly monotone in terms of audiovisuals. A background track would help to add some life to this slot, making it more engaging overall.
- Engaging Free Spins
- Four potential jackpots
- Medium volatility
- Jackpots only active on max bet
- Only three free spins awarded
- Bet range of $2.25–$6.75
Where to play Black Diamond Platinum
If you’re looking for somewhere to try Black Diamond Platinum, there are many online casinos that carry the Black Diamond series. BetMGM is one of my recommendations, but check out these other options.

Black Diamond Platinum slot RTP and volatility
The Black Diamond Platinum slot RTP is 95.95% with medium volatility. It has nine paylines with a maximum payout of 5,000x when playing with Platinum Spins.
The symbols on this slot are the single bars, double bars, red sevens, yellow double sevens, blue triple sevens, and the Black Diamond logo.
Category | Details |
---|---|
RTP | 95.95% |
Maximum win | 5,000x |
Highest-paying symbol | Black Diamond logo |
Volatility | Medium |
When the bet is set to the minimum of $2.25, landing any three bars pays out at 3 credits, while landing any three of the sevens awards a payout of 10 credits. At the same bet, landing three double bars awards a payout of 20 credits, while landing three blue triple sevens pays out 100 credits.
The highest-paying symbol in the game is the Black Diamond logo. This symbol functions as a Wild and substitutes for all symbols except multipliers and the Platinum Spins symbol.
When playing at less than max bet, flat prizes are awarded when three of this symbol land on either paylines 1–8 or payline 9. The payout is 2,000 credits on payline 9, while it’s 200 credits on paylines 1–8.
Payouts rating
- Improved hit rate
- Decent average payouts
- Lower maximum payout
- 9 paylines
Although Black Diamond Platinum has an RTP that’s just below average at 95.95%, it has a better hit rate and I felt I landed wins more frequently, despite the stepped layout. According to Everi’s site, Black Diamond Platinum has a volatility of ‘3’ which is higher than Black Diamond. Although this means the volatility is closer to medium, I had more wins on average.
That being said, the payouts didn’t match up to my expectations. When three Black Diamond symbols land on payline 9, the payout is 4,000 credits in Black Diamond Deluxe and 5,000 in Black Diamond. In Black Diamond Platinum, when Platinum Spins aren’t activated, the payout is just 2,000, which in comparison to both slots is a lot lower.
The rest of the payouts are the same as Black Diamond, which makes the average payouts quite good. I was hoping they’d be better than the original slot since this is a sequel, but at least they’re not less.
The maximum payout is a bit disappointing. The 5,000x payout can only be won be Platinum Spins is triggered. This makes it quite unlikely as it means first triggering Platinum Spins followed by three Black Diamond symbols, which almost never land together, since there are just nine paylines and only two symbols can land on a reel at once.
To compare, Immortal Romance 2 has 243 ways to win and a maximum win of 15,000x, while also having plenty more bonus features. Although it’s a high volatility slot, it has an agreeable RTP of 96.30%.
Black Diamond Platinum slot stakes
The bet range on Black Diamond Platinum is $2.25–$6.75. You can adjust the bet by increasing the multiplier from 1–3. The bet is then multiplied by the nine paylines. There are three betting options: $2.25, $4.50, and $6.75.
On its site, Everi mentions the following bet denoms: $0.05, $0.10, $0.25, $1, and $5. Despite this, it’s unclear if the bet denoms can be changed. I worked with Everi’s demo version, which had limited betting options and a permanent bet denom of $0.25.

The multipliers of 1, 2, and 3 allow for three betting options: $2.25, $4.50, and $6.75.
Everi states that the slot has the following denoms available: $0.05, $0.10, $0.25, $1.00, and $5.00. However, it’s unclear if these can be adjusted. I worked with the demo version on Everi’s site and this had limited betting options.
Stake limits rating
- Max bet ideal for limited budgets
- Bet multiplied by nine paylines
- Bet range of $2.25–$6.75
- Betting limited in the demo versions
Like Black Diamond Deluxe, the Black Diamond Platinum slot has a limited bet range. The original Black Diamond slot had a maximum bet of $135, but both these follow-up slots have a maximum of just $6.75.
It’s much more accessible to low-risk players, or those who have a smaller budget, but that’s also as far as it goes, leaving no room for growth. It’s definitely not a bet range for high-rollers.
There are also only three betting options, which means there’s limited control over how much you can bet, and the opening bet is high because it’s multiplied by nine paylines.
As an example, Mammoth Peak Hold and Win has 20 paylines and a minimum bet of $0.20, meaning 10 spins on Mammoth Peak cost less than one spin on Black Diamond Platinum.
Bonus features on Black Diamond Platinum
When it comes to bonus features, Black Diamond Platinum has Wilds, progressive jackpots, multipliers, and Platinum Spins. The Platinum Spins are triggered when the Platinum Spins symbol lands on the third reel. This triggers three free spins. If the Platinum Spins symbol lands on the reels again, three additional free spins are awarded. A maximum of 30 free spins can be awarded.
During Platinum Spins, the Platinum Spins Progressives are activated. This means that if three Black Diamond symbols land on payline 9 when the bet is set to maximum, the Tier 1 jackpot will be awarded instead of the Tier 2. Likewise, if three Black Diamond symbols land on paylines 1–8, the Tier 3 jackpot will be awarded instead of the Tier 4. The Black Diamond symbol is both the Wild and the trigger for the jackpots.

When Platinum Spins aren’t active, the Tier 2 and Tier 4 jackpots can be triggered by the Black Diamond symbol when playing at max bet. These progressive jackpots grow throughout the game, with a percentage of all wagers contributing to them. Everi doesn’t specify the percentage taken from every bet.
There are also three multipliers in Black Diamond Platinum: 2x, 3x, and 5x. The 2x multiplier is available on all the symbols except for the Black Diamond symbol. The 3x multiplier only appears on the red seven and the single bar symbols, while the 5x multiplier is available on the triple blue sevens, double yellow sevens, and double bar symbols. The maximum combined multiplier is 30x.
Bonus features rating
- Free spins
- Four potential jackpots
- Only three free spins
- Jackpots on max bet only
I was so pleased to see that the Black Diamond Platinum slot has introduced free spins to the Black Diamond series. Of all the bonus features available in the series, this is the most engaging. Given the stepped nature of the slot, only needing one Platinum Spins symbol to trigger the free spins makes it much easier. Landing three symbols on a payline would mean free spins are almost never triggered.
During the six hours I spent with Black Diamond Platinum, I triggered Platinum Spins twice and re-triggered them once within the round. It’s a much needed bonus feature, but unfortunately, just three free spins is very limited. Red Tiger’s Fish n’ Fish slot, for instance, offers the potential for infinite free spins, while the minimum number of free spins is five.
The 30x maximum multiplier is good, and is the same as in the original Black Diamond slot, however Black Diamond Deluxe has an impressive 75x multiplier which I was sorry to see this slot didn’t share.
The multipliers are a great feature, although I didn’t see them much during my time playing the game. The Black Diamond Deluxe balances out the multipliers across the symbols much more evenly, but in a game with so few bonus features I’m glad the multipliers have stuck around.
The four potential jackpots are a great addition, especially as this makes the Platinum Spins feature much more interesting. Unfortunately, there’s still a small chance of triggering a jackpot and it’s unfair that they’re only activated when playing at maximum bet. The percentage used from bets should also be included, especially since the betting options are so limited and so high.
Black Diamond Platinum audiovisuals
Black Diamond Platinum is very retro because the grid’s border has been designed to look like a slot machine. The background shows a funky, angular design that looks like the shades of blue in the Black Diamond symbol.

Theme | Classic casino |
Graphics | Retro with a limited color scheme |
Animations | Basic |
Sound quality | Good |
Mobile compatibility | Excellent |
There’s no background music in this game, but there are classic game sounds at the end of each spin and the winning jingle from Black Diamond Deluxe.
Black Diamond Platinum has a few animations, like the reels spinning and symbols pulsing when they form part of a win. The biggest change is when the Platinum Spins are triggered. This causes the reels to go red, and the background changes to red and yellow.
Audiovisuals rating
- Stripped back retro slot design
- New game sounds for Platinum Spins
- Design is very simplistic
- No background music
Black Diamond Platinum is almost identical to the other Black Diamond slots. The background has been changed to look similar but different, but otherwise the symbols, animations, and game sounds are identical.
For players who prefer a more classic-looking slot with fewer distractions, Black Diamond Platinum is a great option. I personally prefer a slot with more dynamic animations and engaging graphics. The color scheme isn’t inviting, and as this is the third Black Diamond slot in the series, I was hoping for something extra.
Fortunately, there are some new small additions to the slot thanks to the Platinum Spins feature. The red reels and fresh background add some excitement to the slot that it really needed.
In terms of audio, I feel the lack of a background track is disappointing. The game is too quiet without it, apart from the minor game sounds. The winning jingle is the same as in Black Diamond Deluxe, and I was hoping it would be a little different so it could stand apart. It’s a good, playful jingle, but there was room to build on it.
Black Diamond Platinum game layout
The Black Diamond Platinum slot has a 3×3 layout with nine paylines. It’s a stepped slot, meaning only up to two symbols can fall on the reels at a time.
Hit the spin button to start playing or use autospin to play hands-free. Black Diamond Platinum allows up to 100 autospins. There’s also a “Quick Spin” feature available in the settings.

On the bottom left, you’ll find the menu button. This opens up a window with the Quick Spin option, autospin, the bet settings, paytable, and the recall button for your game history. The paytable has basic information on the symbols and bonus features, but lacks details like the slot’s RTP.
The slot performs well on mobile in both portrait and landscape modes. It runs smoothly without compromising the retro design or the gaming experience.
Game layout rating
- Easy navigation
- Autoplay and Quick Spin
- Essential details missing
- No additional autospins settings
Everi keeps things simple with its game layouts, which also means nothing has changed from the previous Black Diamond slots. Particularly when it comes to the paytable. Important details, such as the slot’s RTP and how paylines or betting work, are completely absent from the paytable.
The autospin feature also needs improvement. 100 autospins is ok, but there’s always room for more. What’s more important to note, however, is the lack of autospin settings. Players use loss or win limits to help them control their spending, which in an autospin feature in important.
It’s a simple game layout, which means getting around is simple, but it’s possible to have a simple and clean layout while also providing players with all the information they need and any additional features to help them play safely.
