Flaming Hot slot review summary

If you’re in the market for a retro-style slot, EGT’s Flaming Hot slot could be it. This fruit slot keeps it classic when it comes to both visuals and bonus features. There are some animations and a few game sounds here and there, with plenty of fruit symbols thrown in.

As for bonus features, you’re looking at a Wild, a Scatter, a gamble feature, and four progressive jackpots. The gamble feature can be quite useful, since you can double your win up to three times. The jackpots come with an interesting bonus game, with the potential for a large win if the feature is triggered for you.

In terms of specs, this slot’s RTP is below average at 95.53%, with low-medium volatility. 40 paylines help combine wins, and the maximum bet on this game is $4,000.

To learn more about the Flaming Hot slot, this review is the place. I’ll be covering the slot’s RTP and volatility, the bonus features, payouts, and the different symbols. At the end, I also explain how to play the slot and how it works.

Time2play Expert Analysis

The Flaming Hot slot has a pretty low hit rate, based on my experience testing it for around three hours. This is down to the combination of a low RTP of 95.53%, low-medium volatility, and just 40 paylines.

When I did have wins, they were often across multiple paylines, which contributed to bigger average wins. Comparing it with a slot like Immortal Romance Mega Moolah, though, you can see how the number of paylines really affects your hit rate.

Immortal Romance Mega Moolah has a low RTP of 86.73% and high volatility, making it a high-risk game, but because it has 243 ways to win, I experienced many more frequent wins in the base game.

Bonus features

The Flaming Hot slot doesn’t have a lot when it comes to bonus features, keeping things clean and classic. The Wild symbol, which is the word “Wild,” appears on reels 2, 3, and 4. It substitutes for all symbols except for the Scatter. The Scatter symbol is a dollar sign. This symbol awards its own payouts for three, four, and five symbols, and doesn’t need to land on a payline to award a win.

Gamble feature

The gamble feature becomes available when you have a win of less than or equal to a set amount. The value is determined by your current bet. On a bet of $0.80, for example, the value is $28. When the feature is available, the autospin button turns into an “x2”, which opens up the gamble window.

Players need to guess whether the card is red or black to double their win. If correct, there’s the chance to guess again and double the new value. You can double your bet up to three times, but there can be up to five gamble attempts. If the choice is wrong, then the gamble amount is lost, and the round is finished.

You can also choose to end the gamble round by clicking the collect button to take your winnings from the round and add them to your last win. The gamble feature isn’t available during a progressive jackpot.

Jackpots

The Clover Chance jackpot feature comes with four progressive jackpots: Mini, Minor, Major, and Grand. Only one jackpot can be awarded during the jackpot feature, which is triggered randomly.

Once the Clover Chance jackpot feature starts, the player needs to choose from 15 chests and collect different symbols. 12 of these chests contain pearl symbols in red, green, blue, and purple. The symbol’s color corresponds with a jackpot level:

  • Purple = Mini
  • Blue = Minor
  • Green = Major
  • Red = Grand

The other three chests contain special level-up clover symbols in green, blue, and purple. Collecting any of these symbols will lead the player to win the next jackpot level, provided that all three of the corresponding pearl symbols have been collected.

  • The Mini jackpot is won when three purple pearl symbols are collected.
  • The Minor jackpot is won when three blue pearl symbols are collected, or when three purple pearls and purple clovers are collected.
  • The Major jackpot is won when three green pearl symbols are collected, or when three blue pearls and blue clovers are collected.
  • The Grand jackpot is won when three red pearl symbols are collected, or when three green pearls and clovers are collected.

The exact percentage of your wagers that contributes to the jackpots isn’t defined.

Time2play Expert Analysis

I think what’s available in the Flaming Hot slot is good, particularly the way you can upgrade your jackpot win by collecting the right symbols. The gamble feature is pretty classic and adds a good twist to what’s otherwise a standard win.

What’s missing here is a basic free spins round. If you prefer not to use the gamble feature and you don’t win the jackpot, which is likely, then there isn’t anything else happening. A free spins round would have added some extra oomph which it could have used.

I prefer a slot with more bonus features available, like Reactoonz, which is full of them. If, however, you prefer a more stripped-back, Vegas casino-style fruit slot, then this is a good option for you.

Symbols and paytable

The Flaming Hot slot has nine paying symbols, including the Scatter. The lowest-paying symbols are the cherries, the peaches, the apple, and the blueberries. These four symbols all carry the same payout values. If your bet is set to $0.80, you’re looking at a payout of $0.16 for three symbols and $2 for five symbols.

The watermelon and the bananas are next in line, offering a bigger payout. On the same bet of $0.80, you’ll get $0.40 for three symbols, and if you land five symbols, you’ll get a payout of $4.

The gold bar and the red seven are another step up. The gold bar will award $6 for five symbols, while the seven will award $20. It’s also the only symbol that can award a win with just two symbols, paying out $0.08 on a bet of $0.80, while three symbols award $1.20.

The highest paying symbol in the game is the Scatter. Three symbols on a bet of $0.80 award $1.60, while you’ll get $16 for four, and for five it’s $400. When playing at the maximum bet of $4,000, that win is equal to $2,000,000. If you don’t land five scatters, you can still get $100,000 for five sevens.

Flaming Hot’s symbols are a classic combination of fruit and bars, with surprisingly good payouts. It’s disappointing that the bottom four symbols all have the same payouts, especially when there are only nine paying symbols in total. There’s less variety in the wins, and it reduces opportunities to scale up your wins.

That being said, the general payouts are good, especially once you get to the higher symbols. Getting $20 for five sevens on a bet of just $0.80 is a good ratio.

Compare it to NetEnt’s Vegas Night Life slot. With its maximum bet of $100, you’ll get $1,500 for five of the highest-paying symbol. On a bet of $96, which is the closest betting option on the Flaming Hot slot, you’ll get $2,400 for five sevens, and $48,000 for five Scatters.

How to play the Flaming Hot slot

To start playing the Flaming Hot slot, press the spin button. You can also hold the button for fast play, which keeps the reels going at a rate of one second. Underneath it, there’s also the speed button, which allows you to play in normal, quick, and turbo mode.

The autoplay button is above the spin button. You can choose between 10, 20, 50, and 100 autospins. There are also three slider bars to set the autoplay to stop when your balance is less than or more than a certain amount, or if you win over a certain amount. The autoplay button changes to the gamble button if there’s a win.

Under the spin button, there’s the bet button. This opens up a panel with the different betting options, starting at $0.40, running up to $4,000. The bets start smaller at $0.40, $0.80, $1.60, $2.40, $3.20, and $4. After that, the increments are much bigger, increasing until they hit $1,200, $1,600, $2,000, $2,400, $3,200, and $4,000.

Under the grid, there are five quick bet options, which change depending on where on the scale your current bet is. On the right, there’s your last win. Clicking this allows you to switch between playing in credits and playing in cash. On the left is your current balance.

Below these, there’s the mute button, the “?”, and the “i”. The “?” opens up the help section, which explains the game controls and other buttons and settings. The “i” opens up the paytable, which explains the bonus features, too. The four jackpots sit at the top of the game window.

Expert verdict

This is definitely a game for high-rollers. The bet options increase in quite large increments, even from the smallest bets, right up to the maximum of $4,000, which would make less experienced players feel out of their depth very quickly.

It’s also a game that requires careful budgeting. The low-medium volatility might make you feel comfortable, leading you to place bigger bets that you might find quickly drain your budget. The slot’s RTP is another area to be cautious with. At 95.53%, there’s a higher house edge, meaning the game isn’t as balanced as slots with an RTP of 96% or higher.

As for bonus features, there’s not a lot happening, but if you prefer a simpler game, then this is a good option for you, since the two major bonus features are good. The gamble feature is easy to play and can help maximize your wins. The jackpot feature has the potential for big wins, but triggering it isn’t guaranteed.
