Expert verdict
I think there’s a lot to like on the Fish n’ Fish slot. It has decent payouts, a beautiful design, and fresh bonus features. It also has a max win potential of up to 5,000x.
First off, I found the game looks and feels quite soothing. It looks great with modern and colorful visuals, and it’s been paired with clever music and sound effect choices that create an overall immersive slot.
The bonus features are quite good, although the Major Symbols in particular are reminiscent of Big Bass Bonanza. However, I do think Fish n’ Fish does it better, especially as the slot has better payouts and runs more smoothly. The slot also puts its own twist on free spins, giving you the potential for unlimited free spins.
Despite that, I didn’t find the slot paid out that frequently, which would be due to its medium-high volatility. Although it has an RTP of 96.10%, I didn’t get many payouts, and not many big ones either, unless it was during the free spins round. In the base game, there is a win potential of 250x your stake, but I didn’t come close. The bet range was also disappointing, as I could only work within a range of $0.20 to $20.
- Can win 5,000x your stake
- Potential for unlimited free spins
- Major Symbols contribute to big wins
- Medium-high volatility
- Bet range of $0.20-$20
- Average wins are small

Fish n’ Fish slot RTP and volatility
The Fish n’ Fish RTP is 96.10% and the slot’s volatility falls into the medium-high range. Symbols need to land across one or more of the 30 fixed paylines for players to land a win.
Payout facts
Category | Details |
---|---|
RTP | 96.10% |
Maximum win | 5,000x |
Highest-paying symbol | Different fish |
Volatility | Medium-high |
The slot has eight sea-themed symbols. The four lowest paying symbols are different colored seaweed. The higher-paying symbols are different fish, each one bigger than the last.
The lowest-paying symbols all have the same payout values: 0.20 for three, and 2.00 for five. From there, there is a slight jump to the higher-paying symbols. The next symbol pays 1.00 for three and 10.00 for five. The highest-paying symbol pays out 3.00 for three and 25.00 for five.
Payouts rating
- Decent payouts
- High average payouts
- Medium-high volatility
- Lowest symbols have same payouts
Fish n’ Fish doesn’t do badly in terms of general payouts. On average, its symbols pay out more than Big Bass Bonanza’s for the same bet of $0.20.
Three of all the lowest-paying symbols on Big Bass pay out just $0.10, whereas you get $0.20 on Fish n’ Fish. For the highest-paying symbol, four symbols awards $10 compared with Big Bass’s $4. If you land five on Big Bass, you will win $40, but on average, Fish n’ Fish pays out better.
Despite the decent payouts, I didn’t find the game paid out that often, thanks to the medium-high volatility. The average RTP of 96.10% does balance the game out a little, but I still felt I didn’t land many wins and a lot of those I did land were on the smaller side.
The 30 paylines are great to help maximize winnings even if they are fixed. It has to be said there are slots which have many more paylines, such as IGT’s Stinkin’ Rich which has 100.
Fish n’ Fish slot stakes
When I first started looking into this slot, I came across some different bet ranges, including one demo with a range of $0.10-$2,000. To get the most accurate range, I played the demo available on Red Tiger’s site, which had a bet range of $0.20-$20. The bet range could vary according to your jurisdiction, so check it out before you start the game. Adjusting the bet was straightforward: Press the plus and minus symbols to adjust as needed.
Initially, the bet increases in increments of 0.20: $0.20, $0.40, $0.60, $0.80. After that, the increases become wider, until you reach $20.

Stake limits rating
- Potential for 5,000x wins
- Easy to adjust your bet
- Low maximum bet of $20
- Few betting options
Although I did come across a demo with a much wider bet range, the version of the game that I played only went as high as $20, which when you start at $0.20, is not a wide range. $0.20 isn’t a bad starting point. It allows players with smaller budgets to make smaller bets that they’re comfortable with.
High-rollers are probably going to be disappointed with how limited the bet range is. Even Fortune Charm goes up to $40. Big Bass Bonanza starts at $0.10 and has a max bet of $250.
I also found I had to bring my bet back down from $20 quite often as I was draining my Balance. Since the game is quite high in terms of volatility, it doesn’t pay out that often.
The Major Symbols don’t play as big a part during the base game, at least in my experience, but during the free spins there’s a win potential of up to 5,000x.
Fish n’ Fish slot bonus features
The slot has some innovative bonus features. There aren’t any Wilds or Scatters, but Fish n’ Fish does have what it calls ‘Major Symbols’. These are the high-paying symbols, with a random extra prize attached to them. Landing one of these awards the player an additional 1x to 250x on their win!
The only way to pick up the extra prizes is through the special row at the top. This row consists of birds, small boats, and big boats. The birds don’t collect anything. The small boats pick up the extra prizes from the reel they landed on. The big boats collect all the extra prizes from all the reels.

The special row also comes into play during the Free Spins round. The free spins round is triggered when three of the Bonus Symbols land on the reels, but it works differently from typical free spins rounds. The base game symbols are all replaced with either birds or Major Symbols with random prizes, from 1x up to 5,000x your stake.
The boats and birds in the special row all move one spot to the left with each spin, allowing the boats to collect prizes across the reels as they move over them. Each time they move to the left, there’s the chance for a new boat to appear on the rightmost reel. The Free Spins round ends when there are only birds on the special row, or if the maximum win of 5,000x is reached.
The free spins round can also be triggered through the game’s Feature Buy. There are two features that players can buy: free spins, represented by the small boat, and Super Free Spins, represented by the big boat. The cost for both varies according to your current bet at the time.
Bonus features rating
- Unlimited free spins
- Major Symbols can maximize winnings
- Buy feature
- No Wilds or Scatters
- Free spins round can end quickly
Fish n’ Fish does pretty well when it comes to bonus features, though admittedly there could have been more. Typical symbols like Scatters and Wilds aren’t available and there isn’t a jackpot either. The available features are quite innovative and different, but I do think there was room to include more.
The slot’s Major Symbols and Special Row are quite similar to Big Bass Bonanza’s Money Symbols and Fisherman. If a fisherman appears on the reels in Big Bass, he collects the money prizes from the fish-like Money Symbols, just like the small and big boats in Fish n’ Fish.
I do think Fish n’ Fish does it better for a few reasons. The winnings on Fish n’ Fish tend to be bigger. In the free spins round, players can win up to 5,000x their stake, whereas the maximum win in Big Bass Bonanza is only 2,000x.
The free spins round on Fish n’ Fish also looks different from typical free spins rounds. The base game symbols are all replaced with a bird or Major Symbol and the background changes to night mode, making everything purple. The special row at the top controlling the free spins round is also a fresh approach.
This free spins model allows you to have unlimited free spins, so long as the boats keep coming each time the row moves to the left. Because of this, you never know how many free spins you’re going to get until the round ends. It’s always a minimum of five, which is low compared to some other games. Immortal Romance, for example, starts off with 10 free spins.
The first time I played the free spins round, I left with a huge win of over $300. This was because the boats kept coming and kept picking up the prizes. All my attempts after that had small wins and ended after about 5 free spins.
Fish n’ Fish Audiovisuals
The audiovisuals for this slot are definitely on theme. The graphics are high-quality and rich in color, with lots of detail. The background of the slot shows an underwater scene, with rocks, colorful sea anemones, and small animated bubbles. The symbols also have small animations whenever there’s a win.
The grid sits under the water line, and the special row is the surface of the water so the birds and boats sit just above the grid. These also have minor animations, as they bob up and down above the grid and whizz to the left with each spin. When the small and big boats pick up extra prizes from the major symbols, they also jump up above the water line.

Theme | Fishing |
Graphics | Vibrant |
Animations | Smooth |
Sound quality | Excellent |
Mobile compatibility | Good |
The music for this slot is well-chosen. The background track is a simple, melodic tune that fits the theme and the game sounds are all emblematic of fish and the sea too. When you spin the reels, it sounds like a fishing rod being wound.
Audiovisuals rating
- Vibrant high-quality graphics
- Smooth animations
- Cohesive slot design
- Music becomes repetitive
There’s something really soothing about this slot. I think it’s the really well-thought-out combination of the smooth animations, the melodic music that makes you feel like you went out fishing for the day, and even the visuals themselves. The slot looks cute and a little like a Pixar movie.
Even the game sounds create a really cohesive and immersive under-the-sea experience. When the reels are spinning it sounds like a fishing rod being wound, and when the reels stop spinning, they stop with a ‘plop’ sound.
The animations are smooth and there are different levels of animation too. Some are small and subtle, like the glimmer of a winning symbol. Some are more obvious, like the birds whizzing across the special row. It’s also a nice small detail that the birds on the special bow bob up and down in time with the music.
There’s not too much else going on, but I don’t think there needs to be as this slot feels well balanced.
Red Tiger frequently produces slots like this: cohesive, balanced, and great to look at. Fortune Charm is another key example of what Red Tiger can do with a slot. Compared to Big Bass Bonanza, which you could argue this slot takes a lot of inspiration from, this slot is more developed and more modern. Considering it was released in 2020, Big Bass Bonanza’s visuals already come across as dated.
Of course, the background track can become a little repetitive, it is the same three beats over and over. It did take longer than usual for me to mute it and carry on playing, however, because I was really enjoying the gentle beat.
Fish n’ Fish slot game layout
The Fish n’ Fish slot has five reels and four rows, allowing the grid to hold an extra five symbols compared to the typical 5×3.
To play the game, players just need to press the spin button, while adjusting the bet accordingly. I found getting around the slot to be very simple, as I found the paytable and ‘Help’ button quickly. I took a few spins to find my balance, as I’m used to finding it under the grid. In this slot, it sits on the top left. Everything else you need is below the grid as usual.

Reel layout | 5×4 |

Ease of use | Easy to navigate |

The slot has Autoplay, where you need to select the total spins you want first. This ranges from 10 to 100 spins. You also need to set your Loss limit, which goes as high as $20,000. There are additional Autoplay settings, where you can select to stop on a bonus feature or to stop on a win above a certain amount. This goes as high as $200,000.
Turbo mode is available and the slot works perfectly in portrait mode on mobile. In landscape mode, things are a bit small.
Game layout rating
- Portrait mode on mobile is good
- Slot is easy to navigate
- Autospin and Turbo Spin
- No game history
- Horizontal mode on mobile is small
In terms of game layout, there’s not much to say. The game is clearly mapped out and finding what I needed was simple. The only thing that took me quite a few spins to find, was my balance. In this slot, the balance is on the top left – I’m used to finding it near the spin button.
Autospin is available, with additional settings. There are five options for how many spins you can have: 10, 20, 30, 50, 100. This is a decent range, although slots like Dead or Alive 1 allow you to have up to 1000 free spins, offering a bigger range.
It’s great to see Turbo Spins are available too, and they do make the game move faster as you get the results almost instantly.
When it comes to playing on mobile, the slot works perfectly in portrait mode. The grid takes up the full width of the screen, with all the buttons moved to the bottom within easy reach of your thumbs. In horizontal mode, it doesn’t work quite as well. The background ends up taking up too much real estate, and the grid is a little too small for comfort.
