Expert verdict

There is no doubt that FanDuel is good for newbies and pros. It has 20 sports to bet on, such as Cricket, Football, Hockey, and Soccer. Bettors can wager on their favourite leagues and sports like NHL and NFL, on this platform. You can also play several games at the FanDuel casino. FanDuel also offers several daily fantasy sports to bet on.

The FanDuel sportsbook shows betting odds in all three formats. Moreover, bettors can switch between these odds easily. Place Moneyline, Spreads, Same Game Parlays, and Total bets on FanDuel, and use the live betting facility to place in-game bets. While writing this FanDuel review, we noticed three payment options.

The FanDuel app provides good customer support but can improve itself by streamlining its live chat and email-based support. It has an FAQs section as well which has answers on several topics. However, I really feel that customer support function lacks in several aspects and needs to be impoved.

The FanDuel casino and sportsbook are present on desktop, mobile and tablet. Moreover, the FanDuel sportsbook app works with Chrome, Edge, and other top browsers. It loads on any device under 60 seconds and is stable across devices. Flutter Entertainment, which was founded in 2016, owns the FanDuel Group.

Sports and markets at FanDuel sportsbook Canada

If you are interested in using the FanDuel Canada app, you will find an impressive 20 sports that you can wager on. Some of these include Australian Rules, Baseball, Basketball, College Basketball, College Baseball, Golf, Darts, and Hockey. Punters can also wager on a few political events with the FanDuel sportsbook app and website. Find more details in this FanDuel online sportsbook review.

In addition, FanDuel also features several popular and not-so-popular sporting leagues. For example, the football section displays several NFL matches being played by the respective teams. Similarly, you can view NHL teams competing for the Stanley Cup in the hockey section.

The FanDuel sports betting website and app also feature several ongoing cricket matches being played by Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand, and other teams. MLB games also get covered by this online sports betting platform. Stay on with this review and get the answer to this question, ‘Is FanDuel legal in Canada’.

In my view, this FanDuel sports betting app can do several things to improve. But first, let’s focus on the positives. FanDuel covers all the four North American sports, so that’s a big plus. Caesars and Play Falls View falter in this area. Second, the FanDuel website and sports betting app also cover upcoming sports like Darts, so this is also a strong point.

But now let me cover a few weak points of the FanDuel sportsbook. It has fewer sports than 888sport; the latter has 26 options, while FanDuel has 20. This may stop many pros from trying this online sportsbook for lack of enough sports options. I also discovered a few more cons while writing this FanDuel sportsbook review.

To be honest, I was also surprised that the FanDuel sportsbook doesn’t cover the Cricket T-20 World Cup! There are many Ontarians who might be interested in this tournament and depriving them of the T-20 World Cup may not be a clever idea, and they might migrate to other sports betting apps.

I also must complain about the Soccer World Cup section in the FanDuel sportsbook. This section shows Outrights for some teams playing in the World Cup, but those figures haven’t been updated since December 2018!

This sports betting app doesn’t have prominent Hockey leagues as well. As a professional reviewer, I know that many Canadian online sports betting apps, such as DraftKings offer scores of Hockey tournaments to their sports bettors.

The American Football section in the FanDuel Sportsbook features NFL games, and College Football matches. This section has limited offerings; several competing betting sites in Ontario, like DraftKings and BetMGM, have more than five offerings. Besides, the NFL section doesn’t specify the match dates.

You can view all the teams participating in the Stanley Cup in the American Hockey section. However, unlike the other betting websites in Canada, the FanDuel sportsbook doesn’t say anything about the upcoming matches for this season. Sports bettors need more information, or at least more frequent updates, on games before the big event.

Betting features

This betting website offers more betting features for the NFL than its competitors, and that’s why it is unique. On the FanDuel sportsbook, you have the following betting options available- Weekly Specials, Super Bowl, Team Win Totals, Conference Winners, Division Winners, and Season Awards.

There are more betting options to choose from for the NFL, and SB Winner Specials. Click any betting option, say Weekly Specials, and see the various odds for the various teams. For example, this betting feature has the following betting markets-Highest Scoring Team and the Lowest Scoring Team. FanDuel also lets you place combination bets on select sports.

Every sporting tournament on the FanDuel sportsbook has one or more betting markets. For example, you can place only Future Bets on the Australian Rules matches. If you choose baseball, you have the option to place Spread Bets, Moneylines and Total Bets.

The FanDuel sportsbook has a live betting feature which you can locate on the top right part of the homepage. However, this betting platform doesn’t have a live streaming facility. That said, the live betting feature covers only a few sports.

Betting features rating

92/100 Plenty of versatile betting features
  • Live streaming
  • Icon shows cash-out markets
  • Lack of live betting markets

There are some interesting betting markets on the FanDuel sports betting site. However, some are missing, and these are Game Props and Team Props. Proposition bets are wagers on specific events within a given match. These side bets don’t have anything to do with the outcome of the game.

If DraftKings and BetMGM can have Games Props and Team Props, why not the FanDuel sportsbook? I also found the Super Bowl bets confusing. Are these Futures Bets? If so, the FanDuel sportsbook must specify.

The same is the case with the other betting options on the FanDuel platform. I couldn’t find out whether the Conference Winners and Division Winners bets were future bets. There were a few more inconsistencies that I noticed while writing this sportsbook review.

More than 10 million people watched the Alabama-Texas CFB game, but the FanDuel sportsbook has limited betting options in this category and this annoyed me. Second, this betting website doesn’t have a live-streaming facility, which DraftKings and BetRivers have.

Furthermore, the FanDuel live betting section covers only a few sports; It had only Golf when I wrote this sports betting review. I’d request the FanDuel sportsbook designers to make the necessary changes to become a leader in the sports betting industry.

Sports bettors can use the Touchdown Parlay Builder and create several parlays for NFL games. However, these bets can be placed on individual players and not the team or the game in question. This feature isn’t available on College and Football. Furthermore, the FanDuel sportsbook lets you insure your same game parlays. Login to the FanDuel sports betting website and start building your parlay bets.

Punters can view the FanDuel odds in all three formats, i.e., American, Decimal, and Fractions. Furthermore, bettors can convert the odds format by clicking the odds display button provided at the bottom of the homepage.

This sportsbook updates the FanDuel odds regularly, and you can check this by refreshing the homepage every now and then. If you feel otherwise, please speak to the customer support. However, there’s no way to know whether FanDuel provides competitive odds.

In addition, the FanDuel sportsbook offers odds boost feature to its customers. Go to the Terms and Conditions page to find out how this scheme works. Please note that FanDuel can cancel the boosted odds feature anytime without informing its customers.

The in-play wagering section of this betting website has the latest odds. For example, we could see the odds update themselves at regular intervals in a World Tennis Association Premium singles match. FanDuel will inform its players when the odds of their selections change. Players should consult the house rules page regarding how the deductions in their net gains work for the respective odds.

Odds rating

  • Poor baseball odds

I am impressed by FanDuel’s odds presentation. You can see the FanDuel odds in all the three formats, and this is a great plus for this betting website. Players also have the Odds Boost feature which is a bonus for the sports bettors.

That said, I wish the FanDuel sportsbook made things better for its customers. First, I don’t know whether this betting site offers competitive odds. I can only find out this data by visiting DraftKings and BetRivers, but it would be taxing for me.

FanDuel can’t tell what the best odds are at the competing sports betting sites and compare those odds with its own. Second, there’s no information on the FanDuel sportsbook regarding potential payouts, I had to calculate this myself. This may discourage several first-time bettors from sticking with this website.

On the other hand, several Ontario sports betting sites, such as Play Falls View, contain information on potential payouts regarding Football, Hockey, and others. Now I will focus on the positives of FanDuel, so continue reading the FanDuel sportsbook review.

I was happy on seeing all the three odds formats on the FanDuel sportsbook. Moreover, punters can change from one format to another easily. Bettors will also like the FanDuel sports betting platform for its Odds Boost feature.

Payment methods

FanDuel accepts deposits through PayPal, Interac, and Visa credit cards. Though the sportsbook mentions Mastercard as well, this betting payments solution is currently unavailable. Some banks can decline transactions from real money gaming sites. For instance, the Royal Bank of Canada doesn’t process deposits and withdrawals from this sports betting site.

The FanDuel sportsbook information doesn’t have any information regarding deposit fees. You can withdraw funds using Venmo, Cheque, Online Banking, FanDuel Prepaid Card, and PayPal. To withdraw funds with one of these methods, you must make your first deposit using that method.

Please note that Venmo, PayPal, and Prepaid Cards withdrawals may take up to 48 business hours. Debit card withdrawals may take 24 hours to reflect in your account. You can also request funds using Online Banking, in which case the withdrawal time is up to 2 hours.

FanDuel recommends that you use Interac in case PayPal fails. Interac is also useful when some banks decline card-based transactions to FanDuel. Please note that this sportsbook doesn’t work with ecoPayz, Skrill and Neteller. Also, please submit all your KYC details to this sports betting website for timely payments. These details include your identity, source of funds, and address proof. All these things answer the question, ‘Is the FanDuel sportsbook legal.’

I feel letdown by the payment section of the FanDuel sportsbook, and there are multiple reasons why I feel so. For starters, the payment information of this sportsbook is confusing. FanDuel says it accepts payments only by Visa, Interac, and PayPal, but elsewhere it includes Venmo and prepaid cards.

There is no information on the deposit and withdrawal limits either. The C$20,000 limit that you read above is about Racing, and not other sports. I also didn’t find any information about processing fees.

There is a C$5 fee on card payments but that applies only to chargebacks. Now let’s look at some competitor sportsbooks. Sports Interaction works with six payment gateways, while BetRivers works with ten. Furthermore, both these betting sites have clear information on deposits and withdrawals.

I didn’t find popular payment options, such as Bitcoin and Skrill, on FanDuel online sports betting. Many bettors prefer BTC payments for anonymity as well as the high intrinsic value. Since many seasoned bettors prefer Skrill so this absence is likely to irk them.

Cash cards help bettors cap their betting expenses. These are particularly helpful to all those who feel they might get addicted to betting. It beats me why a socially responsible sports betting app like FanDuel doesn’t have ecoPayz, unlike Betway.

Safety features at FanDuel sportsbook

A legal sports betting app and website, FanDuel online sports betting has received a licence from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission. There are other reasons why you can trust this legal sportsbook. It uses the latest encryption technology and possesses an SSL certificate.

FanDuel doesn’t allow players under 19 to gamble on its platform and encourages safe betting practices. You can read more about these practices in FanDuel’s Responsible Gaming Policy. Players needn’t worry about their personal data either while betting on FanDuel.

This legal betting website has a comprehensive Privacy Policy which explains how it uses your personal data. That said, FanDuel uses its customer data to deliver a superior betting and gambling experience. FanDuel allows its users to set deposit, time, and loss limits.

FanDuel doesn’t have a random number generator so this may discourage people from trying its online casino. Second. I don’t know what encryption technology powers the FanDuel betting site. These are the only two minuses I noticed on this platform.

But let’s look at the positives. FanDuel encrypts its data and has an SSL certificate. This means your passwords are safe, and you can deposit and withdraw funds on FanDuel safely. FanDuel also does its bit by promoting safe betting practices.

I think the Responsible Gaming feature is one of the best highlights of this sportsbook. FanDuel tries hard to control underage gambling on its platform, and this is a helpful feature for the entire community.

This platform also uses its customer data discreetly. This means your name, passwords, email addresses, etc. will never go to third parties. But honestly, this feature is standard fare in many online sportsbooks. Please keep reading.

All said and done, the FanDuel sportsbook is safe and trustworthy. As a legal betting entity, it promotes healthy betting and gambling practices among its customers. But this sportsbook can become better by having a random number generator.

Customer support

FanDuel helps its players in five ways. Click the Support tab and read articles on six topics. These topics are Account and Verification, Eligibility Rules, Betting Limits, Rewards & Promotions, Retail Locations, Responsible Gaming and How to Play.

Click the Retail Locations tab to find a FanDuel retail sportsbook near you. Players can also email FanDuel. This sportsbook has a web-based contact form; fill in your name and other details and get a reply within 24 hours. FanDuel also has a dedicated phone number for its customers.

Customers can also chat with a live customer agent. The live chat window is in the bottom-right part of the Support page, click to expand it and begin chatting. You must give your name, email ID, and authenticate your identity before initiating a conversation.

FanDuel’s live chat support is provided by bots and humans. The first few questions come from the bots who later hand over your query to an expert. Customers can save their time by consulting the FAQs section which is provided alongside the chat window. Finally, FanDuel also provides support with its social media channels.

Support rating

82/100 Improvement needed
  • Helpful live chat staff
  • How-to-play support offered
  • Detailed FAQs
  • Lengthy response times

I will begin by talking about the live chat window. Why is it hidden in the Support page? Several sportsbooks like DraftKings and PointsBet sportsbook have live chat windows on their home pages, so it’s frustrating to see FanDuel’s chat platform hidden.

I had to answer several queries in the chat window before being handed over to a real agent. Some questions had no relevance at all, so the live chat window experience was a big letdown.

I was told that I had to wait for two minutes before a real chat agent spoke with me. That moment never came and, I had to shut down the window. I hope FanDuel improves its live chat window support.

FanDuel’s email-based support has the same issues. I had to enter five different boxes before submitting my query. Let me tell you that there was no response from the sportsbook even after 24 hours.

FanDuel can improve itself by improving the two issues listed above. I think it should have the chat window right on the home page and let the customers connect with the sportsbook quickly. That said, FanDuel’s support function is okay.

The FanDuel sportsbook has a native app which you can download from the Apple and Google Play Stores. You can also launch is mobile sports betting app on the go by typing its URL on your tablet or device.

Please note that the FanDuel sportsbook app works with Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox. Furthermore, the site load time of this mobile app is under 60 seconds which is per the industry standard. The FanDuel app contains all the information that you find on the desktop.

Platform rating

93/100 Excellent platform

  • No download link on mobile site

I hope FanDuel takes my suggestions seriously as far as mobile betting is concerned. There must be a mobile download link on the website. This way, bettors don’t have to guess the correct name of the FanDuel mobile app on the Play Store.

Coming to the usability part, there should be fewer sign-up boxes. If FanDuel focuses on the Canadian players, why insist on someone’s address or phone number? Simply ask for the Social Insurance Number while registering with the sportsbook.

With that said, the FanDuel mobile app clicks most of the boxes. It is light, fits easily on tablets and mobiles, and has a straightforward design. Beides, this sportsbook’s app has 2-3 colours thereby elevating the betting experience.

There is no difference in content between the mobile and desktop interfaces. Players can readily locate all the information quickly after one or two scrolls. This functionality is absent in DraftKings and BetRivers sportsbooks.

FanDuel has done an excellent job in meeting customer expectations while designing its app. All the letters are big enough to be read, the sign-up boxes can be filled easily, and overall, the app provides superior betting experience.
