2024 NorthStar Bets sportsbook review: Ontario

Overall, I found that NorthStar had a rock-solid provision regarding sports markets. If it’s an event you want to bet on, there’s a very high chance that NorthStar will have a market for you. 

I was impressed with the array of minor sports covered by NorthStar. If you are a fan of relatively minor sports like rugby league, snooker or water polo, then this betting site will be an excellent location. 

The site knows plenty of sports bettors will want to place wagers on Ontario-based teams. So it was great to find excellent markets covering local franchises and teams. 

One minor negative for NorthStar was that their total number of sports offered (24) was lower than at other gambling sites in Ontario. 

In conclusion, I cannot claim to have been blown away by the sports markets available here, but I have a strong offering that will please most sports fans. 

American football fans will be delighted at the number of markets available for each NFL game. Ontario bettors can find upwards of 200 markets on every league game. And if you follow another American football league, you can also choose from an excellent selection of wagering options. 

Hockey lovers will also enjoy placing wagers on this site. NHL fans can bet on Canada’s top hockey franchises and choose from over 30 markets for each fixture. There are also international leagues too. 

Being honest here, as with their sports markets, the additional features at NorthStar can best be described as being good but not great. 

A notable positive for me was the superb selection of live streaming options. The volume of live streams offered by NorthStar Bets sportsbook compares very favourably with most other operators in the Ontario market. 

To complement this live streaming offering, NorthStar online also provides extensive live betting markets on their website and mobile app. 

I was a little disappointed with the array of other additional features. Yes, there was a cashout option on many markets, but common features such as same game parlays (where you add multiple same game markets to your bet slip) were conspicuous by their absence. 

The bottom line is that if you are a live betting fan, you will love the features at NorthStar. But if you want many other features, you may be a touch disappointed. 

Their streams are accompanied by an excellent suite of statistics relating to the event to enhance the live betting offering further. The screen is laid out to enable you to view the stats, the streams and the markets simultaneously. Being able to study these stats is hugely beneficial when you are trying to find live betting options.

I tested the odds at this Ontario sports site on a few different sports markets and compared them with other Ontario operators. 

In most cases, I found NorthStar sportsbook odds broadly similar to what I found at most other Ontario sportsbooks. 

There were a few exceptions, but there did not appear to be a pattern in which sports or events had the best or worst odds at this gambling site. 

The regular bet boosts enhance the odds in some sporting markets at NorthStar. In most cases, these boosts are available on major events. 

In conclusion, you will not be disappointed by the odds found here. Most markets align with competitors; the best boosts can add extra value to your wagers. 

The range of payment methods at NorthStar Bets sportsbook is slightly lower than what you will find at other Ontario sites. 

That being said, the six payment methods cover the most popular options for Ontario bettors. So the majority of players will be satisfied with the selection. 

The absence of payment fees was a big plus point for this site. Some operators in Ontario do charge for withdrawals, so this counts as another plus point for the NorthStar Bets sportsbook. 

The minimum deposit limit of $10 aligns with any other Ontario sportsbook gaming platform. It allows players operating on low budgets to use the site.

The most impressive aspect of the customer support at NorthStar Bets is the FAQ section in the website and app help centre. 

The articles here are extensive; in most cases you will find the solution to your issue without contacting customer support. 

If you do need to contact customer services, the email contact form is simple to access from the Help page. You need to enter your contact details and the nature of your query. 

The live chat option was also reliable, and the operators had an excellent depth of knowledge. However, it was disappointing not to find any telephone support option. 

It is impossible to give NorthStar Bets top marks in this category due to the lack of telephone support. However, all other aspects of the customer support provision are delivered to an excellent standard.

I found the NorthStar Bets website and mobile app extremely easy to use. This made for a pleasant and hassle-free gambling experience. 

A key part of this was the expertly designed NorthStar Bets app. This made finding the markets and options I wanted a very straightforward process. 

The sports insights feature was anything positive regarding NorthStar Bets usability. Reading expert analysis of major events and those featuring Canadian-owned local teams is a huge help when trying to find market value. 

It is hard to pinpoint an obvious negative regarding NorthStar Bets usability. Perhaps the app is not as extensive as some other Ontario operators, but this is a minor concern. 

Overall, this is one of the strongest areas for NorthStar Bets. I had a great time using the operator’s website and mobile app.
