Coolbet sportsbook review — Ontario 2024

Both the Coolbet mobile app and the desktop have 29 sports and events available which I found to be pretty decent. This matches other sportsbooks such as BetMGM and Betway. 

The sports are listed alphabetically which made it very easy for me to find the specific sport I was looking for. Once you click on the sport, I could find all the leagues and countries available. 

At this juncture, I was able to then see all the betting markets per sport. These are listed neatly within each sporting category, though some sports have more options than others. 

I will say though that this section isn’t quite as neatly laid out as that of other sportsbooks. It did take a bit more time to find the bets. 

Overall though, I was pleased to find a range of smaller sports on offer, some specials, and the option to bet on entertainment and politics as well as sports. 

American football is one of the biggest markets at Coolbet Canada. I was able to sift through over 20 different betting options as well as betting options from both the US and Canada. In comparison to other sportsbooks though, this section is lacking. 

Hockey, on the other hand, was a different story. Here, the bets match those of football. And, impressively, there are leagues and events from ten different countries around the world, which really put this section in a league of its own. 

Coolbet online sportsbook offers a lot of similar features to sites like Betway and Bwin sportsbook. However, the latter stands out because it also offers live streaming across many sports, something sadly lacking here. 

Nevertheless, I was very pleased with the overall setup at Coolbet. I was able to set auto cash out options and let the bets get settled for me. 

The bet builder is great too, and I like being able to change the bets to the specifics I am interested in. Most players are going to like this feature too. 

While there is only live streams on esports, for other sports there is live betting. In this section, I found a wealth of live stats and data available, which was really appreciated. 

Having some of these additional details allowed me to tweak my bets. And these small changes can really make the difference to your final payout. 

The reason I don’t give this a higher score though, is the lack of live streams. I’d really like to see this brought in as it would just elevate Coolbet Ontario a little bit. However, for both hockey and football, there was a wealth of options including parlays on offer. So I can’t complain too much here. 

This was one of the biggest surprises here. Impressively, Coolbet is one of the few sites that actually listed some of its percentage payouts without me having to calculate them. 

And I will say this, they’re easily ahead of the rest. For instance, in the soccer section, for outrights, Coolbet has a whopping 98.1% payout rate. This is head and shoulders above the next sportsbook, Unibet at just 96.9%. 

Okay, so the payout percentages do drop across the different bet types. A soccer bet for both teams to score has a 95.2% payout, but this is still nicely within the top range. And, it’s still higher than payouts from other sites. 

Other Coolbet sports are not quite as high as this, but overall the Coolbet odds are easily some of the best out there. 

That being said, unfortunately, because some of the smaller sports bring things down, the final average payout of 93.85% is a bit low. But, it’s still above my 93% cutoff. 

These days, I really do look for sports betting sites with more than just four payments. I will say that I am disappointed with Coolbet for this. 

The deposit methods at Coolbet Ontario are good though — you’ve got Visa, Mastercard, MuchBetter and Interac. But I want more to choose from. And that’s especially when you have sites like Bwin and Betway offering more than ten deposit methods. 

Luckily at least, the same payment methods can be used for withdrawals, so at least there’s no faffing about changing payment options all the time. 

Coolbet also lays out its payment options very clearly, so there’s no confusion here. Everything is free from their side, and they do have an average payout processing of just three hours — one of the fastest out there. 

Impressively, this does mean that if you use MuchBetter, your payouts are almost instant. Despite it all, this mollified me somewhat resulting in a slightly higher score than you might expect given the lack of options. 

To be honest, I don’t really have much to say here about Coolbet Ontario. It generally ticks the boxes, for starters because it has the Ontario iGaming licence. 

I mentioned in this Coolbet review already that it’s generally average across the board, and this is also clear within the security. It offers 128-bit SSL but nothing higher. 

I was somewhat concerned by the fact that I couldn’t find any external auditor for the running of the games in the Coolbet casino or for the betting site. There is something in place though as Coolbet proudly announces its adherence to these rules. 

Where Coolbet Ontario does shine though, and where the rating gets pulled up higher, is in the responsible gaming section. This is core to Coolbet’s operation and safe gaming is even part of their tagline. 

There are numerous responsible gaming tools available including self-exclusion, cooling off and setting bet and deposit limits. All of this is very easily accessible too which I really liked.

Okay, so when a sportsbook doesn’t even offer 24/7 support I am rather disappointed. And that is the case here at Coolbet. 

It’s the reason I scored support so low actually. That’s because I really feel strongly about having the option to get in touch whenever I need to without any restrictions. 

However, across both desktop and the Coolbet mobile platform, I did find that the support was easily accessible in all forms including the live chat. 

Additionally, I was impressed by the fact that Coolbet actually has a phone option as not many sportsbooks in Canada actually do at this time. 

Finally, the response time is second to none, with the live chat responding in 15 seconds on average. A 2-hour response time from an email is not bad either.

Well, what can I say about the Coolbet platform itself? Not much really, as it does indeed tick all the boxes. Impressively, the design and look of the site is the same across all platforms. 

I might even go out on a limb to say that the Coolbet mobile platform is even better than the desktop one. It offers the same Canadian market options in a neat, functional way. However, it’s the Coolbet betting markets that do raise the one quibble for me. And that’s the lack of filters when you’re in the markets themselves. 

This is an issue across the board, both desktop and mobile, which I think should be a relatively easy fix. Essentially, I want more options for the different bet types. Let me search moneyline odds or parlays in separate filters. 

As for other products, Coolbet’s online casino is actually one of my favourites. Plenty of top casino games to choose from, but it’s the seamless navigation and extensive filters that won my approval. By far, Coolbet offers the most intuitive and helpful navigation I’ve come across in my online casino search. Not to mention really niche game studios with incredible games – that’s really hard to beat in Ontario at the moment.

Really though, there’s not much to complain about here at all. The site loads well, is very intuitive and is easy on the eyes, thanks to the relatively muted colour scheme found throughout. It gets a high score from me.
