Expert verdict
Overall, I think the TonyBet sportsbook is a bit of a mixed bag. It has a huge number of sports markets and some have a massive number of betting markets. For instance, one soccer game had 584 betting options alone!
However, this is both a plus and a minus. It is fantastic to have such a huge choice, but for a novice bettor, it can be a bit overwhelming.
I found that using the website was more complex than using the TonyBet mobile app, so maybe that’s the way to go for new users. Once their account has been verified, they can download the app and try betting through that.
Overall I think this is a great sportsbook with some very competitive odds. I’d say it’s worth sports bettors signing up for a TonyBet account, but it’s only available to Ontario residents, so players can’t use a VPN to access the site.
Sports and markets
TonyBet Ontario offers punters in the province a choice of 32, with some options changing with the seasons.
Additionally, TonyBet Canada doesn’t just stick to the most popular sports, but casts its net wide and covers more unusual sporting events, like handball matches and darts championships.

Sports and markets rating
- All major sports covered
- Over 2,000 betting markets
- Plenty of esports covered
- No horse racing
I’m really impressed with the TonyBet online sportsbook. There are so many sports to choose from, although there are no horse racing bets. However, many sports have a huge number of betting options.
For instance, I took a close look at ice hockey matches. Some of them had over 300 sports betting options. This matches up well against some of TonyBet’s online sportsbook competitors like bet365, which offers 40 sports and hundreds of betting choices.
Another big player both internationally and in the Canadian market is 888Sport. When I checked its site, I found that it has 32 sports markets.
I was also pleased to see that Tonybet doesn’t just offer regular sports. The sportsbook also offers wagering on virtual sports such as eSoccer and eBasketball. Additionally, it offers several esports betting options, including Counter-Strike, Dota, and more.
I think that the TonyBet sports offering is worth the high score I’ve given it, as it stands up so well alongside its competitors and doesn’t just offer classic sports. I did knock a few points off for the lack of any horse racing bets though.
Additional market details: American football is hugely popular in Canada and it’s well-represented on the TonyBet website. All of the major leagues are covered here including the Canadian Football League (CFL). Bettors can build parlays that span the whole season if they want to, or place single bets including moneylines and over/unders.
Additional market details: No Canadian sportsbook is complete without a selection of hockey bets. TonyBet covers the top hockey leagues across the world including VHL in Russia, DEL in Germany and the Women’s World Championship. So, there are plenty of matches to choose from on this site.
Betting features
It is not enough for a betting site like TonyBet Canada to provide a lot of sports and betting options. The sportsbook also needs to give bettors excellent betting features, so that they can make the most of their choices.
TonyBet provides sports bettors with an excellent bet builder on its bet slip. Depending on the sport, you can place a single bet or build a parlay bet, including same game parlays.
There are also numerous options for live betting with a very handy cashout feature offered on some games. If you don’t think the game is going your way, TonyBet lets you close the bet before the game has ended.

The TonyBet sports betting site has a nice ‘Top Events’ feature on the right of the screen. It highlights the events that are the most popular with its players. This can be very useful if you’re stuck for wagering ideas.
Betting features rating
- Partial cashouts
- Bet builder parlays
- ‘Top Events’ highlighted
- No system bets
The betting features on this site are up there with the best sportsbooks in Ontario. Features like the bet builder, same game parlay, point spreads, and live betting, take TonyBet into the top tier of betting sites.
When I compared TonyBet online sportsbook to BetVictor, I found that BetVictor just had the edge. It offers partial cashouts as well as full cashouts and a bet boost feature, which is a nice touch.
When I looked at Neo.bet, I found that it offers system bets, which TonyBet doesn’t. I do like this type of bet, so it’s disappointing to not see it here.
However, it’s not all bad! TonyBet does have some great sports betting features that are easy to use and very handy. I liked the range of sports with live betting options, but if you want live streaming, this is only available when you join and login in to your TonyBet account.
Overall, I think that the high score that I have given this sportsbook is well deserved. Yes, some things are missing, like system bets and bet boosts, but in general it has some great features that allow you to place bets easily.
Additional features: The bet builder lets you either build single bets or parlays. Parlays, otherwise known as accumulators or multis, are a number of single bets grouped together to form one big bet. If all of these single bets win, then you win the parlay. However, if you lose any one of the legs, then you lose the whole parlay bet.
Odds
One of the most important things at any sportsbook is the odds that it gives. That’s why we always take the time to look carefully at the odds at any sportsbook we’re reviewing.
Since odds are always fluctuating, one easy way to assess how competitive the odds are is to look at payout percentages. We consider a payout percentage of between 95% – 97% to be very good to excellent, respectively. If a sportsbook offers payouts of less than 93%, we generally don’t give it a high score.
TonyBet’s average payout across all sports is 94%. While this is a bit shy of the 95% mark, there is quite a lot of variation in the odds for different sports.
Odds facts
Category | Details |
---|---|
Average payout | 94.00% |
Boosted odds | No |
Parlay boosts | Yes |
Line movement | Moderate |
The odds for live or in play bets can change rapidly as the match or game progresses. Therefore, the live payout percentages are expected to be at least 2 percentage points below the average for non-live bets. At TonyBet the average percentage for live payouts is 93.75%.
Odds rating
- High basketball payouts
- Good odds for football
- Strong live betting odds
- No bet boosts
I found that this aspect of the site was a mixed bag. Tonybet sportsbook does have a huge number of sports betting options to choose from after you’ve made your initial deposit, but the odds on some sports can be low.
The variation in the odds across sports brings TonyBet Canada’s overall average payout percentage down compared to other reviewed sports-betting sites. Betano’s average payout is marginally better at 94.96%, but there is less variation across sports.
Betsafe has a smaller number of sports to bet on, at 30, but it has an average payout of 95.02%. Again, this is because it’s payouts across sports is more consistent.
One thing I did really like about the TonyBet website is that the odds update live, so you don’t need to refresh your screen. This is very useful when it comes to live betting, as the odds change so quickly that you really need to be fast to catch them.
I think overall TonyBet sportsbook doesn’t do badly on odds. However, it’s not as impressive as some of its competitors.

Payments rating
- Four popular methods
- Low C$10 minimum withdrawal
- No e-wallets
I do like it when a sportsbook appreciates the need for a wide range of betting payment methods. So, I’m somewhat disappointed with the four on offer at TonyBets, but the four are all safe and reputable — so no major qualms here.
Competitors like Bally Bet, for example, fall in the same bracket as TonyBet, and I find that as long as bank transfers and cards are accepted, then one could hardly make a case against limitations here.
In other markets, TonyBet stands out with an exceptional variety of payment options. My hope is that the same diversity will make its way to Ontario eventually.
Safety
TonyBet sportsbook is licensed the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and has an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario, which means that it can operate in Ontario legally.
The sportsbook uses 256-bit SSL encryption to protect players’ data whenever it is sent to or from the sportsbook.

Safety rating
- 256-bit encryption used
- Good responsible gaming tools
- 2FA available
- Flagged by security software
Apart from ticking the boxes of industry-standard safety measures, I was pleased to see that the sportsbook also has a number of responsible gaming tools. This compares well to PointsBet and other licensed competitors, which have a similar number of options, including the ability to set limits on bets.
Additionally, TonyBet sports does clearly list all the organisations that players can turn to if they need help managing play. In my books, such resources should be on prominent display at all times; thus, bonus points for TonyBet.
Overall, I feel that TonyBet has done a competent job with its safety features, but has not really gone above and beyond for an online sportsbook or casino. What leaves question is the regular warning flags I get from my security software, often blocking access due to unverified SSL certification.
However, our data analyst confirms that the site used 256-bit SSL during our last data verification, so no heavy points were lifted here.
Support
As well as a small FAQ section, TonyBet has two contact channels: email support and a 24/7 live chat. The live chat box is sticky and can be found on the bottom right side of the page.
Support facts

Customer support availability | 24/7 |

On-page support | FAQs |
Although TonyBet does have an email, the website states that it can take up to 24 hours to get a response. However, the live chat responds immediately within the chat window.
Support rating
- Chat responds immediately
- Email support available
- 24/7 support
- Limited FAQs
Having tried out all the customer support options on this site, I don’t think TonyBet has done a bad job. It offers two good contact options, with the chat being available 24/7.
For the vast majority of punters, myself included, 24/7 chat suffices. The only room for improvement in terms of channels would be phone support, but in my experience few players seek this method out.
I am a bit disappointed with the FAQ, but am pleased to say that TonyBet has made strides of improvement here. What used to be a five-question blurb of nothing is now a fully fledged help section, with a good-enough quality of answers.
What could be better? Clarity and usability. Bet365’s Help Centre is always my go-to for comparison here; the bookie offers detailed payment breakdowns, a well-structured list of queries, and informative responses that don’t require additional digging. Unfortunately, that’s not the case with TonyBet’s FAQ.
However, I was really impressed with TonyBet’s live chat. The customer support agents responded really quickly to my queries and their responses were very helpful. They even included additional information without prompting. Gold-star team!
Platform
The platform and usability of a website shouldn’t be something a player should notice when making a wager on a sportsbook or at an online casino. However, they are both essential to the quality of the player’s experience.
The best websites have a very stable platform across desktops, laptops, and mobile devices, and a consistent approach to usability across devices. If they do have a mobile app, like TonyBet, it should function in a similar way to the desktop site.

The TonyBet sportsbook app (there is no TonyBet casino app) does achieve this. Its design is very similar to the desktop version, so it feels familiar. The platform itself is stable across devices, so there aren’t any noticeable glitches.

Platform rating
- Site runs smoothly
- Platform is stable
- Intuitive TonyBet mobile app
- Displays too many games
TonyBet really had quite a task on its hands when it designed and built the website and app. This is because it has so many sports betting options, and they all have so many betting choices. I can see that’s a lot of information to fit into any site.
The sportsbook has managed to fit it all in, but I think that it can be overwhelming, especially for someone who’s new to sports betting. LeoVegas also offers markets in 30+ sports, but the site feels much less cluttered.
I do like the TonyBet mobile app though. Nowadays, not many sportsbooks provide an app, for example, Rivalry doesn’t have an app. So I did add a couple of points for the fact that TonyBet has given players the choice between a browser-based site and an app.
I actually found the TonyBet mobile app easier to use than the website. There is less going on in the content area, so I found it easier to focus on the bets.
