A hefty max win takes the cake here, as it’s the most outstanding perk of playing Buffalo Blitz.

Similarly dated games, like the 9 Masks of Fire slot by Games Global, cap out at 2,000x. In contrast, they also offer higher RTPs and lower volatility. So it’s a trade-off.

As expected of high-variance slots, I didn’t manage to score many wins (let alone big ones). Granted, my test sample was 300 spins, so it’s not nearly enough to reflect variance and RTP, but it did leave me with a larger hole in my pocket.

Though some players might miss the lower minimum bet option, the maximum stake will appeal to high-rollers who seek a larger payout opportunity.

The range does offer flexibility, especially as smaller stakes can still trigger the game’s Free Spins bonus and multipliers.

Although the range of stakes in Buffalo Blitz was wide enough for me, I can see why more casual players might be put off by the minimum $0.40 per spin.

With hundreds of penny slots on the market, a minimum above C$0.20 is considered steep. Couple that with high volatility, and you have my “no, thank you”.

Though there are fewer bonus options compared to other online slots, the high win potential during free spins adds to the game’s appeal. 

The biggest upside is the infinite retrigger of the bonus games, where you can snag up to 100 free spins and 2x, 3x, and 5x multipliers. Landing the mega combo just twice in a row will yield a hefty payout.

The best I got was eight free games (twice) over 300 spins, so can’t vouch for the generosity there.

I think Playtech could have done more in terms of bonuses for Buffalo Blitz. What’s there is great, but with more variety and features, the game would’ve retained my attention longer.

The Free Spins and multipliers combined do give you the potential to win large sums, but coupled with the high volatility, I found my patience wearing thin. 

Buffalo Blitz’s audiovisual experience disappointed me a little. I haven’t touched the game in some time, and now I remember why: it’s simply a little stale.

I love the wildlife theme, but it’s been executed into oblivion — at times to much better standard. The graphics are painfully old

If you like Wolf Gold or Buffalo King, you’ll like Buffalo Blitz. If you prefer something like Silverback Gold or Great Rhino Megaways, then you don’t find the same production quality here.

I did like the soundtrack. It’s also heavily dated, but it’s perfectly mellow for my taste. It’s reminiscent of Lord of the Rings more so than the wilderness though.

Unfortunately, the sharp reel-spin and win sounds were a stark contrast, and highly unenjoyable.

Another plus is a seamless experience on mobile, with no lags or bugs, but I do wish the sound effects were toned down and the animations crisped up.

Buffalo Blitz has a great layout, and by “great” I mean it’s simple and easy to use.

I look for simplicity above all, because the slot must be straightforward enough for anyone to pick up. Sometimes innovation complicates things; a simple ‘Spin’ button is all you really need.

In my view, this makes it a great game for those who are new to slots, though more experienced players might prefer more advanced interfaces with a cleaner look.

I found this ease of control meant I could get into the action of the game straight away, which certainly appeals to me.

For the downsides, the big fonts paired with gold-yellow borders take all the attention from the reels. Simple is good, but a better balance can be struck.

When playing Buffalo Blitz, it is easy to be engaged initially but after a while, I found my interest dropped off.

This is largely due to the repetitive nature of the game, its lack of variety in bonuses, and the very outdated aesthetic.

It’s a great game for a time but these elements — or lack thereof — make it difficult to sustain extended play after a while.

I prefer the slot’s sequel, Buffalo Blitz II. It presents a slightly updated look and feel in tandem with a boosted bonus round (more multipliers).
