New York continues to take a tough stance against sweepstakes casinos. It has progressively banned sweepstakes since summer 2025. The crackdown began on June 6th, when New York Attorney General Letitia James announced that her office had ceased operations of 26 sweepstakes casino operators within the state. These efforts culminated in December 2025, when the state officially signed a comprehensive statutory ban into law, permanently closing the door on traditional sweepstakes models.
