Expert verdict

My PlayFame sweepstake review has the fine print you need to read before signing up. The first thing you need to know is that although PlayFame calls itself a social casino, it’s actually a sweepstakes casino. This is misleading, especially since it’s listed in the footer and more than once in the terms and conditions.

To non-members, all references to SC and sweepstakes are hidden, but this all becomes available after registration. That doesn’t make this a bad sweeps casino, but it’s not a transparent one either.

There are some positive aspects to PlayFame. For starters, it’s got 1,472 games, and that includes live games from more than one provider. There’s a strong variety of slots, and jackpots are available, too.

It’s got a good range of coin packages and some interesting promos. A friend referral is always a welcome addition, but at PlayFame, it comes with some conditions, and it’s the same story for the creator referral. There aren’t promos like coin boosts or a VIP club, but you can claim virtual coins through social media competitions.

PlayFame has some other areas that I’m not so happy with. The customer support, for instance, is disorganized. The contact information isn’t in one place, and the live chat feature is unlocked when you make a purchase, which feels like gatekeeping support.

When it comes to PlayFame, I’d recommend proceeding with caution. There are many positives, but the lack of transparency and hard-to-access support might make it a bumpy experience.

State differences

PlayFame can’t be played from the following 15 states: Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Washington, or West Virginia.

Players from Florida can redeem prizes for a maximum of $5,000 per spin or per play. In other states, players can redeem prizes for a maximum of $10,000 per day.

How does PlayFame casino work?

There are two virtual coins available at PlayFame: Gold Coins (GC) and Sweepstakes Coins (SC). GCs are used to play games to win more GC. They can’t be redeemed for a prize, but they can also be acquired through daily login bonuses or coin packs.

SCs can also be acquired through bonuses or as part of a coin pack. They can be used to play games for more SC, but they can also be redeemed for prizes. At PlayFame, SC can be redeemed for cash prizes and gift cards.

Bonuses and loyalty at PlayFame

After registering at PlayFame, players receive 7,500 GC and 2.5 SC. Verification isn’t required to receive this welcome bonus, and the coins can be used to play games immediately.

PlayFame has a progressive daily login bonus system, awarding players different amounts of GC and SC every day they log in. These are the virtual coin amounts awarded:

  • Day 1: 1,500 GC and 0.20 SC
  • Day 2: 2,000 GC and 0.25 SC
  • Day 3: 1,250 GC and 0.35 SC
  • Day 4: 750 GC and 0.20 SC
  • Day 5: 500 GC and 0.25 SC
  • Day 6: 700 GC and 0.35 SC
  • Day 7: 800 GC and 0.40 SC

For some additional virtual coins, players can claim the refer-a-friend bonus. With the refer-a-friend bonus, players can claim up to 160,000 GC and 70 SC. The first 60,000 GC and 20 SC are awarded when the referred friend makes a purchase of over $50. The remaining 100,000 GC and 50 SC are awarded if the friend makes additional purchases of $900 or more.

Alternatively, if you know a creator, you can invite them to become a PlayFame creator and claim your SC reward. The size of the SC reward is determined by the creator’s number of followers, with 5,000 SC being the maximum reward.

The sweeps casino’s Mega 1st Purchase Offer coin package awards players 60,000 GC and 25 SC free for $9.99. There’s also the free SC spins offer, which grants players 50,000 GC and 25 SC free spins.

PlayFame also offers seasonal GC packages from time to time. The sweeps casino doesn’t have a VIP club or loyalty program, so the VIP Offer is independent of any other feature.

Players can also claim GC and SC via social media, where it advertises tournaments and opportunities to win virtual coins. The sweeps casino also hosts tournaments, like the Liberty Spins tournament, which offers players the chance to win a share of the 16,000,000 GC and 8,000 free SC prize pool.

PlayFame players can also opt in for the SC in-house jackpot to win free SC prizes. There are four SC jackpots, and the SC Grand jackpot is worth 100,000 SC. There’s also the GC in-house jackpot, which all players are automatically entered into. Players can trigger one of the four jackpots with every spin, with the GC Grand jackpot worth 200,000,000 GC.

Bonus rating

73/100 Some good stuff, but low-value sign-up bonus
  • Tournaments and jackpots
  • Friend and creator referrals
  • Only 2.5 SC with sign-up bonus
  • No VIP club

The sign-up bonus is smaller than I was expecting. The 7,500 GC is low, especially if you compare it to others in the market. SweepNext grants new players 30,000 GC. It has a low-value SC bonus, but at least you get three whole SC, not two and a half SC.

The daily log-in bonus is a standard, and always good to have, although PlayFame is a little frugal in this area, too. The SC I could claim in my first week was between 0.20 SC and 0.40 SC, not even one SC.

I was also disappointed to see that even though it is a progressive system, you aren’t rewarded with a higher amount of virtual coins each day; in fact, sometimes it’s less than the day before.

The friend and creator referral bonuses have some good rewards, but they come with conditions that might be hard to meet, so your reward isn’t guaranteed. It helps that you can claim GC and SC via social media competitions and the jackpots, as otherwise, there aren’t many opportunities. PlayFame doesn’t even have a VIP club with perks and rewards.

Games available at PlayFame

PlayFame has 1,472 games, including slots, jackpots, and live casino games. The biggest portion of games consists of slots, with 1,400+ available. This includes 79 Hold and Win games, 36 cascading reels, 68 Megaways, and 149 feature games.

There are also 31 exclusive games available from providers like 3Oaks and Pragmatic Play, not including the four GC exclusive games from Pragmatic Play. For players who enjoy jackpots, there are 11 options available under the Jackpot Play category.

There aren’t any table games, but PlayFame has 16 live games. This includes high-quality streams of blackjack, roulette, and baccarat live dealer games. There are also some game shows.

PlayFame has an Unlimited Play section, where players can play a few games for a minimum spin of one GC or a maximum spin of two GC. The minimum and maximum spins on the other games vary, with some games having a minimum of five GC, 40 GC, or even as high as 200 GC. The most common is 70 GC.

Games rating

88/100 Strong game variety, including live games
  • 1,400+ slots
  • 16 live games
  • No table games
  • RTPs not listed

1,472 games is a strong number for any sweeps casino, which gives PlayFame an edge in the market. I was also pleased to see the variety of games. Yeah, it’s mostly slots, but that includes Hold and Wins, Megaways, and slots with special features. Plus, there’s a whole jackpot section, which many players look out for.

There are some cool features in the PlayFame game lobby. The Unlimited Play section, for instance, lets players play with smaller GC amounts without compromising the gaming experience.

PlayFame is relatively transparent about its game specs. When you select a game, before it starts, you’re shown the minimum and maximum coin values for both GC and SC, the game’s volatility, and the maximum win multiplier. I’d have liked to see the RTP included in this list, but it’s good to have these specs before starting a new game.

Poker is also completely missing from the PlayFame lineup, so poker fans will be disappointed. If you’re a poker player, I recommend trying Global Poker. It has fewer slots, but also offers table games and poker tournaments.

98/100 34 game providers with key names included
  • 3 live games providers
  • No download required
  • No table game providers
  • No bespoke software

34 software providers for a sweeps casino is a great number – in fact, it’s pretty rare. To compare, most sweeps casinos, like Stake.us, have 23–24 providers. Smaller ones, like Luckyland, have about six.

There isn’t any bespoke software, but PlayFame works with key providers like Pragmatic Play, Habanero, and Relax Gaming, which curate a stronger game offering.

These providers are sought after by players because they guarantee high-quality games. They also produce some of the most popular games, making PlayFame a more attractive sweeps casino.

PlayFame has three live games providers, too, which is a big bonus. Although ICONIC21 is the main provider, PlayTech and Vivo contribute seven live games collectively, which is almost half of the live games collection.

Payment methods accepted at PlayFame

PlayFame has four available payment methods. These are cards, including VISA, Mastercard, and Discover, and cryptocurrencies. The cryptocurrencies available are: Litecoin, USDT, USDC, Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, and Ethereum.

Litecoin is PlayFame’s preferred cryptocurrency, while Ethereum has a minimum purchase limit of $13.86, and Bitcoin has a minimum of $54.69. USDT is available on the Tron, Ethereum, and Binance Coin networks, while USDC is available via Solana, Ethereum, and Binance Coin.

All methods can be used to make purchases and for redemptions. Any SC earned through crypto can only be redeemed with crypto. If you want to swap payment methods, your balances for both GC and SC need to be at zero.

The redemption methods available are gift cards and cash prizes. There’s a minimum redemption amount of 10 SC for gift cards, and a minimum of 75 SC for cash prizes.

All SC must be played through at least once before requesting a redemption. Cash prizes are processed within 3–5 business days, while gift cards are processed instantly. PlayFame can only process one prize redemption every 48 hours.

Floridian players can redeem prizes for a maximum of $5,000 per spin or per play, while all other states can redeem prizes for a maximum of $10,000 per day.

PlayFame has 12 coin packages that you can buy. Purchasing any of the packages gives you access to the live chat feature, which is otherwise unavailable, and access to exclusive GC games. The smallest coin package is worth $1.99 for 4,000 GC.

Payments rating

81/100 Standard redemptions with crypto options available
  • 6 cryptocurrencies accepted
  • 10 SC minimum for gift cards
  • No e-wallets accepted
  • 3–5 days to process cash prizes

PlayFame performs well when it comes to payments. The two redemption options are classic: gift cards and cash prizes. It was great to see that the minimum for gift cards is accessible at just 10 SC. 75 SC as a minimum for cash prizes is ok, but it can always be lower. Crown Coins, for instance, has a minimum of 50 SC.

A big plus with PlayFame is that cryptocurrencies are available for both purchases and redemptions. Crypto users need to stick to crypto for both purchases and redemptions, so keep that in mind. It might be a hassle to get your balances down to zero to make a swap, but if you’re happy with crypto you won’t need to change.

The sweeps casino also has a decent selection of cryptocurrencies it accepts, giving players a comfortable choice. That being said, the minimum purchase amounts for Bitcoin and Ethereum are high, especially when almost half the coin packages you can purchase are under $20, and three of those are under $10.

There also aren’t any e-wallets available, like PayPal, which is a shame as these are a faster payment method. The 3–5 day processing time for cash prizes is slow, considering the industry average is under 48 hours.

Is PlayFame safe?

PlayFame is encrypted with 256-bit with ECDSA technology, so your information is secure. Your account needs to be verified after registration, as part of PlayFame’s security measures, and so that you can make redemption requests.

For verification, you need to provide a government ID and proof of address. For a government ID, you can submit your ID card, passport, or driving license. PlayFame will also need a selfie of you to make sure it matches the photo on your document.

For proof of address, this can be done with a utility bill, a phone bill, or a bank statement. Make sure the image is high quality and that the document is less than 90 days old. These documents can all be submitted through the verification page.

PlayFame has a dedicated RG page that has information on how to recognize problematic gameplay, how to stay safe, and links to external resources that offer professional support, including Smart Mobile Gamers, NPR, Smart Social Gamers, and Gaming Addicts Anonymous.

There are two RG tools available: GC limits and self-exclusion. GC limits can be set on a daily basis and determine how much you can spend on a GC package. There are two options for self-exclusion. Players can either opt to take a break, which lasts for seven, 14, or 30 days.

The other option is full self-exclusion, which can be set for a minimum of six months and can last for as long as needed. This option limits your access to your account more extensively than taking a break. In both cases, you can’t modify the period requested until it’s finished.

During any self-exclusion period, your account remains inactive, and once your account is reactivated, your virtual coins will be reinstated. To set up any RG tools, players need to reach out to customer support via the contact form.

Safety rating

70/100 Standard RG information and basic tools available
  • RG tools available
  • Dedicated player safety page
  • Only three RG tools available
  • Calls itself a social casino

From a technical standpoint, PlayFame’s got the standard security measures in place, such as verification procedures. ECDSA 256-bit encryption is great to see, as this means PlayFame is putting security first and going above the standard RSA technology.

There’s no reference to its games being provably fair, though, which is something players always appreciate seeing. With providers like Pragmatic Play, however, players can be reassured that the games are audited.

When it comes to RG, it’s pretty standard, too. The dedicated page has useful information, with more than one external resource listed. There are only three tools available, which is a little limited, but they’re good tools. GC purchase limits are great to have, and choosing between a break and self-exclusion gives players more power over their time at the casino.

It’s a little concerning that you can only set up any RG tools using the contact form, since there’ll be a waiting time. If you’ve made a purchase and acquired access to the live chat feature, it might be possible, but PlayFame’s terms don’t mention it at all.

Although it doesn’t present a risk to your safety when using the sweeps casino, I also can’t ignore that PlayFame repeatedly labels itself as a social casino, even in its terms. It’s not transparent, which is misleading and unethical.

Before signing up to PlayFame, it only advertises GC in its sign-up bonus and any references to sweeps and SC are hidden. Once you do sign up, surprise, surprise, you’ve been awarded two and a half SC.

For players looking for a social casino experience, it’s misleading. And those looking for a sweeps casino experience might totally overlook PlayFame.

Reaching out to support at PlayFame

PlayFame has five ways of getting assistance. These are its contact form, email, live chat, phone number, and the FAQs page in the Help Center. The contact form has a selection of potential queries for you to choose from its drop-down menu. After that, you can fill in your email address, account ID, subject line, and a description of your issues. You can also upload attachments if needed.

After support answers your query made via the contact form, you can continue speaking with the agent via email. You can also find PlayFame’s email address, [email protected], in the sweep casino’s terms and conditions.

Support rating

77/100 Support is available on condition
  • 24/7 support
  • Decent FAQs
  • Support info not organized
  • Paid live chat

I have a few issues with the support offered at PlayFame. Yes, there are five ways of getting support, but they need some work.

The biggest issue is that the live chat feature has to be unlocked by buying a coin package. Customer support shouldn’t be a feature players need to unlock, but should be readily available.

PlayFame’s support features are also scattered across the site, meaning getting support is something you need to track down and secure.

The email is buried in the terms and conditions, and the phone number is in the footer. There is a button for a help center in the sidebar menu, but this only takes you to the FAQs and the contact form. All the support information should be easily accessible and located in the same place: i.e., the help center.

This is also an issue when it comes to setting up RG tools. Since the contact information is spread out, it becomes hard to figure out how and where to reach out to support to activate said tools.

Fortunately, the experience I had with customer support was positive. It took an agent over five hours to answer my queries, both via contact form and email, but the answers received were friendly and helpful. The FAQs also contain a lot of useful tips and information, so it’s a good starting point while you wait for support to contact you.

For responsive and proactive customer support, I recommend trying SpeedSweeps. Its live chat system is readily available, even to non-members, and the responses given are always detailed.

The usability of PlayFame’s platform

PlayFame has a purple theme, with different shades of purple used to indicate boxes, buttons, and to add texture and shading to the design. The ‘Get Coins’ button is bubblegum pink to add some pop. PlayFame uses 3-D character illustrations with each of its promotion packages.

PlayFame homepage on two mobile devices

When it comes to functionality, PlayFame runs smoothly and has a quick response time. Its navigation is good, although in some areas it feels like links are missing. This can be seen most clearly with the support.

The help center only contains the FAQs and the contact form. The phone number is in the footer and the email address is in the terms and conditions, so players need to look around to find them.

The lobby is straightforward to navigate, with several filters available at the top. These can also be found in the sidebar menu. The filters are by game type, such as Hold and Win or Megaways, but also include filters like Classic, Popular, Feature, and Cascading Reels.

If you’re looking for a more direct approach, the search bar is found at the top of the page. The search bar is simple and can be used to search for games and providers.

The sidebar contains some other useful quick access buttons, like redemptions, get coins, promotions, your profile, the RG page, and links to PlayFame’s various social media pages.

PlayFame has a web app that you can install a shortcut for. It runs smoothly, and you can expect the same experience when you transition to mobile.

Usability rating

87/100 A welcoming design that needs some tweaking
  • Works well with smaller screens
  • Decent navigation
  • Support information badly organized
  • Not all games under the correct filters

PlayFame is pretty straightforward to use and offers a standard sweeps experience. The design is cool, easy on the eyes, and draws your attention to what’s important without being too distracting when it comes to the games. The web app works fine, and if you want to go mobile, the sweeps casino will adjust smoothly to the smaller screen.

There are some obvious areas, though, where the navigation needs some cleaning up. The support area is one of these. The information is scattered around, instead of being on one page, to make it as simple as possible. It makes it feel like the sweeps casino doesn’t want you to ask for help.

I think the game lobby could use some tweaking, too. There’s a great selection of filters, although Megaways isn’t included in the options on the side-bar, even if it’s present in the lobby.

Apart from that, not all of the relevant games are listed under the right filters. There are only 300 slots listed under the slots filter, which is impossible when there are over 1,400 games.

In the live casino section, only three of the six roulette games are listed, and if you choose Live Dealer from the side bar menu, only the ICONIC21 games are listed. If you select Live Dealer from within the lobby, all the live games are listed, including the game shows.

Details like this make the categories feel incomplete, and it means you’re more likely to find certain games by accident, or if you’re searching for them.
