Expert verdict for FanDuel sportsbook

This FanDuel sportsbook review has broken down the pros and cons of using this popular online sportsbook. While there are certainly a few downsides to wagering with FanDuel (hey, nobody’s perfect), I believe the pros outweigh the cons. FanDuel is a pretty solid sportsbook with an excellent no-risk signup bonus. What more could you ask for?

The site’s ease of navigation and overall attractiveness is comparable to other major online sportsbooks. They boast a good number of sporting events and overall markets to choose from, and the odds and payouts are par for the course. When wagering through any online sportsbook, you expect your information to remain secure. FanDuel doesn’t disappoint in this category either.

FanDuel’s 24/7 support is nice, but the live chat response could be a bit quicker. While their eight acceptable payment methods are sufficient, there’s always room for a couple more alternatives. I’d also like to see more unique markets for something (space alien attacks, maybe?) other than sports. A search bar would also be a wonderful addition to the platform.

FanDuel sportsbook states

This FanDuel online sportsbook review looks specifically at FanDuel New Jersey. In this section, we’ll explore the other states where the FanDuel sportsbook is available. As of right now, gamers in twelve states such as Connecticut are eligible to place bets online through the FanDuel sportsbook, with Louisiana, Maryland, New York, and Wyoming set to join the roster. With the continued expansion of legalized sports betting within the United States, this number is sure to increase over time.

Let’s have a quick look at some of the currently eligible states in the next section of our FanDuel online sportsbook review.

FanDuel sportsbook bonuses and promotions

Everyone loves a good bonus, right? FanDuel offers a risk-free bet of up to $1,000 upon sign-up. The sportsbook also offers league-specific bonuses like TNT Tuesdays for the NBA, NHL parlay insurance, and boosted odds for some NFL games.

As far as bonuses go, FanDuel is pretty much on par with other major online sportsbooks, and thus definitely worth exploring.

This FanDuel online sportsbook review is based on categories like bonuses, odds, payouts, markets, etc. As with our casino and software reviews, we also take into account safety and support. While a lot of this information is objective, a good bit of the ratings system relies on opinion. We do our best to determine which sportsbooks are worth your time and money, but keep in mind that our expert ratings are somewhat subjective in nature.

Bonus rating

88/100 Great welcome bonus and plenty of bonuses for existing players
  • Excellent no-risk signup bonus
  • Holiday-themed bonuses
  • Boosted odds
  • No VIP program

Is it really gambling if you get your money back after a loss? FanDuel’s signup bonus allows you to place a no-risk bet of up to $1,000. If you lose, you’ll be credited back the amount of your wager. I really like no-risk bonuses, and FanDuel’s is about as generous as it gets. (The same $1,000 no-risk bonus is available for the casino as well, for a total of $2,000 sitewide.)

If you already have a FanDuel account, don’t worry; there are plenty of other bonuses available for existing players. They offer a referral bonus of $50 for the sportsbook, and there are a few promotions tied to specific leagues. TNT Tuesdays, for example, allow you to receive $10 in site credit for same game parlay wagers, win or lose. Holiday-specific bonuses are available throughout the year as well; FanDuel’s Black Friday 2021 promo gives you a $50 no-deposit bonus just for signing up.

When it comes to bonuses, FanDuel is very generous. However, I’d like to see a VIP program like SugarHouse sportsbook has. It’s nice to be rewarded for loyalty, and I feel like this is one area where FanDuel is lacking. Overall, though, FanDuel is pretty solid in the bonus category.

FanDuel sportsbook promo code/bonus code

In order to claim the generous no-risk wager signup bonus, you’ll simply need to create an account and place a bet. If you lose, you’ll be credited with the amount of your wager up to $1,000. You don’t need a FanDuel sportsbook promo code/bonus code to claim this bonus.

FanDuel online sportsbook review: sports and markets

One of the main factors to consider when looking for a good sportsbook is the overall availability of the most popular sports. If you’re into betting on the “big three” American sports — football, baseball, and basketball —  then FanDuel’s got you covered. In fact, pretty much any sport you’d like to see in a solid sportsbook is available on FanDuel’s sportsbook New Jersey site. (This is the site we refer to in this review unless otherwise noted. We’ll look at other states in the appropriate section).

When it comes to some of the more obscure sports, other sites may offer a little deeper roster. At present, there aren’t any other unique offerings aside from sports. If you’d like to wager on the current season’s winner of the reality game show Survivor, for example, you’ll need to look at another site like Bovada to place your bet.

Sports and markets rating

76/100 Good range of sporting events
  • Top sports offered
  • A lot of different markets
  • No unique markets other than sports

If you’re looking to bet on the top sports here in the US and abroad, FanDuel is a good place to start. You’ll find lots of markets for NBA, NFL, and MLB games. If you’re a soccer fan, you’ll be able to bet on MLS and Premier League matches as well. FanDuel scores high marks for the total number of markets offered; with over 150 markets for football alone, you’re sure to find something interesting to put some money on. Player-specific markets are a favorite of mine, and FanDuel doesn’t disappoint.

I would like to see some unique offerings in addition to sports. While FanDuel does an excellent job of providing a lot of different sports markets, it’s fun to mix it up and place some crazy wagers every now and then. BetOnline actually allows you to place a bet on which country you think will be the first to experience an alien attack. Wow.

Building your bet with FanDuel sportsbook

A site’s betting features should play a large role in determining which sportsbook to use. After all, if a sportsbook fails to deliver a smooth, accessible betting experience, why bother with it in the first place? FanDuel earns checkmarks for ease of navigation, live betting, live streaming, and accurate live ticker data. Betbuilder and quick bets are also readily available to maximize user experience.

100/100 All of the betting features you’d expect from a premium sportsbook
  • Betbuilding feature
  • Smooth and intuitive navigation
  • Updated odds
  • None

If you score 100 out of 100, you’re obviously doing something right. FanDuel’s betting features include everything you would expect to find on a leading sportsbook site. I especially like the live features; live streaming allows you to watch some of the action as it unfolds. The live ticker and lightning quick odds updates allow you to follow and bet on events in real time. Sometimes you just want to bet on the fly, and these features allow you to do so with ease.

The FanDuel sportsbook app and desktop site are a breeze to navigate as well. Accessing and placing bets on the hundreds of markets available really couldn’t be easier. You can build your bets as you see fit, and the possible parlays seem endless. There are other operators whose betting features are as good as FanDuel’s, but you’d be hard-pressed to find one whose features are better.

FanDuel hits it out of the park in this category.

What’re the odds? A look at FanDuel sportsbook’s payouts

If you know more about slots than you do about online sports betting, you can liken a sportsbook’s odds to a slot’s RTP. A good industry-wide average for RTP is around 96% —  the same can be said for sportsbook odds. The overall FanDuel sportsbook odds are just a shade below 96%, while its basketball and football odds are a tad above. Odds for live betting drop off to around 93%, but that’s hardly insane; live odds are usually lower, for obvious reasons.

Odds rating

85/100 Average payouts with a few boosted odds
  • Boosted odds
  • Parlay boosts
  • Excellent inplay
  • Low live betting payouts

FanDuel’s payouts percentage is pretty much on par with the industry average. However, the odds for live betting are a bit low at around 93%. If this number were more in line with the payouts for basketball and football, the overall percentage would definitely hit the 96% mark. FanDuel should think about increasing the odds for live bets.

Offering boosted odds and parlay boosts are great ways to generate more action, and FanDuel always runs these types of promotions. Not to be greedy, but I’d like to see more markets with boosted odds; there are typically only a handful for the entirety of FanDuel’s sports offerings. On a brighter note, the FanDuel sportsbook payouts are accessible and transparent.

Making your FanDuel sportsbook deposits and withdrawals

Any reputable online sportsbook will have a good range of payment options with which to fund your account. Visa, Mastercard, and PayPal are all top payment methods that can be found pretty much anywhere. FanDuel offers these three options along with five others, for a total of eight. For comparison, DraftKings sportsbook only offers five methods.

Whether you prefer using a digital wallet like PayPal, credit cards like Visa or Mastercard, or wire transfer, the FanDuel sportsbook has you covered.

Payments rating

80/100 A good amount of payment options to fund your account
  • Eight payment methods accepted
  • No digital wallet alternatives to PayPal

As far as payment methods are concerned, FanDuel pretty much covers all the bases. With eight different payment methods, you’re sure to find at least one you’d like to use to fund your account. However, I would like to see a few of the more obscure payment methods offered by other operators. Skrill, for example, is an excellent digital wallet that’s an alternative for those who don’t want to use PayPal.

Inside FanDuel’s safety and transparency

Safety is an extremely important factor to consider when deciding on an online sportsbook. FanDuel uses the standard 256-bit encryption and has all of the typical safety measures you’d expect from a reputable site in place. One unique feature is FanDuel’s Bug Bounty Program that pays people to alert the site of any security vulnerabilities. FanDuel has a partnership with HackerOne to run the program and stay ahead of potential threats.

So, what’s the verdict on safety for this FanDuel online sportsbook review? Glad you asked.

Safety rating

97/100 Safety and transparency you can trust
  • Self-exclusion
  • 2-step authentication
  • SSL encryption
  • Terms could be more transparent

Let’s face it, there’s only so much you can do as far as online security is concerned in this day and age. This FanDuel sportsbook review wouldn’t be complete without looking at safety and transparency.

I believe FanDuel does a good job of providing the same security you’d get from comparable sportsbooks, with their SSL encryption and 2-step verification. I had to dig a little to see the full terms and security details, though.

FanDuel rewards people who report new security vulnerabilities through their Vulnerability Disclosure Policy. The operator has partnered with HackerOne to implement a Bug Bounty Program that allows anyone to support security threats. It’s extra steps like this one that can really make a difference in safety.

In addition to learning about these and other available tools, the Responsible Gaming section includes resources for help with problem gambling.

FanDuel sportsbook customer support

FanDuel’s customer support options include live chat, email, and an FAQs page. Their 24/7 support places FanDuel in the front of the pack in this category. They also get increased marks for having several channels of communication, but how reliable is their customer support?

80/100 24/7 support, but you’ll have to wait
  • 24/7 customer support
  • Live chat
  • Email support
  • No phone support, Long wait times

In a perfect world, there would be no war or famine, and we’d never need to reach out to customer support for anything. Too bad we don’t live in a perfect world. FanDuel offers 24/7 support to assist with any issues experienced while on their site. There’s a pretty extensive FAQs list covering everything from how to use the available responsible gaming tools to questions about deposits and withdrawals. A lot of gamers play outside of bankers’ hours, so it’s nice to know you can reach out at any time of the day or night.

If you want to speak with a representative via live chat, you may have to wait a while. When you initiate a live chat request, you’re placed in a virtual queue. I experienced wait times of between ten and forty-five minutes, but after getting through to an agent, everything went smoothly. If you don’t have time to wait for live chat, email is also an option. Just be aware that it’ll typically take well over an hour to receive a response. FanDuel has no phone support for customers, which is a bit of a bummer.

Experience with customer support

I clicked on Support under the About section, and then clicked on the FanDuel Coach tab in the right-hand bottom of the screen. I was prompted to enter my name, email address, and reason for needing help. The automated “coach” took it from there.

Coach gave me the option to be transferred to a live agent, so I initiated a request. My identity needed to be confirmed before I could speak with an agent. Coach sent a confirmation code to the email address I previously provided and instructed me to copy the code and paste it into the message box. After doing so, I was placed in a virtual queue behind other support seekers. About forty-five minutes later, I was chatting with a helpful agent who was able to answer my questions quickly and accurately.

The next day, I repeated these steps and was able to get through to a live agent in about ten minutes.

FanDuel sportsbook’s overall platform

FanDuel’s platform is clean and easy to navigate. Registration is simple, and the search functions allow you to find what you’re looking for in a snap. The mobile offering is just as sharp and navigable as the desktop version for those who prefer to gamble on the go.

Claiming FanDuel’s generous no-risk wager bonus for new users and any other promotional bonuses offered is no sweat. The rules are transparent for all bonuses and promotional offers in place.

76/100 Great platform for betting on sports
  • Attractive site
  • Easy navigation
  • Mobile friendly
  • Search functions are limited

Who wants to spend time scrolling through markets on a crummy, difficult-to-navigate website? With the FanDuel sportsbook app and desktop version, you’ll be treated to a smooth wagering experience. Their site is attractive, and your favorite markets are easy to find. With just a few clicks, I was able to find the markets available for my favorite teams. If gambling isn’t your thing, FanDuel runs fantasy sports contests and other promotions that allow you to join the action.

Fantasy sports is still a relatively new concept, but if that’s what you’re after, OwnersBox and DraftKings also offer it.

I’d love to see a search bar somewhere on the platform. While FanDuel sportsbook’s platform is impressive for the most part, it loses several points in this category for its unimpressive search functions.
