Editor’s note

Unibet sportsbook will no longer operate in the US, effective from 31.12.2023.

This review is based on the operator’s current offer in NJ. Data and analysis below are accurate at the time of publishing, but may be subject to change or removal.

Expert verdict

The Unibet sportsbook app is a bit like Old Faithful. It’s not overly shiny, loud, or attention-grabbing, but it can be counted upon to deliver exactly what it promises with minimal fuss. Good selection of sports and betting features? Check. You may not find exotic sports like, I don’t know, sumo wrestling, but if a solid sports-betting experience on popular and mainstream sports is what you’re after, you’ll certainly find it here.

The number of sports on offer is average compared to competitors. It can’t hope to reach the heights of BetRivers (30 sports), but it comes very close to Bet 365’s 22 offerings. On the other hand, if it’s niche sports like NASCAR you’re after, you’re better off going somewhere like Tipico.

I do like Unibet’s approach to bonuses, which is to make them as easy to claim as possible. Again, it will not get any prizes for generosity, with the likes of Borgata offering four times the same offer. But again, we have no odds or other restrictions here, and the amount you lose on your first bet is credited directly to your account, as a second-chance bonus bet, within 72 hours.

The other great thing about this platform? It’s sheer usability. I find sites like Bet365 somewhat clunky, overly-busy, and a bit overwhelming. Unibet’s neat and simple design is the opposite of this. I can intuitively tell where everything is, usually with one simple click.

The downside? More flexible betting features would help, as would a few more promotions for returning players. Considering that operators like SugarHouse typically have a rotating roster of about 8 promos, Unibet’s 2 promos look pretty stingy in comparison. But these are minor niggles, and not enough to put me off, given that the overall experience is so positive.

Look, there’s a reason why Unibet keeps getting awards rained on it yearly: reliability. It will not rock any boats, but you can count on it to deliver a stress-free and immersive experience. And if that isn’t the whole point of gambling, I don’t know what is, which is why this Unibet sportsbook review scores high for me.

State differences at Unibet

The Unibet sportsbook app is legal in 6 states: Arizona, Indiana, Iowa, New Jersey,  Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Unibet sportsbook NJ betting was the first to go live in September 2019, establishing a solid base of sports options and betting features. The other states followed suit, more or less offering the same markets with some differences in the sign-up bonus.

Notably, the Unibet sportsbook app hasn’t yet launched in Michigan, although the group has promised an imminent launch within the next few months.

Unibet in Arizona

Arizona players get a different offer from other states, with the first cash bet up to $50 matched up to 4 times for a total of $200 in free bets. The bonus must be selected upon registration, and you’ll need to bet at least $10 with a minimum odds of +100.

Licensed and regulated by the Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG).

Unibet in Indiana

This is where this Unibet online sportsbook review rejoins New Jersey, as the Indiana offering is similar to that in NJ. Players in The Great Lakes State have access to the same sports and markets as their NJ counterparts, with women’s tennis making the list of most popular sports and baseball and football following through. The sign-up promotion is a risk-free bet of up to $100.

Licensed and regulated by the Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC).

Unibet in Iowa

With only 9 sports to bet on, the Unibet sportsbook app delivers considerably less excitement to players in Iowa. The choice here is limited to baseball, UFC/MMA, tennis, golf, football, basketball, hockey, soccer, and motorsports. Coverage of each sport is comprehensive, so there are still a lot of choices, with soccer especially having the most markets (averaging around 100).

Licensed and regulated by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission (IRGC).

Unibet in New Jersey

The majority of information on this page is related to the Unibet NJ site as default. Historically, New Jersey players tend to get the best deals and the most comprehensive offerings, but in this case, Unibet sportsbook has quite a few discrepancies in bonus offerings, not necessarily to the advantage of the Garden State.

Licensed and regulated by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE).

Unibet in Pennsylvania

Here, we’ll focus on a Unibet sportsbook review for PA . In what must be the first time NJ lags behind, Pennsylvania players actually get a wider choice of sports to bet on. The list of sports for PA includes pesäpallo, handball, water polo, surfing, volleyball, and darts bringing up the total to 25, compared to New Jersey’s offering of 19. PA players also benefit from a bigger risk-free bonus of up to $500.

Licensed and regulated by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).

Unibet in Virginia

Virginia’s risk-free bet is also lower than NJ, only going up to $100, with the rest of the betting markets being the same as for NJ.

Licensed and regulated by the Virginia Lottery (VL).

Unibet sportsbook bonuses

Unibet sportsbook has a straightforward sign-up offer of up to $100 as a Second Chance Bet. There is no Unibet bonus code needed to claim the offer, but only newly registered punters qualify for the offer.

To redeem the offer, simply sign up and place your first bet of up to $100. If your bet loses, Unibet will issue a refund in the form of a second-chance bonus bet.

Other ongoing promotions change regularly. At the time of writing, MLB fans get a parlay boost of 25% on their bets from Monday to Friday. There’s an additional parlay boost offer where you get 50% added to your cash winnings on your parlay bets.

Unibet online sportsbook app doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel when it comes to bonuses. Besides the welcome offer, it does take care of returning players with rotating offers, typically involving parlay boosts or other bet boosts.

In the next section, we break down the details of these offers, explaining why our expert gave this Unibet sports review a good bonus score.

Bonus rating

74/100 Not amazing, not bad
  • Risk-free first bet
  • Low cash entry
  • No wagering requirements
  • Below average amount

What do I think of this bonus? I’m of two minds. Getting a refund on a hard-hitting first loss is definitely a plus. If I’m honest, this is the kind of bonus that’s likely to get me to click that button, which is why I highly score this Unibet sportsbook review. But this is probably because I’m a cautious gambler, so keep in mind that if you’re the sort who likes to hit the ground running, you might prefer a straight-up deposit match like BetRivers’ sports bonus, as you’ll receive extra funding for your bankroll.

My gripe is that $100 is not exactly a high amount. Other sportsbooks that offer risk-free sign-ups, like SugarHouse and FanDuel, shell out for $1,000, making Unibet sportsbook app look like cheapskates. It also makes me wish I lived a few miles to the West, because the PA offer is the same — but up to a staggering $500. Also, if you don’t lose then… you really don’t get anything for joining Unibet. Where’s the fun in that?

I like that this offer comes with easy-peasy T&Cs and is very easy to claim. You don’t need to look for a Unibet sportsbook promo code, as there’s no need for it. Thankfully so, as I admit, I never quite understood why they make us go through extra hoops to get our bonus. There are no wagering requirements, not even odds restrictions like Bet365 slap onto their $500 risk-free bet. The bonus will come through within three days (mine took a little over 24 hours).

The only other thing is that I’d like to see more promos for returning players. Come on, Unibet, just two? Who are you kidding when we have BetRivers offering five at any given time, complete with an extra prize pool?

TLDR: It might not be the highest sports betting bonus across the US, but it does what it says on the tin without hassle.

Virtual sports betting is available as a separate vertical on the Unibet sportsbook app, with a selection of 9 sports to wager on, including Bundesliga, World Cup, Euro Cup, Champions Cup, Tennis, Basketball, Horseracing, Football, and Greyhounds.

Horse and greyhound racing also comes with a separate menu of betting options, and you’ll easily shift between sulky racing, harness racing, and greyhound racing with the handy icons.

There are no unique sports offerings here, so if you’re looking for more obscure sports betting like curling, you’ll be disappointed. Still, the sheer variety of bets and markets here rivals other big names. The sports and market selection might not reach the heights of veterans like BetRivers, which has 30 sports varieties. But it compares well to newer places like MaximBet, which offers 17.

In this next section of Unibet online sportsbetting review, we delve deeper into the elements that left us impressed and those we feel need more work.

Sports and markets rating

75/100 Killing it on racing and virtual sport
  • Separate racing vertical
  • Nine virtual sports
  • All major markets available
  • No unique sports

It would be easy to score this Unibet online sportsbook review as average simply because the sports varieties available aren’t great. I almost made that mistake myself, thinking there was nothing to make me go, ‘wow, this site is really killing it’. Boy, would I have been wrong!

Where the Unibet sportsbook app shines is the virtual sports and the racing verticals. There’s a lot of care given here to offer a complete package to players who are really into this type of betting. The racing section is super, and I love how easy it is to reach your favorite races with a click, shifting from greyhound to horse with a click on the icon. Did I mention that I love it when things are made easy for me?

Virtual sports are gaining traction fast in the US, and Unibet is unequivocally a leader in the race (sorry, pun alert). The only other site that beats it is Bet365 sports, which also has a separate arm for virtual sports and offers a great choice of 17 sports.

What about other sports if you’re not into racing or virtual sports? If you’re like me, a pretty average gambler who’s happy if the obvious stuff and all the expected matches are there, you’ll be delighted with what’s on offer here, so I’d say that market and sports give a pretty strong performance in this Unibet sportsbook review.

Additional market details

Unibet Esports

Players will find a modest esports offering that includes League of Legends, CS:GO, and Valorant. As is to be expected, the popular League of Legends comes with the highest number of league options, but ESL Pro League has the most markets,  with each match averaging 20. At the time of writing, there were 19 ongoing tournaments, averaging. Unibet sportsbook odds for esports average around 95.6%.

Betting features at Unibet sportsbook

The Unibet sportsbook app offers all the expected betting features. There’s a cashout option on selected events both in pre-match and live, as well as on single and multiple bets. Free bets are not eligible for cash outs.

The live streaming feature is pretty smooth. A handy live menu takes you right to the games being streamed at any given time, and the feature isn’t limited only to the most popular sport but is applied pretty much across the board. Just click on the game you’re interested in, and you’ll be taken to the action with minimal delay in updating events and odds.

Betting features rating

70/100 Can do better
  • Cashout options
  • Popular betting systems present
  • Easy betting navigation
  • Bet builder limited to pre-match bets

When checking out the betting features, the Unibet sportsbook app provokes the same reaction in me as their bonus. It very much takes the middling ground. All the minimum requirements are there, but I didn’t find anything to dazzle me.

Let’s start with the bet builder. Why is it only available for football matches? Would it be so hard to make it easier and more fun for lovers of soccer, baseball, tennis, or ‘insert sport here’? I get it, football is your biggest draw, but enough matches and markets are happening elsewhere to justify adding the bet builder.

Another negative is that it’s only available on pre-match bets, although the website promises that works are in the advanced stage of introducing this feature on live betting. I live in hope because, honestly, you’ve dropped the ball here, guys, and it’s all going to be reflected in this Unibet sportsbook review.

I’m also miffed at the cashout options because they’re only available on ‘selected sports’, mostly football bets. The betslip will tell you whether there’s an option to cash out on your chosen bet, and you’ll find it activated for live, pre-match, future, and parlay bets.

Compared to, say, sites like FanDuel, where you get a bet builder option across all sports, or BetRiver, which makes the cashout option commonly available, the Unibet sportsbook app has a pretty abysmal showing here. Sure, not all sportsbooks will let you cash out on everything. Golden Nugget, for example, won’t allow cashouts on special bet offers, but this is acceptable and an exception. With Unibet, I get the impression they’re working hard to stop you from cashing out. Not cool.

Unibet sportsbook odds

We tried a bunch of matches and markets across different sports to find out how a Unibet online sportsbook review will compare to its competitors. Most US sports betting sites typically will offer odds that hover around the 93 to 94% mark. Here we found an overall average of 96.7%, which is pretty generous. 97% is pretty much the dream, and we’re almost there, which is why you’re seeing such a high score for this section of the Unibet sportsbook review.

Odds rating

Let it be known that I’ve found the dream. I’m usually clapping excitedly when I find odds in the region of 95% cos hey – that’s rare, right? When I discovered Borgata sportsbook’s 94.7% payouts, I was convinced that life couldn’t get better. Then I realized that Golden Nugget nudged slightly above 95%, which made it my new instant favorite. What can I say? Women are fickle because guess which one gets my highest odds score now. That’s right — the Unibet sportsbook app. The day I find the perfect 97, I’ll break up with this one and move on to new pastures.

But wait. In terms of best odds, football exceeds 97%. I think I’m ready to make it internet official – Unibet online sportsbook is my current odds No. 1. I also love the Odds Boost tab, where I find even more improved odds. While writing this review, there was a Unibet sportsbook odds special on MLB, with the Detroit Tigers as underdogs on odds of +495 in case of a victory. Consider that bet clicked!

Unibet sportsbook app odds explained

If there’s one thing the Unibet sportsbook app deserves praise for, it is making it easy for the novice player to figure out the odds. Do some sites just throw in the decimal odds and expect you to do all the maths to figure out the American counterpart? I’m looking at you, SugarHouse. Not Unibet – every market allows you to choose between decimal odds, American, and even fractionals if you’re that way inclined. All via a simple dropdown menu. And if you still don’t get it, they explain how to figure out Unibet sportsbook payouts for different bet formats on a detailed help page. 10 points.

Payments — eight ways to deposit at Unibet sportsbook

Unibet sportsbook app offers 8 payment options: Trustly, MasterCard, VISA, Paynearme, PayPal, VIP Preferred, ACH, Casino Cage, and a Unibet prepaid card – this is pretty middle of the road. For comparative purposes, Borgata sportsbook offers 12 choices, while Maximbet provides 5. 6 options are considered an average choice, which gives Unibet an advantage.

Withdrawals ring in at a slightly longer average than most competitors, with funds from PayPal betting and Trustly appearing in your account after 3 days. Electronic transfers using ACH, like VIP Preferred, take up to 5 days. This doesn’t compare favorably with sites like Bet365, where PayPal funds are transferred within 24 hours.

At Unibet online sportsbook app, you can only withdraw using PayPal if you previously made a deposit using the same method. Physical withdrawals are possible using the Hard Rock in Atlantic City casino cage.

  • Decent choice

  • No fees
  • Slow withdrawals

All the most popular options are present and correct, so I’ve got no complaints there. I like the Unibet prepaid card, because it considerably cuts down processing time for both deposits and withdrawals. It takes ridiculously long to be delivered to your address (about 14 days), but once it’s in hand, it opens up many more payment options.

But what I like most about it is that it lets me bypass the equally ridiculously long withdrawal times. I mean, 3 days for PayPal? If BetRivers can do it in 24 hours, why does the Unibet sportsbook app have a problem? If I’m using the Unibet Prepaid Play+ card, on the other hand, I can withdraw instantly at one of the Discover ATMs as soon as my request is approved.

Other than withdrawals processing, I couldn’t find much to complain about here. Minimum deposits and withdrawals are set at a very reasonable $10. Maximum withdrawal limits are high. I mean, if you have enough funds in your account to want to withdraw more than $50,000 daily, good on you. Sadly, very few of us will be able to make that request. But guess what. If you want to withdraw more than that, you’re still good to go if you opt for a bank transfer, as the limit is now increased to $100,000.

Maximum deposits using Paynearme come with a relatively low limit of $500 daily, but this is acceptable considering that we’re talking cash in store. Borgata imposes exactly the same limit. Caesars sportsbook, on the other hand, throws caution and all limits to the wind, but I don’t necessarily find that reassuring.

My conclusion? Pretty reasonable payment processes, but need to up the game in terms of withdrawal speed.

Safety and transparency at Unibet

The Unibet sportsbook app takes a 360-degree view of safety and security. There’s a detailed help section with FAQs and easily accessible terms and conditions. Topics like payments, withdrawals, bonus requirements, etc., are very easy to find, and you’ll also be directed to similar topic links.

Nowadays, security at sports betting sites is more a case of ticking the obvious boxes. No gambling site without security that is up to scratch will be granted a state gambling license, let alone 4. As soon as I see that the NJDGE licenses a platform like Unibet online sports betting app, I almost don’t bother looking for other signs of security. I know I can take them for granted.

There are other reassuring logos that I spot on the landing page. Unibet is the official partner of the New Jersey Devils. If that isn’t a seal of security, given just how iconic the Jersey Devils are, then I don’t know what is. It also has a partnership with the NBS and, through the years, has received an avalanche of awards. Put this way, Unibet can’t get up to anything fishy, given the number of official eyes constantly on it.

Since I have a duty of care toward you guys, I also went into the specifics, which are just as reassuring. The responsible gaming tools are easy to access and comprehensive. You don’t have to jump through hoops if you need some help controlling your spending – this makes me happy. A quick look-see at community reviews confirms this assessment.

Unibet sportsbook support

The Unibet sportsbook app is equipped with a full-blown help center, covering all the essential topics players might wish to know more about. It’s very easy to access, and you don’t need to be logged in to access it, as you can find it on the top right-hand corner as part of a sticky menu.

Here you’ll be able to search for what you need or browse through the topics if you need some inspiration.

I love a sportsbook that doesn’t try to hide when I have a question. BetMGM, for example, has excellent support – but they don’t want me to call them, which kind of annoys me. SugarHouse offers a number for texting, but again – no voice calls. I don’t want to hang around waiting for a text! Unibet sportsbook app has no such issues, and they happily offer a freephone for those of us who are low on patience, which I applaud. If you’re scared of talking to me, how am I supposed to trust you with my bankroll?

The reality is that most of you probably prefer to avoid phone calls. Unibet provides them all. In case of queries, your first port of call should be the help center, and the likelihood is that you’ll find whatever it is you’re looking for here.

The topics go into great detail, so you’ll find things like the different sports bets, how to calculate odds and payouts, and a glossary of terms, which is super handy if you’ve just started dipping your toes into sports betting. There are also full details on their KYC process and how to verify your account.

I love how easily accessible everything is, especially understanding how to claim the bonuses. Just think of a question, and the answer is probably there, quickly revealed with a click. I wanted to clarify an issue I had with a parlay boost, and the reply arrived in my live chat inbox in under 15 minutes. It was already well explained there in the T&Cs, but I wanted to keep these guys on their toes.

Unibet sportsbook community

The Unibet Community can be accessed via the top menu on the Help Center landing page and is best described as a hub for news, discussion, questions, and forums. Think of it as a social page for all things Unibet sportsbook app, bringing together players who enjoy a literal community feel.

Every day you’ll find a rotating list of featured news items and trending topics that range from poker tips to the latest news about the UEFA Champions League. Filtering through to your favorite topics is easy thanks to the user-friendly way the page is laid out, and I do like the inclusion of unsolved issues and recent solutions — nothing like a bit of support from other players when there are pesky questions.

Unibet sportsbook platform

The signature Unibet green, black and white colors dominate the landing page, which immediately directs you to choose your state. Each state page is a mirror image of the others, with the current promotions dominating the space and a top menu leading you to your preferred vertical.

I rarely get to write this – whoever took care of UX for the Unibet sportsbook app deserves a medal. Some sites look like they’ve been designed with robots in mind. Wynnbet is one such offender in my book. Whenever I try to keep a bet slip open as I browse, all hell breaks loose with the UX, and I start losing bits of information until I eventually give up and close the bet slip altogether. Unibet lets me do this with zero issues, and the site is comfortable to use on both the app and the desktop version.

Nothing fazed this platform, not even filling in my bet slip before I logged in. It calmly let me do my thing and then prompted me to log in or set up an account when I was good and ready. I opted for the latter to see whether I’d lose my bet slip and be taken on some long and windy road toward registration. Nope. The usual personal questions decided on a security question, my preferred language, and I was done and back to my bet slip in under 2 minutes.

Unibet also makes it super-easy to claim bonuses. No obscure opt-ins or conditions here. Register for the first time, make your bet, and the bonus is yours. Easy-peasy. There’s a lot to be said for the simple life.

Additional platform details

Unibet interface

The Unibet interface is clean and logically laid out. Although a lot is going on, there isn’t the issue that everything looks busy or confusing. Racing and virtual sports are treated as 2 separate sub-verticals, so you’ll find that they have their own space on the menu tab, making for an altogether easier experience. The main interface focuses on a popular sports menu, live events, and upcoming events, so you don’t need to waste time trying to figure out where everything is.

Download

The Unibet sportsbetting app is far from lightweight, weighing in at 55.7MB. If your device is on the older side, chances are that you’ll find some hitches, but if you have a relatively modern phone, you’ll be fine. It’s worth the space it takes up on your mobile device as it’ll give you extremely smooth maneuverability, more than if you were to play off the browser on your phone. The design is not fancy, but it is efficient and easy to use, which is a lot more valuable than flashing lights and all that jazz. Live streaming works very well, and the odds update fast.
