Twin Spin slot review summary

Twin Spin is a nice option if you’re looking for an online casino game that has that classic casino look, with neon coloring and classic symbols like the gold bar and cherries. It’s simple and stripped back, with a jazzy game show-like background track and game sounds.

NetEnt has kept things simple throughout the game, with just two bonus features: a Wild symbol and the Twin Reels feature. The Wild pops up relatively frequently, but it’s the Twin Reels feature that adds some excitement to this game. On every spin, two or more adjacent reels are chosen as Twin Reels and will produce identical outcomes.

As for technical features, you’ll find Twin Spin has medium volatility and an RTP of 96.56%, giving it an overall balanced feel, although with 243 ways to win, I expected a higher hit rate.

Pros

  • 243 ways to win

  • 96.56% RTP

  • Lucrative Twin Reels feature

Cons

  • Limited bonus features

  • Average wins are small

  • Low hit rate

Twin Spin comprehensive review

My slot review of NetEnt’s Twin Spin gives you all the details to help you hit the ground running. I’ll cover Twin Spin’s slot RTP and volatility, its bonus features, and I’ll break down the symbols and their payouts. Lastly, I’ll explain how the slot functions.

RTP and volatility

Twin Spin’s slot RTP is 96.56% and has medium volatility. It’s played on a 5×3 grid, with 243 ways to win.

Considering there are 243 ways to win, I was expecting a higher hit rate from Twin Spin. That doesn’t mean I didn’t land any wins; I did, and occasionally had a few very big wins, but I was expecting them to be more frequent. Immortal Romance, for instance, has 243 paylines and paid out much more frequently when I tested it out. It even has the same volatility and a very similar RTP.

The RTP is very friendly, sitting slightly above the industry average of 96%, and medium volatility tends to be pretty balanced. Overall, the Twin Spin slot is a friendly slot for players who aren’t looking for a fast-paced game.

Bonus features

Twin Spin has two bonus features. The first is the Wild symbol, which is the word Wild is red. This symbol appears on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5, and it substitutes for all symbols.

The second bonus feature is the Twin Reels feature. This is a randomized feature that occurs on every spin. At least two adjacent reels will be linked for the spin, and when they stop spinning, they’ll have identical outcomes. This makes them twin reels.

The Twin Reels feature can expand up to the full five reels, making them quintuplet reels. It can occur on any of the reels on the grid, as long as they’re touching.

From a bonus features perspective, there’s not a lot going on in Twin Spin. I was disappointed that there weren’t more features, especially free spins or respins, but the Twin Reels feature is a clear highlight.

Most of the time, it doesn’t produce any results. For instance, if reels 4 and 5 are the twins, but there aren’t any matching symbols on reels 1, 2, and 3, you won’t get any wins.

I had one spin where, on a bet of $22.50, I got four matching reels, with nine bell symbols and four Js. My total win on that spin was $3,622.50. This isn’t the regular case; these are outlier results, but it shows this feature has the potential to be lucrative.

What would really boost the appeal of Twin Spin is if the Wilds served a greater function. In 777 Super Strike for instance, the Wilds expand, stay in place, and play a feature role in free spins.

Symbols and paytable

There are 11 paying symbols in Twin Spin. The low-paying symbols are the traditional card symbols: 9, 10, J, Q, K, and A. Symbols 9, 10, and J have the same payout values. They award a payout of $0.12 for three symbols and $1 for five when the bet is set to $1.

The symbols Q, K, and A pay out slightly higher, with a payout of $1.60 for five symbols on a bet of $1. The remaining five symbols are the cherries, the bell, the gold bar, the red seven, and the diamond. The cherries and the bell have the same payouts, awarding $0.40 for three symbols and as much as $10 for five of a kind on a bet of $1.

The bar is another step up, with a payout of $16 for five symbols, and the red seven pays out even higher, awarding $20 for five on a bet of $1. The diamond is the highest-paying symbol in the game. When the bet is set to $1, you’ll get $2 for three symbols and $40 for five. On the maximum bet of $125, the payout is $5,000.

The average payouts on Twin Spin are on the small side. When I was testing the slot, I didn’t have frequent medium-sized or big wins, and there was a point where my bankroll was draining quite quickly.

What I appreciated about the payouts in this slot is the way they scale up. Although all the low-paying symbols are very small and almost unrewarding, the jump from $1.60 for five symbols to $10 is great, and the game remains consistent with those increases.

The maximum payout of $5,000 is good and is pretty on-par with most of NetEnt’s slots. Jack Hammer also awards a payout of $5,000 for five symbols on a bet of $125. The difference is that Jack Hammer has a much wider bet range, with a maximum bet of $250. This takes the maximum payout to $10,000, double that on Twin Spin.

How to play the Twin Spin slot

Hit the green spin button to get the reels spinning. On the left of it, there’s the turbo button, which you can press once for a quick spin and twice for a turbo spin. On the right of the spin button, there’s the autoplay button.

You can choose a minimum of five autospins and up to a maximum of 100 autospins. Each option shows you the cost of each set of autospins, according to your current bet.

The bet button is on the bottom left of the game window. To adjust the bet, press the plus or minus button. Alternatively, press the bet value to open the drop-down menu and select your bet from the list.

The minimum bet is $0.25. After that, the available options are $0.50, $0.75, $1, $1.25, $1.50, $1.75, $2, $2.25, $2.50, $3, $3.50, $3.75, $4, $4.50, $5, $6.25, $7.50, and so on, until the maximum of $125.

Expert verdict

NetEnt’s Twin Spin slot is a good choice for a few kinds of players. For high-rollers who aren’t big on bonus features, Twin Spin would work for you. The bet range allows for high bets and higher stakes, with the potential for some big payouts.

For less experienced players, the game allows you to play with lower bets, too. Starting at $0.25, which isn’t the lowest starting bet, but the bet values increase steadily. Plus, you can get used to the mechanics of the slot without worrying about distracting bonus features.

This isn’t a game for players who love innovative bonus features, and despite the player-friendly RTP and volatility, the game doesn’t award wins that frequently, meaning there’s always a risk of draining your bankroll without realizing it.
