Think of this list as a digital Atlantic City. Even though there are nine physical locations for casinos in Atlantic City, AC operators can have multiple online casinos under their license. Caesars for example, has a total of five online casinos: Caesars online casino, Harrah’s, 888Casinos, WYNNbet and WSOP . Borgata and Golden Nugget have four online casinos each at the time of writing. The number of AC online casinos in New Jersey is always expanding, so we’ll continuously update this list.
Atlantic City casinos 2023
At present, there are nine casinos operating in Atlantic City. Each of these casinos has an online version apart from Bally’s – while those guys operate other online casinos in NJ, they don’t yet have their own branded online casino. All the other AC casinos have their own branded online casinos and generally also take care of the operation of a few more brands. In this section, we’ll go through each name on the list of casinos in Atlantic City.

Bally’s Atlantic City
This casino is operated by Bally’s Corporation and is the only casino that doesn’t have a specific online casino site branded with the Atlantic City casino’s name. They do however, operate a sports betting website: PointsBet sportsbook. It’s one of the oldest Atlantic City casinos, first opening its doors in 1979. It has a total of 1,775 slot machines, 122 table games and 42 poker tables. Bally’s Atlantic City is owned by Caesars Entertainment.

Borgata Hotel, Casino and Spa
Owned by MGM Resorts, Borgata opened its doors in 2003, and tried to create more of a Vegas-vibe within its floors. This seems to have worked with the customers as in 2005 they were crowned revenue leaders, a title they still hold. They have almost 3000 slot machines, 188 table games and 79 poker tables. They also have a long list of casinos in Atlantic City namely Borgata online casino, BetMGM, PartyCasino and Stardust casino.

Caesars at Atlantic City
First opened in 1979 under the Boardwalk Regency brand, Caesars was the second casino in Atlantic City. It currently has 1,887 slot machines and 188 table games, but no poker tables. Digitally, Caesars is probably one of the most prolific brands of Atlantic City casinos online operating Caesars Online, 888Casino, Harrahs Online and WynnBet Casino. They also operate the World Series Of Poker Online.

Golden Nugget Atlantic City
Operated by Landry’s, Inc., Golden Nugget has an unusual history as an Atlantic City casino. It was known as the locals casino, and was located on the Boardwalk, but closed its doors in 2013. The brand then opened once more in the Marina District with Landry’s spending over $150 million in renovation. It has a total of four brands when it comes to AC online casinos: Golden Nugget, Stardust Casino, BetRivers and TwinSpires. Golden Nugget holds the crown for top monthly revenue at Atlantic City casinos online.

Hard Rock Atlantic City
One of the newest casinos in Atlantic City, the Hard Rock first opened its doors in June 2018. The Hard Rock brand bought the property known as Trump Taj Mahal in 2017 and spent half a billion dollars renovating. The casino has over 2,100 slot machines and 152 table games. Online, it operates the Hard Rock online casino, Unibet online casino and Bet365 casino.

Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City
Harrah’s casino was the first casino in Atlantic City that opened away from the Broadwalk and is still going strong. The land-based casino has over 2,100 slot machines, 133 casino table games and 37 poker tables. The brand is operated by Caesars Entertainment and shares its online casino licence so if you’re a fan you can still enjoy Harrah’s online casino from the comfort of your home. Read our Harrah’s AC casino online review.

Ocean Casino Resort
Opened in June 2018, Ocean Casino Resort is mostly targeted towards visitors to Atlantic City casinos. It also has a focus on sports betting and online partnerships with Tipico casino and sportsbook as well as Ocean online casino and Parx Casino NJ. The land-based casino operates a total of 1,907 slot machines, 107 table games and 8 poker tables.

Resorts Atlantic City
One of the smaller casinos in Atlantic City, Resorts is also its oldest one, dating back to May 1978. It was the first legal casino operating in the United States outside of Nevada. You’ll find 1,475 slot machines and 68 table games here. Online, Resorts partners with some big names including DraftKings casino, Mohegan Sun, PokerStars, and Resorts online casino.

Tropicana Casino and Resort
Another casino that falls under the Caesars Entertainment umbrella, the land-based casino first opened its doors in 1981. Since then, it has had many upgrades, facelifts and name changes. The casino offers an impressive 2,476 slot machines, 112 table games and 18 poker tables. It’s also part of the list of casinos in Atlantic City that have an online presence. Check out our Tropicana AC casino online review.
Closed and repurposed Atlantic City casinos
Not all Atlantic City casinos have been a success and plenty have closed their doors, or even been declared bankrupt.
- The Showboat — This property opened back in 1987 as a casino, hotel and bowling center. Around 10 years later in ‘98, the establishment became part of Caesars Entertainment. Unfortunately it shut down in 2014. The property was then reopened two years later but as a non-gaming hotel. Instead, the casino hall is now being tuned into NJ’s largest arcade called The Lucky Snake.
- The Atlantic Club Casino Hotel — Closed in January 2014 after 34 years in operation. First opened in 1980, it was Golden Nugget’s first casino. After seven years it was sold to Bally Manufacturing and renamed to Bally’s Grand Hotel and Casino. Over the years it continued changing owners and names due to various financial troubles. In 2019, the property was sold to Colosseo Atlantic City Inc. but there are no plans yet as to what will happen to it in the future.
- Trump Plaza — First opened in 1984, it was jointly owned by Donald Trump and Harrah’s. After Trump opened Trump Castle a conflict of interest was declared by his business partner prompting Trump to buy Harrah’s shares. After 30 years in operation, the business was declared bankrupt and closed in 2004. The main hotel tower was brought down in 2021 but to date there’s been no word of what will happen in the future.
Atlantic City online casino slots and games
One thing is for sure, all the Atlantic City casinos online boast some of the best slots and casino games you’ll find in any of the 50 US states. To date, NJ casinos are unrivalled in terms of quantity and quality.
AC online casinos — latest updates
Let’s have a look at some of the up and coming news surrounding Atlantic City casinos. Here we discuss any looming developments to the AC gambling industry both offline and online.
- Smoking ban — An indoor smoking ban at casinos is being floated around. Having said that, there seems to be such great opposition to this smoking ban that talks have been shut down. The ban is being pushed for by casino employees who say that second hand smoking is detrimental to their health. Casinos are the only current exception to NJ’s clean air law which bans smoking from all indoor places. The vote on this ban still needs to be scheduled with stakeholders dragging their feet due to the adverse effect this may have on casino revenues.
- Esports — Atlantic City gambling sites might soon be adding another cluster to their offering. eSports is only growing bigger and it’s yet to be properly launched as a gambling option. In both New Jersey and Nevada, regulators are looking into creating gambling laws that govern eSports so it’s done fault-free and with integrity. eSports development is definitely on the cards for AC online casinos.
