This review is based on the operator’s current offer in Ontario, Canada. Data and analysis below are accurate at the time of publishing, but may be subject to change as the operator’s offer expands.

SpinGenie casino games

With over 1,900 games, SpinGenie is not one of the larger casinos. In fact, it’s rather at the lower end of the scale, just managing to sit in the average bracket. SpinGenie casino instant win games (slots) make up the vast proportion of these games at 1,600+ titles. Players will find plenty of interesting bonus features, like Wilds, multiplier and Free Spins bonus rounds.

If you want casino games, then there are 21 virtual table games on offer for you too. However, these are mainly blackjack and roulette variants. If you want to play virtual poker or even video poker, you’re going to have to look elsewhere.

The SpinGenie Casino mobile app has almost all the same online games, which instantly puts this among the top casinos out there. And this includes the live dealer games – there are 300 of these across a number of different roulette, blackjack and game show options.

Despite missing out on a number of game types, SpinGenie does pull things up a little by having specific game categories for Megaways games as well as Slingo options. For the latter, there are 20 different titles including Baking Bonanza and Slingo Deal or No Deal to enjoy.

In this SpinGenie Casino review, we also looked at the jackpot games on offer. There was a specific game category for these jackpots, and we were able to find 56 games on offer, one of which is the popular Fire Blaze jackpots Legacy of the Tiger.

I was really torn giving this rating. On the one hand, there are a good number of games, but on the other hand, some very popular games are strangely absent. Despite the SpinGenie Casino security being great, it really falls down in the game department.

First up, there are no filters on offer at all. Instead, all I could do to find games was use the category tabs. Alternatively, I could search for specific game titles, but this doesn’t really help if you don’t know what game you want to play!

With some of the game sections being very small, it was actually easier for me to scroll through and see what was there. By doing so, I noticed just how lacking some of these sections really were. For instance, there are no baccarat or poker games at all.

And I am not just talking about the live dealer games but the virtual table games too. Not a hide nor hair of a baccarat or poker variant. I must say this was really not on, as even casinos such as FanDuel with small game libraries manage to have a couple of these games.

Delving into the live games in a little more detail, I was surprised to see it powered by both Playtech and Pragmatic Play. My initial thought was that this was excellent and I was in for a real treat. Sadly, I thought wrong.

The online live dealer section is sadly lacking in many areas. Even though both these providers have some great games, strangely not many of them were used. Playtech, in particular, has some excellent game show options and though there was a drop-down for this, only 2 half-hearted options were available.

Additionally, with the inclusion of Playtech, I really expected to see some of the massive Age of the Gods jackpot slots. Even the vastly smaller NorthStar Bets online casino managed to offer five Playtech Age of the Gods jackpots. So, this really didn’t cut it for me in this SpinGenie casino review.

Software options at SpinGenie

SpinGenie Casino in Ontario has a surprisingly large number of providers given the game selection size. There are 14 different providers, which means that this casino sits solidly in the middle ground. It doesn’t reach the more impressive heights of Royal Panda with 30+ though.

The providers here are an eclectic mix of mid-range game developers alongside some big names and even some up-and-coming studios. Playtech does take centre stage though. And, rather like NorthStar Bets, SpinGenie does seem to put the heavy lifting on this provider.

Although the bulk of the games appears to be from Playtech, there are some excellent game options from some of the smaller studios. Noticeably, there are a large number of Relax Gaming, IGT and WMS games. which all offer higher RTPS and decent payouts.

There are also 38 Megaways games on offer thanks to the different providers, such as NYX, Relax Gaming and Microgaming, used here. These games can actually be found in a specific drop-down menu category making it even easier to find them.

At SpinGenie Casino Canada, all the games are mobile compatible. Even those games that come from smaller providers. And that’s because each provider here has moved with the times and makes sure that all their games are HTML5 mobile casino compatible.

With just 14 providers, SpinGenie has still managed to create a pretty decent collection of games. There are a number of different game types from each category too. The emphasis on Playtech games also works well in the online casino’s favour.

Software rating

80/100 Good range of different providers
  • Good selection of top providers
  • Two providers for live casino games
  • Some big-name providers absent

Although sitting at the lower end of the provider spectrum, I still found the number of developers to be a decent offering. If you’re wondering is SpinGenie casino Ontario legit, then I can happily say, yes it is. And this is confirmed by the top providers you can find here.

The number of providers here is rather low though in comparison to how many games they offer. I wasn’t really impressed here as Spingenie is really sitting at the bottom of the ladder — I’d prefer there to be at least 30 providers offered.

Having Playtech as the main provider though was a smart move I think. Most players at least know this brand and they are renowned for offering an eclectic mix of games. If you’re not going to have too many providers, then Playtech is a good option as an all-in-one provider.

But, SpinGenie needs to utilize this provider’s potential. I really was disappointed in the lacklustre selection of online Playtech games I found here. I mean, to not even have any of the Age of the Gods jackpots seems to be a huge waste to me.

And this is an issue particularly noticeable because NorthStar Bets, another Canadian-based online casino, also uses Playtech but to much greater effect. In fact, the game library of NorthStar Bets is actually less than half the size of SpinGenie’s but is much more diverse.

Payment methods at SpinGenie

SpinGenie has just 7 online payment options available, which is vastly less than the top casinos that we recommend. We always suggest playing somewhere that has at least 10 different payment options so that you can find your favourite online payment option.

However, fortunately, the payment methods on offer here are some of the more popular ones. And, there were some more unusual options in the form of Paysafecard and ecoPayz, which aren’t so commonly found at Canadian online casinos. This was a nice touch.

SpinGenie also offers Visa, Mastercard, Interac and Instant online Banking options too. So, while there aren’t that many ways to make a transaction, they do cover card payments, eWallets and prepaid cards. The latter is a great option for those of you not wanting to use a bank account.

All of the payment methods provided here are all secure and offer fast transaction times, within reason of course. These transaction times are usually instant for deposits, but can take a little longer for withdrawals as the casino has to go through a pending period.

Across all payments options there is a minimum deposit of $10 in place. This is exactly what we like to see. It’s also the same limit for minimum withdrawals too, which is good for those of you who might be playing on a budget.

To deposit via credit cards at SpinGenie is easy. However, it is unclear whether credit cards can be used to make withdrawals too. If this is your preferred method, it might be worth getting in touch with the Customer Care team, especially if you intend to use Mastercard.

Payments rating

75/100 Just seven payment options
  • Top payment providers
  • Canadian-specific options available
  • Very limited payment options

I ended up giving this section a pretty good score simply because the online payment methods were diverse. Even though there are only 7 of them, they do cover the main payment types, so you’re going to be able to find one that suits you.

I still wasn’t happy though, as I would rather see a casino offering at least 10 different payment methods if it wants to garner a high score for this category. Nevertheless, SpinGenie offers the same number of payments as sites like NorthStar Bets, which is another Canadian-based site and a few more than PointsBet, a new casino in Ontario.

I checked out the minimum deposit and this was set at just $10, which I really liked. Despite having a section where I could click on each payment method to find out more, this was spectacularly unhelpful. It yielded next to nothing, so I am not sure why the casino bothers to have this section.

There was no information provided on the upper limits for both deposits or withdrawals and this is something that really frustrated me here. I was also unable to find any specific payment info regarding the withdrawal times at this online casino.

However, I did like the fact that clicking on each online payment method did give you a step-by-step process, and then use that payment method. But, if I am honest, I’d have preferred more information about the casino’s limits for payments instead.

Safety and security at SpinGenie online casino

Staying safe and secure online is a must when betting on any gambling website. At SpinGenie, your safety is a priority with the casino taking all the usual steps to make sure you’re kept safe when gambling online with them.

It’s hard to go above and beyond when it comes to security, but SpinGenie really has made every effort. For starters, they hold an Ontario iGaming license, which means that it is legal within the province and allowed to provide its gambling services.

By having the license, the casino is obliged to implement a number of other security protocols. First, it must be regularly audited for gaming fairness, which SpinGenie does through iTech Labs — the link to this company is clickable in the footer.

Safety rating

95/100 Comprehensive range of security protocols in place
  • SSL encryped site
  • Regularly audited by iTech Labs
  • Licensed in Ontario

First, this casino is fully licensed in Ontario, which instantly puts it ahead in my books. Of course, I wouldn’t even be suggesting you play here if it didn’t have the license, but it’s nice to see it as a clickable seal at the bottom of the main page.

Because of this license, SpinGenie is required to follow a number of specific security protocols and I really enjoyed seeing them all here. They are regularly audited by iTech Labs, something I found they advertised clearly on their page so you know their games are fair.

There is a section for Security and Privacy, and this is written in huge letters at the base of the main page. It’s really hard to miss and I kind of really enjoyed the fact that SpinGenie wasn’t trying to squeeze this information into a corner or hide it in any way.

As such, I found it very easy to peruse the privacy policy, terms and conditions and responsible gaming options. I actually had a great time simply because they were so clear, transparent and easy to find. It’s why I snuck in a higher score for this casino, as it’s also in line with other secure platforms, like LeoVegas and BetMGM

Mobile features

Excitingly, most of the SpinGenie games are actually accessible via the mobile app. And, all of them are available if you are playing the games from the mobile browser version of the site. This is on par with other top online casinos in Ontario.

There is a mobile app for Android and iOS users too, so you can make sure you get the app that meets the specifications of your operating system. It works well across both apps too, giving you good access to the games.

As you would expect, the app looks and acts just like the desktop version of the casino. This means that you can simply access your account via the app and continue playing in the same way as the desktop site. There is no need to learn a new layout.

The app is also uncluttered and keeps that neat and vibrant feel that the main casino site offers. Better still, the app actually removes some of the glitches and issues with broken links and pages, so it might even be better than the desktop site.

Mobile rating

87/100 Most games available on the app
  • Easy navigation
  • Smooth with minimal lag
  • No telephone support

I was surprised by how much I actually enjoyed using the online SpinGenie app. It was really easy to use and totally intuitive. I also liked the fact that it really stuck to the same colour scheme and design as the desktop site.

I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the app possibly worked even better than the main casino site. In fact, I gave it some extra points simply because there weren’t those missing pages or broken links on the mobile app.

However, some of the issues I have with the main site were also carried over to the app and this did affect my score. For example, there are still far too few games even though most of the desktop games including live casino games were available here. There were even daily slot tournaments.

That being said, I can’t complain too much that most of the 1,600 games were also on the app. For other casinos such as SlotsMagic, the percentage of games available on the app sits at just two-thirds compared to SpinGenie’s almost 100%.

Rounding out my review, I did like the fact that there were iOS and Android apps available. It was also helpful that the casino has direct links to these downloads so that I didn’t have to spend ages on the respective app stores making sure I’d got the correct app.

Customer support

There are only two support options available at SpinGenie, which actually matches most of the other online casinos out there. That’s not to say it’s good though as it is better to have at least three methods of contact for an online casino.

Also, the support is available 24/7, which is a must in this day and age. Currently, the support, or rather, the live chat is available every day of the week.

There is also an email, but it is unclear how long it takes for this to elicit a response. It’s not fast, though it does end up being helpful if there’s nothing else on offer and you have a query.

You can check the FAQs or help section as well if you have an urgent issue. Some sections are very helpful, others less so. In general, the FAQ section is lacking and does not really cover the important topics in any great detail.

When the live chat is operational though, it offers a great service. The staff on the other end are, firstly, real people and second, actually helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. There’s no long wait time either with responses usually coming in just a few minutes.

Support rating

73/100 Live chat is 24/7
  • Helpful support
  • Email and live chat
  • FAQ could be improved

Despite missing out on having a phone option for support, SpinGenie’s support actually got a relatively good score from me. Though, most of this score really does come from the fact that the staff are friendly and helpful more than anything else.

I felt like it deserved to push up the points just a little due to the speedy response time. However, the support did lose points because there is no phone support. Call me picky, but I think phone support should be available.

The email is a good option if you find yourself needing help. But, as I found out, it can take a while to get an answer back. It’s really not much point actually getting in touch via this method so you’re better off waiting for the live chat.

If you were thinking you could simply find some answers in the FAQ, think again. I went through the help section and was sorely disappointed. The FAQ is weak in many places, with short, unhelpful answers to just the bare minimum of questions. I expected more.

Usability of SpinGenie

Overall, SpinGenie has a really appealing interface. It’s got a great design using blue and white, which makes it very easy on the eye. The games are laid out neatly too, and there are straightforward game categories in the main menu.

Usability facts

Ease of navigation Great
Game filtersYes

UX rating Good

There are no filters though, which means that you do have to scroll through each of the game sections to find the one you want. However, there is a game search bar so if you know roughly what you’re looking for, then this is the way to go. Simply put in a keyword and see what options it brings.

Usability rating

62/100 Looks great, but beneath the surface there are issues
  • Bright, colourful interface
  • Strong game category menus
  • Easy navigation
  • Some menu tabs don't exist
  • Broken links

On the surface, I really love the interface and design of SpinGenie. The site is very bright and vibrant with minimal graphics and those soft colours that are easy on the eyes. It really made it a very pleasurable surfing experience for me.

Additionally, the casino has clear game category menus, each with a fun symbol to denote which section of the games you’re in. However, there are no filters in these sections, I simply had to scroll through the list of games to find out what was available.

A further downside was that the website itself still had glitches. There are some broken links throughout so even when the SpinGenie casino Ontario directs you to one place, this page no longer (or maybe never) existed which is rather frustrating for me. I don’t like going in circles.

Another issue is that the site directs you to various menus, but these also don’t exist. For instance, in the FAQ, one answer directs you to the Cashier tab in the side menu to find out more about payments. Unfortunately, when I looked for this, it doesn’t exist hence the lower score. Overall, I am quite disappointed. Nearly every other casino I’ve played had better usability, so I can recommend quite a few alternatives: Coolbet casino as my number-one pick, followed by Unibet and DraftKings.

Expert verdict

SpinGenie is still finding its feet when it comes to Ontario’s online casino world. There’s a lot to like about this SpinGenie casino and there is a lot of potential here. For instance, the game selection is 1,900+ or so games, which is great for high-rollers.

There are also a number of top game types completely missing. There are no poker casino games at all, nor are there any baccarat options. For us, this is a big letdown and ought to be rectified as soon as possible to get this platform a higher score.

There are some good aspects though. There’s a strong support system in place getting you answers in a short period of time. You can also access the mobile app relatively easily and enjoy the same gaming experience on the app as well as the desktop site. We just hope SpinGenie casino improves quickly.

FAQs

Is SpinGenie safe and secure to play at?

Yes, the SpinGenie casino is licensed by the Ontario Alcohol and Gaming Commission. This is a requirement for any online casino operating within the province. Without this license, we would not recommend that you play at SpinGenie casino. In addition to the license, the casino is regularly audited by iTech Labs to ensure all the games are fair. It also has strong responsible gaming protocols in place to help you out if you start getting addicted to gaming.

What games are available on SpinGenie?

SpinGenie actually has a pretty impressive range of different game types. The majority of the games are slot games, but there are also various casino table games too. However, these are mainly just roulette and blackjack. There are some Slingo games on offer too, and this is a little more unusual when it comes to SpinGenie online casinos in Canada. Finally, there is a live dealer casino where you can find roulette and blackjack.

Is it legal to play on SpinGenie in Ontario?

Yes, it is. As we mentioned, this SpinGenie casino holds a license from the Ontario Gaming jurisdiction. It needs to have this license in order to be operational within the province. If it doesn’t have this license, then the casino cannot operate. If it tries to provide games without a license, it can get shut down by the provincial government. Remember, you should never play at an unlicensed casino, and we will never recommend a casino without a license.

Is there a SpinGenie casino mobile app?

Yes, there is. SpinGenie casino has a mobile app available for both Android and iOS. You can easily download this through the actual website too. And, you can access almost all the same features and functions as the desktop site once the app is up and running. Additionally, most of the games are also available on the app thanks to all the software providers using HTML5 software to ensure their games are all mobile compatible.

What are the live casino games like on SpinGenie?

If you want to play games, SpinGenie has a big selection of live casino, and there are some good ones here. These games are powered by both Playtech, Evolution and Pragmatic Play so there are a few options on offer. However, there are mainly only roulette and blackjack games. The SpinGenie casino claims to have two game show live games too, but these are both just based on roulette rather than offering the more attractive wheel of fortune style games.
