Hacksaw Gaming released its version of Plinko back in spring 2023. It takes inspiration from the classic Japanese Pachinko game and is another variation in the popular Plinko format.

This version stands out in a crowd, however, with a maximum win potential of 3,843x your bet and a maximum RTP of 98.98%. Just choose your risk, rows, and bet to get started. To learn more about Hacksaw’s take on Plinko, keep reading my Hacksaw Plinko game review.

Plinko review summary

Hacksaw Plinko is a clean, streamlined take on the Plinko game. It has a navy blue background, with bright white pegs that a light blue ball falls through on the way down. At the bottom of the Plinko pyramid, there are different multipliers. The multipliers change from yellow to orange to red, depending on how high they are.

As the ball bounces off the pegs, it makes a hollow, wooden sound. Once it passes through a multiplier, the game sounds change according to how high your win is. Higher wins come with a jingle of coins.

Plinko isn’t a casino game that naturally has bonus features, and Hacksaw Plinko is no different. You can customize your pyramid configuration, which adjusts the volatility and RTP. Hacksaw Plinko has a variable RTP that moves from 88% to 98.98%.

Pros

  • Maximum RTP of 98.98%
  • 3,843x max win
  • Customizable ball drops

Cons

  • RTP varies
  • Volatility varies
  • Average wins are small

Hacksaw’s Plinko comprehensive review

In my game review of Hacksaw’s Plinko, I’ll be breaking down the game’s RTP and volatility, the payouts, and how Hacksaw’s version of Plinko is played.

RTP and volatility

Hacksaw Plinko has a variable RTP. The base RTP is 98.98%, but this can vary and go as low as 88%, depending on how you choose to play the game. The volatility is also variable since you have the option to play low, medium, or high-risk bets.

The RTP and volatility vary when you change the number of rows and your risk level. Fewer rows mean a faster play and a smoother way down. You also have fewer multipliers at the bottom. Having more rows means the journey takes longer since there are more pegs to disrupt the ball, but then there are more multipliers, and much bigger multipliers, waiting at the bottom.

Playing with more rows and high risk means increasing the volatility and lowering the RTP, while playing with fewer rows and low risk means lower volatility and a higher RTP.

While you will have a win with every ball drop in Plinko, because of the nature of the game, that doesn’t mean every win is a profit. High-risk bets will mean there’s a higher chance of landing the bigger multipliers, since the multipliers furthest away from the center are much higher in value, but it won’t be frequent.

An RTP of 98.98% is high in any game, although in most Plinko games the average RTP sits between 96% and 99%. Since Hacksaw Plinko comes with a customizable configuration, that RTP will adjust to reflect that, meaning you could be playing with a much lower RTP.

I like being able to control my RTP and volatility. It makes the game more engaging, and in its most basic form, Plinko isn’t the most exciting of games.

I found that playing on high risk and more rows did throw a few more of the balls towards the edges of the pyramid, meaning the game does function like a high volatility game: fewer wins but a higher chance of some bigger ones. This isn’t guaranteed, though.

In fact, because in Plinko it’s easiest to get the multipliers in the middle, the average wins will be small and won’t be bigger than your bets. I very rarely had a win that broke even with my bet, let alone made a profit from it.

Symbols and paytable

There are no symbols in a Plinko game, but Hacksaw Plinko allows you to customize your bets, awarding different payouts for the different multiplier zones.

With the risk set to low with eight rows, the multipliers are 0.9x in the middle, 1x, 1.4x, and 5.6x is the highest win. If you adjust that to nine rows, you’ll get 0.9x, 1.1x, 1.7x, and 9.5x multipliers.

Sticking with the same risk, but increasing the rows to 16, you still have 0.9x in the middle, flanked by 1x, and 1.1x, but you also get 2x, 5.2x, 32.7x, and 501.3x as the highest win. Changing your risk from low to medium takes that final number to 1,718.7x.

With the risk set to high and the rows still set to the maximum of 16, the multipliers you can win are 0.3x, 0.5x, 0.9x, 2.1x, 6.8x, 32x, 238.9x, and 3,843.3x, which is the maximum win.

Changing your bet value doesn’t affect the multiplier values; only changing the rows and risk will.

The payouts on Hacksaw Plinko are pretty good, especially if you compare them to other Plinko games. BGaming’s Plinko, for instance, doesn’t come close. BGaming’s Plinko has the same customizable configuration concept, allowing you to choose your rows and risk.

With the lines set to the same maximum of 16 and the risk set to high, BGaming’s multipliers are 0.2x, 2x, 4x, 9x, 26x, 130x, and 1,000x. For starters, Hacksaw has an additional multiplier, giving a little more variety in what you can win.

There are also only three multipliers in the middle that carry the 0.3x value on Hacksaw Plinko, whereas on BGaming, there are five in the middle that carry 0.2x. This means in Hacksaw Plinko, your average wins will range from 0.3x-0.5x, while on BGaming, you’ll hang around the 0.2x region for a while.

Hacksaw Plinko increases its multipliers quickly, with each increase in row or risk introducing a much higher value on the ends, and there’s always quite a jump in size from the smallest multiplier to the largest.

How to play Hacksaw Gaming’s Plinko

To start playing Hacksaw Plinko, choose the number of rows you want to play. You can choose eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, or 16. This will adjust the number of rows on the Plinko pyramid that your ball has to fall through.

You also need to choose your risk level from low, medium, or high. This adjusts the multipliers available at the bottom of the pyramid. Lastly, select your bet. The minimum bet available is $0.10, with a maximum of $250.

The bets start small with $0.10, $0.20, $0.40, $0.60, $0.80, and $1.00. They then gradually move up to $2.00, followed by $3, $4, and $5. You can continue to increase your bet value using the up and down arrow keys up to $250, with the increments between bets becoming larger. When you’re ready, hit the green bet button.

If you keep pressing the green bet button, you can release multiple balls in quick succession. There’s no need to wait for the first ball to drop to release another one.

Underneath the bet button, you’ll see your current balance and your last five wins. Below that, there’s the sound button, the turbo button for fast play, and the info button, which explains how Hacksaw Plinko works.

If you want to play hands-free, at the top, there’s the autoplay button. This brings up the option to play up to 1,000 rounds, with 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, and 500 rounds available before that. You then need to select your loss limit. This could be 5x, 20x, or 50x your bet. You can also choose to have no limit or a custom limit.

There’s also a single win limit setting. This allows you to set a limit for 10x, 20x, or 75x your bet, no limit, or a custom limit.

Expert verdict

Hacksaw Plinko is a great Plinko variation. For players who are familiar with Plinko and are looking for a new one to try, Hacksaw Plinko might be a good choice, with its customizable configuration and its high win potential of 3,843x. Being able to adjust the type of game you play gives players more control over their game and allows players to change things up as they like during a gaming session.

For those who are new to Plinko, this could be a good option, since you can choose to play low-risk games on small bets of $0.10 to get used to how the game format works. As with any game, you always need to plan your budget carefully, especially given Hacksaw Plinko has a variable RTP and volatility.

For players looking for a few more frills, Plinko might not be the game style for you, since there aren’t any bonus features in this type of game. In which case, you might prefer checking out some online slot games.
