Guns N’ Roses review summary

Although this slot is a few years old, Guns N’ Roses goes hard when it comes to visuals. The Guns N’ Roses theme is cohesive and present throughout, making its way into the names of bonus features, or on a more subtle level through the roses that wrap around the symbols. You even get a cheering crowd when you land a win.

The visuals are paired with a set list of Guns N’ Roses tracks, which creates a fun atmosphere while you play. The RTP and volatility are a good combination, especially for less experienced players. That being said, wins are never guaranteed, and Guns N’ Roses leans more towards medium than low volatility.

The Guns N’ Roses slot also has plenty of bonus features to keep the game interesting. From Wilds to free spins, there’s everything you could imagine. Not all of the bonus features trigger that frequently, though, so you might be waiting a while.

Pros

  • 96.98% RTP
  • Low-medium volatility
  • 20 paylines

Cons

  • Average payouts are low
  • Bonus features take long to trigger
  • No progressive jackpot

Guns N’ Roses comprehensive review

In this Guns N’ Roses slot review, I’ll be covering the slot’s key areas. This includes RTP and volatility, the bonus features, and even the symbols and payouts. I’ll also take you through how the slot works, including its technical features.

RTP and volatility

The Guns N’ Roses slot has an RTP of 96.98% and low-medium volatility. There are 20 fixed paylines and wins pay from left to right.

The RTP on the Guns N’ Roses slot is just over the industry average of 96%, which is always good to see. Plus, it’s paired with low-medium volatility. The two of these together mean you’ll have a relatively frequent hit rate, although those wins will be small on average.

I’d say the volatility leans more towards medium than low, because although the wins are frequent, they’re not that frequent. This means adjusting your bet slowly, because you could easily lose your whole bankroll in just a few spins.

This was pretty much my experience when playing the Guns N’ Roses slot. I landed some frequent but small wins, typically across one payline. Although there are 20 paylines, it was pretty rare that I landed wins across more than one. That being said, you’re more likely to land a win with 20 paylines than with 10.

Bonus features

There are seven bonus features on the Guns N’ Roses slot. These are made up of Wilds, free spins, and other bonus features.

Wilds

The basic Wild appears anywhere randomly on the reels and will substitute for all symbols except the Bonus vinyl symbol. It also won’t appear on the reels when the Appetite for Destruction Wild is in play.

Wilds can randomly turn into an Expanding Wild, which will grow to cover the entire reel to maximize potential wins. Expanding Wilds will substitute for all symbols, except the Appetite for Destruction Wild, the overlay Wild in Legend Spins, and the overlay Stacked Wild in Encore Free Spins.

The Appetite for Destruction Wild

The Appetite for Destruction Wild is an overlay Wild. It’s cross-shaped and can land randomly, either fully or even partially displayed. It always lands on reel three. This Wild substitutes for all symbols, except the Bonus vinyl symbol.

This Wild can be activated when three Bonus vinyl symbols appear anywhere on the reels or if the Legend Spins has already been activated. No other feature can be activated at the same time.

Legend Spins

Legend Spins are randomly triggered and award one Stacked Wild for the first spin. This feature has two respins with 2 Stacked Wild reels. Stacked Wilds cover three symbol positions on the reel.

On the first spin, reel three is a Stacked Wild reel, while on the second spin, reels 1 and 5 are Stacked Wild reels. The final spin has Stacked Wilds on reels 2 and 4.

Solo Multiplier

The Solo Multiplier feature is another randomly triggered feature. It’s a multiplier that awards a win multiplier from 4x-10x, when all the bet line wins consist of matching symbols, possibly even including Wild substitutions.

There needs to be at least three matching symbols in a bet line win to trigger the Solo Multiplier. The multiplier is displayed on reel four and represents the number of winning symbols that pass through the highlighted symbol position in the middle of the reel. It can’t be activated when three Bonus vinyl symbols appear, or if Legend Spins or the Appetite for Destruction Wild have been triggered.

Bonus vinyl

Landing three Bonus vinyl symbols can award one of three features: Encore Free Spins, the Crowd-Pleaser Bonus Game, or a coin/cash win. When the bonus feature starts, a Bonus Wheel will appear and start spinning. Stop the wheel by pressing the button and see which feature has been awarded. The minimum win for the coin/cash win is 10x the bet, and the maximum is 30x the bet.

Encore Free Spins

The Encore Free Spins award 10 free spins. During the Encore Free Spins, a band member symbol will appear as a stacked Wild overlay on reels 2, 3, or 4. Stacked Wilds cover three symbol positions. There are no bonus symbols during free spins, and additional free spins can’t be won during free spins.

Crowd-Pleaser Bonus Game

The Crowd-Pleaser Bonus Game is a Pick and Click game. This has three levels where players are awarded a number of picks, which in turn award cash wins. On Level 1, the wins range from 1-2x the bet. On Level 2, this increases to 2-5x the bet, and on Level 3 it’s 3-10x the bet.

Free Spin symbols and a +1 pick symbol can also appear randomly during the Pick and Click game. There’s also a Crowd Meter, which displays the collected coin/cash wins, and your progress towards the next level. If three Free Spin symbols appear, this awards 10 free Encore Free Spins, which will be played out once the bonus game is finished.

The Guns N’ Roses slot has a lot of bonus features, each of them cleverly connected to the Guns N’ Roses theme. It’s original and engaging, and I liked the bonus features available. A lot of these bonus features also come with the potential for big wins or maximizing opportunities for a win.

Unfortunately, these special features rarely trigger, meaning you’d likely have to play for a while before triggering one, which could mean maxing out your budget.

While I was playing, the Solo Multiplier was triggered. This is pretty cool, and I got a 5x multiplier, which resulted in a payout of $80 when my bet was $8. Other features I came across often were Wilds and Expanding Wilds, which contributed to a few wins.

The Bonus vinyl symbols often land in twos, but rarely in threes, so I never triggered any of the bonus features. It’s a shame, as I would have liked to test out the free spins. The free spins round sounds good, although it’s a shame you can’t retrigger free spins.

Symbols and paytable

The Guns N’ Roses slot has 10 symbols. The lower five symbols are traditional card symbols: 10, J, Q, K, and A. The two middle symbols are Guns N’ Roses album cover guitar picks, while the three highest paying symbols are Duff, Slash, and Axel Rose.

Landing three of the lowest paying symbols, the 10 and the J, will award a payout of $0.05 on the minimum bet of $0.20. Landing five of these will award $0.50 and $0.60, respectively. The A pays out better, awarding $1.25 for five symbols when the bet is set to $0.20.

The two guitar picks pay out better, awarding $0.15 for three symbols, or $1.50 and $2.00 for five. The highest paying symbol in the Guns N’ Roses slot is Axel Rose, which pays out $7.50 for five symbols on a bet of $0.20. On the maximum bet of $200, that’s a payout of $7,500.

Since the Guns N’ Roses slot has a relatively frequent hit rate, I did land quite a few wins, although they were on the smaller side. If you increase your bet a little, you will have a few outlying, slightly bigger wins, but these don’t come easily.

When my bet was set to $8, my average wins were $2-$4, but I did have one win of $32 and one of $66, and another of $102. The game generally pays out quite well, and the payouts are naturally more rewarding the more you increase your bet.

However, you need to adjust your bet carefully. I set my bet to the maximum of $200 and started autospins, and my bankroll was drained in four spins.

How to play Guns N’ Roses

The bet range on the Guns N’ Roses slot is $0.20-$200. This can be adjusted by pressing the arrows on either side of the bet button. Alternatively, you can play your bet in coins instead of in cash.

If you play in coins, you can adjust the level using the arrows on either side of the level button, which sits on the left of the spin button. On the right, there’s the coin value button, which is also adjusted using the arrow keys. Adjusting either of these will affect your bet. There are 10 levels, and the coin value goes from 0.01 to 1.

To spin the casino slot, you press the spin button. This is flanked by the autoplay button and the max bet button. Autoplay has a minimum of 10 autospins and a maximum of 1,000. You can also set up some advanced settings, like stopping autoplay if a single win exceeds a pre-determined amount, or if your balance increases or decreases by a certain amount.

In the bottom left-hand corner, you’ll find the settings button. This allows you to set up Quick Spin, spacebar spins, and switching between betting in cash or coins. Next to it there’s the mute button, the autoplay button, and the game rules. The paytable can be found by pressing the i button next to your bet.

Expert verdict

There’s a lot to work with, and a lot to love, in the Guns N’ Roses slot. Even if you’re not a rock music fan, NetEnt has developed a very enjoyable game for all kinds of players.

The above-average RTP and low-medium volatility make it a good slot for greener players, although I’d advise caution when increasing your bet. Since the maximum bet is $200, it’s very easy to burn through your bankroll in just a few spins. For newer players, stick to the smaller bets and become more confident with the game’s mechanics. The wins will be smaller, but it’s a less risky approach.

There are also a stunning number of bonus features, which will definitely interest more experienced players. The Solo Multiplier is a great feature, as are the free spins and different kinds of Wilds. Not only is this an attractive slot to look at, but it’s prepared to keep you engaged. Unfortunately, these bonus features tend to take longer to trigger, which means you might not experience them all.
